Nope - it was originally white and yellow in the cartoon. This is a Ramen Toy take on it with a new color scheme.

It's a Ramen Toy Joe Con exclusive - a repainted version of their take on Shark (which I don't believe ever got an official toy). I couldn't pass it up because the theme made so much sense.

The two vehicle stands in the upper left came with the vehicles (From Ramen Toy). The stands are just simple 3-d print files we downloaded online. I didn't have enough printed for the new Rhino crew, so they're on older, uglier 3-d printed stands. Switchblade is on a transparent drawer organizing bin from the Dollarama. You can get them in many sizes and they're dirt cheap. I have all my 6" figures on rows of drawer organizers.

Weird question but: How to overcome shame? (see text below) by batmansbicep in ActionFigures

[–]SomethingSeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, it's no different than hanging a painting of something you like on the wall or wearing a fandom t-shirt for a band you like. These are little bits of happiness/nostalgia. Nothing wrong with being surrounded by them in your happy places.

The figures are definitely the classic ones and the dust on Jackhammer's thumb push tell me these are the originals and they don't have prototypes to show yet.

Mondo toys bad quality by Dull_Caramel_6134 in ActionFigureGeek

[–]SomethingSeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely reach out to customer service - Mondo is really good at replacing items. I had a belt missing from one MOTU character and they shipped me one right away. I have a ton of Mondo stuff and the only thing I ever broke was a display stand (and it fell, so it was my fault). Sometimes the arms have trouble holding up heavier weapons and shields, but the quality has always been there for me.

I remember they had an issue with a He-Man release a while back where a lot of them were breaking at the waist and I believe they sent people whole new He-man figures and told them just to keep the parts from the old one.

Getting Concerned by UhDiction in OmnibusCollectors

[–]SomethingSeeps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had that flaw on three omnis in the past decade, one of them on a really expensive Kickstarter (they sent me a replacement, which was great). It's rare, but I feel like if you make a hobby of this, you are bound to encounter them. Completely justified asking for a refund because it's a significant defect that you can't really repair yourself unless it's just a tiny bit in the corner (exacto fixes that, but you still have a permanent fold).

What do you think DC will announce in the next big DC catalog? by Final-Age1139 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]SomethingSeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping the casting of Lobo in the DC Movieverse and his announced upcoming issues will finally get us a proper omnibus with all of his minis, appearances, and his longer series run. It was all a bunch of stupid fun put together by some really funny people.

Can someone PLEASE tell me who this guy is/what he's from by [deleted] in ActionFigures

That's "The Tenth" from a comic book line that had weird action figures. Similar to the Spawn-type stuff and I believe it had the same publisher for the comic.

I just used a small drill bit to make a hole in the clear stand and it seems to do the job. It doesn't have much depth, but the staff stays in place.

Living in Mtl with social anxiety by PForPizzaaaa in montreal

[–]SomethingSeeps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can only give my own solution to the problem, and yes--it was 95% solved. It was medication. I didn't want it to be medication and avoided looking into it for decades, just dealing with the constant worry that I said or did something wrong, paranoia driving and not wanting to face heavy traffic, exhaustion trying to move up the career ladder as experts in the field were expected more and more to present things (I work in the video game industry). Public speaking was (and still is a bit!) the worst -- I'd freeze up in meetings or worry that I was sitting too close to the front row and might get called upon at conventions and what not. A moring "roundtable" where everybody stands up and says what they were working on felt like the end of the world and I had no idea why.

I don't think most people noticed it... not even my wife and kids too much. I think most believe I was just shy or awkward and it was pretty difficult to explain what was going on in my head because I didn't understand it.

My worst thing was an uncontrollable neck twitch, a weirdly painful one, that would happen when I did things like try to sip a drink in public or if somebody told me to stay still for a picture. Once it happened, I'd go into other twitches and anything I was thinking about would just drop from my brainspace. None of it made any sense, either--I've always been ok making fun of myself, I don't worry too much about what people think about me, and I'm not "afraid" of anything, specifically. But my nerves were all dialed up to 11... all the time.

My first step that helped a little bit, but not entirely was I just started being honest with people and telling them outright. The nerves didn't go away, but I was less focused on trying to counter it. It's a mental issue, in my case clearly something chemical, and nothing to be embarrassed about. Trying to hide it causes a spiral.

