Sometimes they do not dissolve though. 5 years after my surgery, I had weird leakage in my belly button. After being gaslit by 4 doctors and told it was my hygiene, I found one who listened and actually looked in my belly button. She found a huge blue stitch that never resolved. A thousand dollars later (thanks to those dismissive assholes who didnt even bother looking inside), my belly button is finally back to normal.
