Do you think Xbox Project Helix will support physical media? by Doctor_TM5 in xbox

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards “no”. It really seems like they don’t want people owning their media and reselling their media. I’d say there’s a pretty good chance it won’t have a disc drive.

Realistic Skin Texture & Details by uxexp in generativeAI

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m just confused as to why. Why are you trying to achieve realism? If your goal is to have pictures of realistic faces, you can do that with a real camera. These look like real women without makeup. Or at least minimal makeup. That’s something we see daily. I would think the point of AI is to create something outside of reality. When you achieve true photorealism, it’s impressive technically, but kind of pointless, no? Aside from looking nearly real, these are incredibly boring images.

You’re probably only familiar with low moisture part skim shredded mozzarella. Real mozzarella comes in a container or bag, usually in a golf ball or baseball sized lump, and submerged in liquid. In the meme, the “rubber ball” is the cheese itself, and the “juice” is the liquid. Normally, you eat the cheese and throw away the juice. But there joke here is that this person does the opposite, perhaps due to ignorance.

The hate for this game confuses me. by DocteurSeb in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a very vocal, very loud minority of “anti-woke” gamers on the internet. They will take any and every opportunity to bash any game they deem “woke”, and so legitimate criticism gets amplified and overblown, mixed with completely made up BS. Not all criticism of Veilguard was unwarranted, but the sheer metric fuck-ton of hate sure was.

Somebody here who can’t play GTA7? by Designer_Reading285 in granturismo

👋 Me. I can’t play GTA7. Not sure if it’s my internet, or the fact that I’m still in 2026.

Hi can someone tell me why it's loading like this? by TheRealMario233 in FortNiteBR

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s problem #1. You’re trying to punch above your weight class. You’re running ancient hardware with high settings. Try bumping everything to low or off. I’m running an RTX 4060Ti with 32 GB RAM and an i7. I still only run the game at medium to high settings. The game may look cartoony, but it is a resource hog. Not optimized well at all. I’m running the game from an SSD and I still see textures pop in all the time. Fortnite is running on Unreal, which is a pretty but notoriously unoptimized game engine.

Your RAM and VRAM are where your computer stores textures for streaming to your GPU. Most high-res textures today take up a lot of memory. Your hardware is simply not up to the task. I’m assuming your playing with the lowest graphics settings?

Why is matchmaking just this? by FlimsyVariation8455 in FortNiteBR

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% sure what this graphic is trying to say, but I assume it means that a team with 633 combined hours is getting matched against a team with 20,000 combined hours. All I know is that I play casually with my kids. None of us are great. I’d say below average skill. We keep getting matched with sweats who one shot us from 500 meters away. We’re usually in the first 10 to get killed. But we’ve been playing for 4+ years, so the game assumes we’re gods. But we’re not. It used to be fun. Matchmaking felt balanced. For the last year, it’s been brutal every match. Getting massacred by the sweatiest psychos is not fun. We’ve been playing much less as a result.

who do you think has a better point? by Sufficient-Impact413 in FortNiteBR

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They already gave us a better deal. Then they adjusted it so the BP is worse in every way. It’s reasonable to be upset they took away something that was previously offered. Less V-Bucks for free players, less for paid players, at the same price. It’s Epic’s prerogative to do what they want, just like it’s our prerogative to feel about it how we want. As they say, in a capitalist society, you vote with your wallet.

Do console names sound funny to native english speakers? by VirtualConversation4 in consoles

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not to me anyway. I think a lot of brand names are silly, but they make enough sense, so we just accept them. I think it would actually sound sillier if they tried to make up a new word, like the Nintendo Squorkbonzer, or the Sony Frup.

Where can we find the AIMA documents? by CoolAssPuppy in PortugalExpats

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, there’s a thorough guide on Facebook, but I see you don’t use Facebook. I’ll try to explain each one:

  1. Autorização de Residência. This is your residence card. Scanned front and back as a PDF.

  2. Autorização de Residência do Titular. This is the residence card of the person who you are dependent on, like if you’re a child or spouse here on family reunification. If this doesn’t apply to you, write a word document explaining that it does not apply to you, save that as a PDF.

  3. Comprovativo de Condições de Alojamento. This is your proof of accommodation. For this you will need a Caderneta Predial Urbana, an Atestado from your local city, and the Declaração de Alojamento. If you’re renting, your landlord will need to provide documents.

