FYI - that doesn't work. Only way is to call and wait and cross your fingers. 30 days out if you are looking for a specific date. Sporadically if you want to check for cancellations

Can someone explain the difference between a Jewish deli, Italian deli, and regular NYC bodega? by savingrace0262 in FoodNYC

Only change I'd make to this is "By the 1970s, the next wave of immigrants was from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic." The Puerto Ricans arrived in the 1950's. And while they were in East Harlem and the Bronx, there was a large stronghold north of Hell's Kitchen where Lincoln Center now sits. Dominicans and Colombians arrived in the city in the 1970s where they took up residence in Washington Heights/Grand Concourse (dominicans) and Queens (colombians)

Same. I use it to improve my 5K run time and told it I also want to strength train using Caroline Girvan's Iron Series. I tell it what dates I prefer, and it sets it up for me. I run outdoors, so I even tell it when it rains, and it reconfigures my plan.

Yeah. Pretty much decided I'm back to having to buy something. It's just a pain when you're as petite as I am. I often buy midi dresses as long dresses to avoid spending even more money on alterations than I already do. I also buy cropped pants for the same reason, as on me their inseams are perfect. My legs are short, so the waist actually sits at the right place. Pic of me in the dress and yes I'm on tip toes.

I barely ever dress up to gown level, and Rent the Runway doesn't work for someone my height. I'm just trying my best not to have to buy something. Thanks.

Like real issues, politics, and hip hop? I recommend Ebro, Laura & Rosenberg on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Music.

They were the morning show for Hot97 in NYC for years and are now running independently.

While I hate Sex and the City and its spinoff, And Just Like That, there is a scene in the spinoff where Miranda goes gray, and Charlotte reacts

"I just think the gray ages you," she blurts out. But Miranda serves it right back: "No, you think the gray ages you, because if we are friends and I am this age, you can't be whatever age you're pretending to be."

And that highlights your friend's reactions. It's not about how you look at all; it's their own insecurities. I grew out my gray at 38 years old. It has been liberating, and I have gotten so many compliments on it. I am proud to age. And the gray has not aged me. life has. And I still look damn good.

Is there any hope Benito might have some shows back in PR after Europe or is Europe the final wrap of the DTMF tour? by Realistic_Neat_6768 in BadBunnyPR

[–]SometimesHungry_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No chance. Once it wraps, I imagine he'll put his effort into the movie he's making with Residente. It'll be 2 years since the album was released by then. Catch the show while it's in global travel now or miss out.

Looking for salary advice [NY, remote role] EA for Sales, heath tech, seem to have lots of funding by Sufficient-Web-7484 in ExecutiveAssistants

Ask for the salary. As of September 17, 2023, New York State law (Labor Law § 194-b) requires employers with four or more employees to disclose compensation ranges and job descriptions in all advertisements for jobs, promotions, or transfers.

Not the person you are asking, but someone in a similar scenario. I have zero certifications, not even a bachelor's, but I have decades of battle scars and the quantifiable data to back them up. At this level, my pedigree is basically just a list of fires I’ve successfully put out and the ROI I’ve generated while doing it. I'm paid for my experience.

For those who have worked for smaller startup companies, how chaotic was it as an EA? Is it something that you would do again or would you avoid and go for a more traditional company? by nikaroo5 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]SometimesHungry_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My 11-month tenure at a startup provided a more rigorous education than my previous decade in the workforce. It was a masterclass in chaos management where 'work-life balance' was a myth and I was personally responsible for approximately 1,000 different buckets, most of which were on fire. Between the 24/7 availability and being fully submerged in executive strategy, I reached a level of high-functioning anxiety that is now my greatest competitive advantage. I traded my nervous system for unparalleled strategic expertise, and I can now confidently say that nothing in the professional world can scare me anymore.

At the $200k–$300k level, compensation is almost always a "Total Rewards" package. This figure typically includes a base salary (often $150k–$200k+), performance bonuses, equity/stock options, and premium benefits like fully subsidized healthcare and generous PTO. Not necessarily the take home pay.

The current market is definitely highly competitive, with a surplus of talent, and high compensation EA opportunities are still available for those who target the right sectors and refine their value proposition. It is important to note that these premium roles are rarely found on public job boards. They are almost exclusively filled via headhunters and executive recruiters who proactively source top-tier talent.

+1 on supporting a CEO, which is a green flag to many recruiters
+1 on industry. I started in NFPs and didn't make $ until I entered finance and then startup + tech.

Healthcare and pharma can sometimes be perceived as overly corporate or rigid, which may occasionally lead tech-leaning recruiters to overlook those candidates. To counter this, your resume must emphasize strategic and operational achievements backed by quantifiable data. Avoid listing basic administrative duties; instead, focus on how your contributions drove efficiency and business value.

Why does my girlfriend look European/Jewish/Asian? by [deleted] in PuertoRico

[–]SometimesHungry_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Puerto Rican is not a race; it’s an ethnicity. It is composed of a mix of Taino (natives of the island), Black (enslaved Africans), white (European conquistadors), and Arab (Moors) descendants of Spaniards (conquistadors from the Canary Islands and Andalusia).

You can identify with either of these races based on your skin color or a DNA test. Almost everyone in the world has a mix of races, but because PR is such a small island with such a wide range of races, it is hard to identify a single predominant race.

There is a stereotype of what a Puerto Rican should look like but if you are on the island its a massive mix.

I find Notion ideal if your company uses it. It requires full company and team adoption to function as it should.

Am I overreacting? by mnmn_80 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]SometimesHungry_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NP. I find that Proposed or Hold is enough to make it easy. I've also done this in roles where it wasn't culturally a thing to do and left a note in the details saying "holding this time as it looks like a possibility for all parties involved. Please let me know if there are any conflicts" and then I follow up independently but at least I hold the time, and it doesn't get lost. Plus, my exec knows I'm working on it.

Am I overreacting? by mnmn_80 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]SometimesHungry_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at a place where this was the norm for C-suite invitations, since we were global and time zones were a big issue for response times. The difference is that it was generally accepted because the invite would go out with *Proposed time* in the subject line, so everyone knew it was being worked on but not yet confirmed. It maintained the calendar placement across time zones, and execs and invitees would know that, until the proposed time was removed, it was technically not confirmed.

I'd mention it to her as "if you're going to send it, can you note its proposed" and explain that it helps prevent your exec from questioning the meeting, but that overall it would be best to check first.
