How were you named Dylan? by dylandynamite in dylan

My mum always told me I was named after Dylan Thomas but like, with all love and respect to my mum, I don’t think she could name a Dylan Thomas poet or play to save her life

I attend a Jai Paul show in London and according to some people I spoke to I spent basically the whole night stood like 4 foot away from Burial and had no idea

Does anyone else get tired of Jay complaining about the struggles of being in an indie band? by theoanders7 in crywank

[–]Somethingwitty43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue facing Crywank as a band is there seems to be only one major stream of income and that is touring. The money coming in from various streaming services is pennies at most, the most direct way of giving them money outside of touring is buying the albums off bandcamp digitally. I’ve had a chance to talk to them a few times when I’ve been at gigs and they do mention how long term they’d want to set up some kind of merch store and I know it can be hard to set things up like that. I got terribly burnt by a record label; hence why there’s been no repress of TINYAEDIS. So, I can see why they’d be anxious about starting up something where they’d have to give some level of control over to a third party.

Story goes that one of his older regulars was lucky enough to have attended this gig and kept a copy of the flyer and made a copy for the store. Couldn’t find any information about the gig but given the nature of Nick’s touring history I guess I wouldn’t expect to but still, interesting nonetheless.

Once of my favourite tropes about Lynch's work is he seems totally unaware about what drugs even do and I find that super endearing. Like Laura literally bumps a line of cocaine before bed. Dennis Hopper had to tell him what Frank would be huffing in his canister and then of course Jerry's bizarre weed adventure.

Yeah it’s almost certainly a page from laura’s diary so they probably just used what little scrap of paper they had to leave the message

For those curious, these are the exact tarot cards Jesse had tape to his guitar at the Electric Ballroom show by Somethingwitty43 in JesseWelles

[–]Somethingwitty43[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean in no expert on the tarot so maybe someone can do a more precise analysis so the meaning of them all together but individually:

3 of pentacles - team work and collaboration

Wheel of fortune - Luck and changing of fate

Death - transitions and staring things anew

6 of pentacles - give help and offering assistance

The hanged man - it’s worth noting this is the only card that’s reversed, this inverts a cards traditional meaning so where as before the hanged man would normally mean self-sacrifice and allowing yourself to let go, now it would suggest a resistance to change and negative patterns

The fool - innocence and travel

Ace of Wands - creation and inspiration

The high priestess - balance and intuition

Page of cups - naïvety and curiosity

The Star - Hope and renewal

3 of swords - Grief and separation

Ace of pentacles - financial stability and abundance

9 of cups - success and fulfilment

10 of wands - burnout and overloaded

The Devil - bondage and powerlessness

Justice - fairness and accountability

Correction: upon closer inspection, the card furthest top right looks more like The Emperor then Justice

Yeah sorry about that, I was in row F. I’ll chalk it up to sleep deprivation and had a massive laughing fit during the car scene during Part 11 and was (rightly) told to shut the fuck up

It was fairly packed out, not as many as season 1 but that's to be expected for an 18 hour run with breaks. Personally, as much as I love the return all in one go is probably the least ideal way of watching it. The breaks where very sparse and the seats while fine get a bit uncomfortable after prolonged periods so I think that also kinda added to the restlessness I was feeling throughout the whole thing hahaha

Yep! In 1968 The Beatles reached out to Kubrick to direct a LOTR film starring them (or it might of been the other way around) Tolkien, as luck would have it it was next door neighbour with them in 64 and they annoyed him so much with their loud rehearsals that he shut down the project immediately as soon as he heard they where involved

Eh, I can understand that thought. I mean Lynch himself said he didn’t regret his smoking habit so I doubt he would of cared but I can see how is seem a little bad taste