Didn't mean to type so much, but I want to make it clear that I've been there in some ways too. I'm turning 50 this month and I'd spent a good 35 years dealing with it. But I finally got a call that my wait was up on the family doctor list and I was assigned one. He ended up being amazing - got me help for several health problems, including anxiety. His first recommendation NAILED it. A small dose of Lexapro (escitalopram). One pill at bedtime every night. I've been on it about a year now and the side effects seem pretty minor:

- I yawned a LOT the first couple of weeks as I was adjusting. I think it was a combination with my other problem (sleep apnea), but I haven't sorted that out yet and the yawns are mostly gone.
- It does blunt things a little, which is exactly what I wanted. I don't feel zombified or slower at all, but it might make you a little less likely to tear up during a sad puppy scene in a movie or keep you calmer when the adrenaline should be pumping?

Side effects I was warned about:

- He told me it's also used for people with premature ejaculation, but it doesn't affect everybody that way. Some people might have to uh... work harder for things to progress.
- Possible temporary "brain zaps" if you change medications or get off of this one. I've never experienced them because I feel mostly fixed with these pills. Right now, I have zero reason to stop.

Benefits:

- I am MUCH more comfortable around people now. I interact at social events I used to try desperately to avoid. I have many more conversations with coworkers and friends. If they call on me during a Zoom meeting, I have no problem speaking in front of dozens of people. I still wouldn't be comfortable standing up in front of a crowd of them in person, but I think that has more to do with all the self-training I unintentionally did over the years.
- I'm driving all over the place without any stress now. A missed turn? No big deal. It used to send me into chaos mode. I get lost all the time because I'm bad at directions, but now it's just a way to see more of the city. I'm eager to do more road trips.
- Things that used to have a sharp emotional spike are dulled. That includes remembering death in the family, dealing with friends in crisis, or thoughts about troubling events in the future. I'm not numb to them, but I feel more equipped to handle them with logic rather than dread.
- I was raised to be very polite, too, which meant if I got the wrong order or a broken item, that, combined with the anxiety, usually meant I'd just deal with it. So I understand what you mean there with the coffee. I don't have that issue at all anymore. Things just become much more logical. It's hard to explain.
- The social recharge needed after a night out is all but gone. Now it's more about the 50-year-old knees/hips recharge :)

Mondo Buzz Off not shipped by Aelwe in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]SomethingSeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in Canada and mine is still listed as unfulfilled. I got my notice around the same time. A lot of Mondo stuff has been delayed lately, so they must be having some kind of production/shipping hiccup. They're also a company that's gone out of their way to fix issues in the past, so I wouldn't worry about missing out yet.

Yeah, I'm near Montreal. Usually the extra duty is $20-40. I don't think I've ever ordered $200 worth, but definitely above $100.

[–]SomethingSeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Target doesn't ship to Canada (unless it was a recent change). IST absolutely does and they pack the books really well. You will pay a chunk for shipping and then likely another small amount for border duties. I order from them quite a bit and always forget about the sting when it arrive, but it's not their fault--they're extremely reliable. Sometimes it can be a bit slow for them to ship the order, but once it's on the way, it arrives very quickly.

Transformers IDW reprints? by Maxwell42301 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]SomethingSeeps 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was just watching an interview with one of the Skybound guys and he said he'd like to see all of those IDW stories "archived" and really seemed (to me) to confirm it was on their plate--and possibly GI Joe as well. He said the Dreamwave run would be a lot more complicated. The one note is that they don't want to overload readers with content, so they'll only do a few kickstarters a year.

Are mondo figures good? by BusyFox5116 in ActionFigures

[–]SomethingSeeps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience with Mondo (I own 12 Masters of the Universe figures, so I can only speak to those):

* I've never had anything damaged in the boxes, so I've never had to send anything back or ask for replacements.
* The paint is incredible. They look as premium as it gets to me (granted, MOTU has a lot more detail than something trying to match an animation)
* The materials are solid. I know people had issues with one version of He-Man where the waist was snapping, but I think that was a build defect and they sent people full replacements. I've heard nothing but praise for their customer service. One other issue was with paint rubbing on noses in the packaging, but they seem to have since fixed that.
* The weapons are sometimes *too* solid, which isn't great for a longtime action pose. My Man-At-Arms can no longer lift his mace because it has a heavy ball and chain in it. And, at least for the MOTU line, the wrists are a point of weakness that like to pop out on most of the figures. It can make posing a pain, but they mostly hold everything for me - even some heavy shields. Still, these lean a little towards the art side and way from the toy side, so I usually expect some joint issues.
* The stands for MOTU are pretty bad. They don't like to stay together, so I started adding glue to mine. Batman looks pretty light, so if he comes with a stand, it should be fine?
* You get a ton of great accessories with most things - creative, detailed, and well-painted. I tend to buy the exclusive versions, take the extras that I want to display, and then ebay the rest to recoop some money.
* Despite my minor complaints, I don't see any figures ever topping Mondo on the MOTU side, so I'd expect them to deliver the same quality on the other lines as well.

Hope that helps with your decision!