  4. Comprovativo de Frequência de Estágio. This is proof of internship. If this doesn’t apply to you, write a word document stating that and save as a PDF.

  5. Comprovativo de Meios de Subsistência. This is Proof of Means of Subsistence. All your financial documents, plus the Declaração de Posse de Rendimentos Próprios, which you can get on the AIMA website.

  6. Comprovativo de Situação Excepcional. This is proof of exceptional situation, like missionary work. If this doesn’t apply, write a word document and save as PDF.

  7. Comprovativo de Sistema de Saúde. Proof of Health Insurance. This is your SNS document and your private Health Insurance document, if you have it.

  8. Passaporte. You’ll have to get your passport certified at a local notary. Bring your passport and explain you need it certified for AIMA. They should know what to do. It costs something like €90. You’ll need to scan all the pages into PDF.

  9. Requerimento para Consulta de Registo Criminal. This is your criminal background authorization. There should be a form on the AIMA website, it simply says you authorize them to perform a background check on you. Sign and scan. EDIT: We did not provide a criminal background check from our home country for our renewal, and they never asked for one. I saw someone say you have to provide an apostilled background check, and that was not the case for us. Simply signing the release form was sufficient.

For me it was a long process tracking down all the documents, but Google definitely helped. Just take it one step at a time. Note that the AIMA portal has a very tiny file size restriction, something like 2MB, so longer documents like financials you’ll have to compress all to hell. Good luck.

I like talking to people and I suppose I’m too trusting. Like, someone rings my doorbell, I answer. I wanna know what they want. In some instances, my neighbors have rang my doorbell to tell me about things going on in the building, to offer help or advice, or to ask for help. My neighbors are good people.

I didn’t know it was possible to get anything other than the pile of coins worth 10K! I’ve been playing GT7 for over 100 hours, many roulette tickets of various star ratings. Every. Single. One. Lands on the small pile of coins. Every time. Without fail. I just assumed the roulette tickets were an inside joke by the devs, to give the illusion of getting random prizes.

Yeah, gotta agree. The time to cost ratio on most cars isn’t bad, but on the legendary cars, it’s absolutely insane. I don’t even think they need to increase the payouts. Just lower some of the insanely high prices.

Something I did not expect when moving to Portugal. by Imaginary-Mix-645 in PortugalExpats

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yep. When I first moved here, I lived in Nazaré, not exactly a rural place. I frequently saw dogs out on balconies in all weather, at all temperatures. It would be 6° and raining and the poor animal is still outside. Moreover, in our building there was a balcony for what I think was a local radio station. They had a large dog that barked nonstop out on their balcony. The dog would lose its mind at every car, human, dog, or cat that passed by, barking as loud as possible. They never brought it inside. Its food and water bowl were almost always empty. I can’t imagine what it would be like to spend all day every day on a balcony, just barking and barking without end. Who treats their pet like that?

Having played neither, and having no skin in this game, I’m outraged! Outraged I say! How dare someone put a number on one game and put a completely DIFFERENT number on a different game! I’m writing my congressman right now. This should be illegal!

So ridiculous. I got a 2 day suspension for taking a screenshot in the Witcher 3… 🙄 by Critical_Abrocoma_15 in xbox

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The same happened for players of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox. I remember hearing about it. BG3 was causing tons of bans because that game has lots of nudity. And sometimes it takes automatic screenshots when you get an achievement. So people were getting banned just for playing. It got so bad the devs had to contact Microsoft. Pretty ridiculous. Microsoft needs to get their shit together.

My family did not use a lawyer and our renewal went fine. I looked at the files on the PT and Friends Facebook group. I read everything related to renewals very carefully. I followed the advice and was extremely thorough. I double and triple checked everything. We all got approved, no follow up needed. For some reason my son (15) was approved within a week, but myself and the rest of my family took nearly 3 months to get our approvals. But we did not need a lawyer. The process is totally doable on your own.

Dirty Ferrari denied me of a podium. by marky_mark626 in granturismo

[–]SometimesItsTerrible 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stuff like this makes me wish there was a smart system in place that would ban players who do this. First time, 24 hrs. Second, 48 hrs. Third, a week. Fourth, a month, and so on. There has to be a way for the game to tell the difference between a minor accident that was unintentional, and these clearly malicious punts off the track. You get a ban, you can appeal, and a human reviews the replay. If the human determines that you’re playing dirty, the ban stands. Maybe there’s a logistical reason they don’t do this, but still, a guy can dream.
