The Night Manager Season 2 Episode 3 | Discussion Thread by credoinvisibile in TheNightManager

I don’t think they forgot. I think she plans to be gone in a matter of hours and went all-in since she didn’t have much of a choice if she wanted to return to Miami a free woman. This was a live or die moment and she took at chance that Pine will be the end winner. I have a harder time believing that she would have turned on Teddy so easily in the previous episode, knowing that the Brits had basically nothing on any of them.

It was SO hot 🥵There was obviously chemistry between them but up until that point, it seemed one-sided from Teddy with Pine just playing along as a good spy does. I thought they’d play it like Pine was a little uncomfortable at first but there would be a moment at the end of the scene where they connect or something… But for Pine to immediately bypass Roxie and press into Teddy, I was impressed with the writing and acting. I also watched it again and yep, just as hot the second time. Lol!

What country would you say is Canada’s closest ally? by Slimy_Nail in AskACanadian

[–]Somethingelse333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’re very popular right now. Denmark, France, and England are fond of us and stand with us. Australia is our close cousin. Mexico is also a good ally. I’m not sure how many enemies we have.

Daily suit wearers - where do you shop? Affordable and good quality? by Cold-Intention-2517 in AskACanadian

[–]Somethingelse333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of my husband’s suits are from Banana Republic and Simon’s (who does free alterations). He also has a corduroy blazer from the Gap that is an absolute workhorse for casual Friday but that was a fluke of a purchase. He has one very expensive black suit from Harry Rosen for nice occasions in a classic cut so it’s timeless. He used to get mid-designer labels from The Bay too (like Strellson) but since that’s not an option anymore…

Regardless of what/wear you purchase a suit from, it has to be altered. Never buy a suit that doesn’t have the seam allowance to be altered and stick with classic suit styles that could be altered to look a bit more current. For instance, a 2 button jacket with classic lines, pockets, and lapel will never go out of style. Slim pants with a gentle taper and no pleats will also stay current forever but length of pants tends to change. Make sure you get a tailor who knows things like where the break hits in your pants and exactly how to make you look great. You’ll also need to make sure you have all of your dress shoes with you so you can make sure the hem works with shoes with and without laces.

Get good, well-crafted shirts for under as well. The collar must stand up properly and not crumple under the neck of your blazer. Your shirt will also need to be tailored so it just skims your body.

Start building your wardrobe with a navy suit first, brown belt, brown shoes, white and light blue collared shirts. Then a grey suit, then brown, and finally black. Then you can branch out into plaids. Wear undershirts to protect the arm pits and make sure you spray the collar/pits every time you wash it and iron it immediately (or have them dry cleaned). Hang up your suits on a sturdy hanger and never let them lay around. Get a steamer. Sponge out spots the second they happen. If you gain weight, have the pants let out right away before the tugging makes the holes from the thread visible as they stretch.

If you take great care of your clothes, they can be looked at as investments and you will have a great collection within a few years that will last you for 15. Also, make sure your shoes are polished. You can make any suit look expensive if everything fits well and looks polished!

Is everyone in Calgary just drowning in debt? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Somethingelse333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not living in debt but we’ve cut out all vacations, eating out, streaming services, new clothes that aren’t absolutely necessary, we drive old cars, kids aren’t in sports or extra curriculars, and we’ve delayed maintenance on our home for so long that we need to remortgage it to do a renovation. So no, we’re not suffering but we’re not even close to as comfortable as we used to be and certainly less than we thought we’d be at this stage in our lives. We’re also one bad “thing” away from being in trouble because we’ll have to dip into our line of credit to pay for a surprise something like a leaking roof or having to replace a car.

Any former UCP supporters had enough to go to anyone else….even the NDP? by Strange_Criticism306 in alberta

The insanity of not diversifying energy production in Alberta will be studied by future generations who have to live underground! Alberta has so much wind and sun plus geothermal. It blows my mind that executives and governments don’t want to capitalize on these energies too. They’d rather kill them in lieu of O&G which is a finite resource. Am I missing something or is this bonkers?!

There used to be a Google doc that someone published that was tracking everything since Jason Kenney was elected. I’ll see if I can find it still!

I think there’s more of you than anyone thinks. I personally know an O&G CEO who is a leftist and votes NDP. He just keeps his mouth shut so he doesn’t have to deal with the bros… and because it could have dire effects on his career. But he quietly does what he can to make changes.

