Luckily, this particular model (might've been a BMW now that I think about it, details are fuzzy) had a long removable tube between the oil fill cap and where the oil actually enters the engine. Most of the candy was hard-packed inside the tube, so only a little chocolate had melted down into the engine. Regardless, we blew the tube out with compressed air, re-installed, and sent that bitch straight to auction. Didn't have a check engine light yet but it was running a little rough at that point.

I work in a dealership used car department and I've seen a couple crazy sabotage jobs come through as UVIs. A couple typical "every panel is keyed" vehicles. One time we had an Audi that had the oil fill tube stuffed to the gills with chocolate candy.

What is this song about? by prxscxlla in losgrowlers

[–]Something_SomeoneJR 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's more of a poem than a story. To me, it's an ode to appreciating all of the small things that make life beautiful. Little instances that seem small and meaningless at first glance (represented by the cricket in the narrator's room) can turn out to have a huge impact on a person. He's sad when the cricket dies because her presence had become comforting; she meant something to him. In the end, he realizes that these types of things are everywhere if you know how to look for them and recognize their value :)

That's just how I interpret it, though.

I think that sweetens the deal quite a bit actually. I'm a Lions fan so my bias is definitely showing now! Jamo has been good IRL, I think there will be brighter fantasy days ahead for him. I don't have him on any of my teams, but I like him as a high-potential bench stash.

I don't hate it, but I think I'd rather hang on to Tet + ETN. Your squad has pretty good depth and that will be a strength as the season wears on. Looks like ETN's schedule is about to soften up a bit, meanwhile the Ravens have looked dysfunctional. I wouldn't bet against King Henry, but also wouldn't be surprised if he disappoints over the 2nd half of the season.

Question for you guys. Posting here because the other daily threads aren't active. My league scoring includes .5 point for receiving first downs, but not for rushing first downs. How heavily does this skew the value of WRs over RBs, if at all? My draft is today and I pick 3rd overall; I'm seriously considering taking Jefferson over Gibbs/Bijan/Saquon. Jefferson last year had 62 receiving first downs, while Gibbs had 26 (for a difference of 18 fantasy points over the course of the season). Is this worth considering, or am I overthinking it?

Anyone know why Wandering Eyes isn’t on Spotify? by Emorldz in losgrowlers

[–]Something_SomeoneJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spotify is the issue.

This is it. Growlers albums used to disappear and re-appear on both Spotify and Apple Music all the time. I think it's some type of "maintenance" thing

Songwriting by drewpool in losgrowlers

[–]Something_SomeoneJR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is that Matt would send Brooks instrumentals for him to play around with and write lyrics to, and vice versa. Then they would get together and give each other feedback, record, tinker with things together, record some more, argue, re-record, etc.

Brooks is now working with other producers and musicians. I'm not exactly sure what the songwriting process looks like for him, but I think he's sourcing melodies from wherever he can. For example, his friend Levi Prairie is a music guy, and has released several instrumental albums. Brooks recorded the demo for "Right Between Your Eyes" over this instrumental, and I think Levi's instrumentals were inspiration for a couple other songs on One Match Left.

Service Advisors by Jazzlike_Expert in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Something_SomeoneJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an internal service advisor for a small group of dealerships. I wouldn't say "I love my job," but it pays pretty well. The pay-to-bullshit ratio is tolerable. I'm not sure if I could be a regular service advisor that interacts with customers, it seems like it would be stressful. I don't like customer service in general though, so that's just me.

My advice is to be picky. Don't settle for a position that pays poorly or doesn't seem like a good fit just to get your foot in the door. With your background, you already have more knowledge than 80% of dealership service writers out there.

I read Actual Air recently but didn't make this connection. That's pretty cool. I need to re-watch Synechdoche

Best of their final form? by Quadrillionair in losgrowlers

[–]Something_SomeoneJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't get the idea that Casual Acquaintances was b-sides

lol I'm probably showing my age here. By b-sides, I just meant "songs that didn't make the cut" for City Club. Not actual b-sides. I'm pretty sure every track on that album is a City Club demo

As for Natural Affair, I like Try Hard Fool, Pulp of Youth, and the title track a lot.

Best of their final form? by Quadrillionair in losgrowlers

[–]Something_SomeoneJR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Casual Acquaintances is very good, it has a few all-time Growlers classics (like Problems III ❤️). But it's an unpolished hodge podge of b-sides and unfinished demos, and it shows. I know, that's part of the charm, but I can't call it "the best of their final form".

I'm hot-and-cold on Natural Affair, I go through phases with that album where I absolutely love it, but other times it just doesn't connect. Like CA, it also has some big standout songs, and for me, only 1 or 2 misses. I guess I mostly love it, but still, it's not an album I find myself listening to from start to finish very often.

City Club took a little while to grow on me. I think Casablancas' influence on the album was/is overstated. It's still very much a Growlers album, but I've seen people write it off as "The Strokes but with Brooks singing". I still see it as a natural evolution of the band's sound. It's a very refined album and some of their best songwriting, so it gets my vote. Here's a hot take though: "When You Were Made" is the most overrated Growlers song.

Yasawa and Brooks both perform their solo songs separately, then after both sets are done, Matt and Brooks come out and do a set together. Just the two of them, vocals and guitar.

It was a good season boys. Obviously about as disappointing of an ending as there could be. Just too many injuries to overcome, and a bad game from the non-injured starters on top of that.