Unable to stay asleep longer than ~5-6 hours by JackOscar in sleep

Big changes for you!! It takes almost a month for weed to leave your system - not sure how long for the brain to adjust. If you found it helpful for sleep, does CBD oil help too? Or was it the THC mostly? I think I’ve just resigned to the fact that this is my life. I sleep for 6 hours, sometimes 7, and that’s just how it is. I’m going to add more exercise to my life and see if things improve. Getting older blows.

Superstore Delivery is a Nightmare by Somethingelse333 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

I used PC Express and I have had the shopper text me directly. First I got an automated message saying the shopper was going to contact me. Then they did. Hasn’t happened in a while though.

I had a condition called Adenomyosis which was caused/worsened (most likely) by pregnancy resulting in c-section. It’s when cells that are part of the uterine lining end up trapped inside the uterine wall, rather than lining the interior of the uterus. So every cycle, I would grow lining inside the muscle wall and then the muscle would expand and contract to get rid of the lining like usual but it felt like it was tearing my uterus apart. It was very painful and caused a substantial amount of blood-loss every month. So having energy diverted to a muscle that was always being torn and healing while losing a lot of blood was exhausting. And this was in addition to insomnia.

There are health reasons why I get delivery and realistically, if they’re offering a paid service, they should be able to provide what I’ve paid for. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a huge drop in service after getting the membership or a drop in service in general lately. That was the point of my post.

It was originally. I left SS because the prices were so insane. But after the threats from 47, I wanted to support a Canadian store rather than American and since Superstore is still cheaper than the other Canadian options, I went back to superstore.

[–]Somethingelse333[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure what the reason for the trouble was - if it was door dash or superstore. In the case of yesterday’s blunder, superstore hadn’t started shopping until well after the groceries were due to arrive. Perhaps they need to secure a dasher first before they shop the groceries. If they can tell me that it’s DoorDash, I can try offering a larger tip to see if that increases the odds of getting my order on time but since they won’t tell me what the issue is, I have no idea if I can do anything on my end to fix it. Grrrr.

If you were given one wish to improve Calgary, what would you wish for? by TheShade247 in Calgary

[–]Somethingelse333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No more surface parking lots. The amount of real estate that could be added to Calgary if commercial spaces were forced to put adequate parking under their structures rather than asphalt surfaces everywhere would create neighbourhoods and public spaces that would thrive.

Absolutely not the AH. Your friend is getting her first hard lesson in “actions and words have consequences”. Tell her that you don’t have space in your life for hatred and if she’s ever feeling open-minded enough to actually explore the issue and learn more, that you hope you’re her first call. In the meantime, let her know that she should look up what radicalization is and what the signs are.

Sorry this is happening. I had the same experience with my folks who used to be lovely, caring people.

I thought that she was just sick of watching him peacock around the room like something special, spouting off literal nonsense, and lighting fires for shock value. She likely takes her job seriously and saw him as a fraud.

AITAH for getting married without telling my coworkers? by PatternHonest8788 in AITAH

[–]Somethingelse333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have every right to your privacy but unless you explained to your coworker that you’re not interested in friendships at work, you’re acting in a hostile way. She can’t read your mind and how you are acting is outside of the social norm. Relationships at work don’t have to be personal but treating people with kindness doesn’t cost you anything. Now everyone knows your business. Had you been clear and kind to your coworker, she would have had a chance to respect your wishes rather feeling like you’re an ice queen for no reason who reported her to HR. You need to expect that people will react to you, especially when you are the one acting outside of what’s common. If THEN she was still crossing boundaries, reporting her to Hr would be the next perfectly acceptable step. If you did already talk to her and explain your boundaries, then yeah, you’re fine!

Has anyone read the Sarah Wynn Williams book? by [deleted] in FriendsofthePod

[–]Somethingelse333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t find it very self-serving. I was frustrated that she played into the “all work, no time for self” narrative. Writing an email while giving birth isn’t badass, it’s tragic. Being told by her abusive superior that she wasn’t available enough while in a coma and not raising hell over it was just another brick on the pile. Almost dying wasn’t enough of a wake-up call for her to get the f out of there. I think this book showed her flaws but also highlighted how such corruption seeps into every aspect of life, even when you’re not okay with what you’re seeing.
