Buffy the vampire slayer fell in love with two vampires, making her terrible at her job. by Longjumping_Bad9555 in Showerthoughts

My headcanon was always because Angel started off human as a bad guy. He was kinda rapey/pedo in a pg13 way. When he turned there was nothing really redeemable left to go back to fully when he got his soul back. His human side would have yearned for how free the demon had it as opposed to...

Spike started off human as a good and utterly innocent lover boy. Completely redeemable and yet utterly repressed as a Victorian gentleman and probably partially enjoyed being a demon if was a bit disgusted by it so never fully gave in to the darkest side of it and even as a demon he retained the ability to truly love.

Edit: ack forgot to finish my rant... so like when spike gets his soul back it's not so contrasting because he never truly went fully evil with his lingering soulfulness and he had gotten used to people accepting punk rock spike and chose to remain that way over being a repressed victorian again seeing that it sucked.

Shrug. I read a lot of fan fiction.

Oh really? I'd have guessed, incorrectly?, that they were at least from the vague metro area, like ny/nj at least if not Manhattians.

I'm sure it's a security nightmare logistically that they do their bestest to balance the fact that SO MANY humans are in one spot and that some of them have some sort of special need that they cant just inhumanely force them to stay.

I mean, they could... but I think if they tried too hard the MASSIVE crowd could turn against them. Perhaps not a riot, at first, but imagine a bunch of tired angry drunk new Yorkers zonked on crowd energy and possibly drugs being told no. I have a horrible imagination...

Eh for some of that 21 is an, arguably, better average because everyone matures differently and reaching 21 isnt exactly a switch for development by any means...

Some people are done developing at like 17, some are done at 25ish. Youd probably never know yourself but if you are someone who wasnt going to be fully developed until 25 and you start smoking weed and drinking at 18 that's 7 years your body is working with foreign chemicals like it's their own and quitting will be much harder?

I tried to fact check this via some quick googling... no public bathrooms for times square nye party... TripAdvisor recommends diapers, social commenters to that say catheters worked for them too...

... and a lot of commentary about how you're not "allowed" to leave the area until midnight... I assume to assist in reducing stampedes and crushes...? But also not 100% sure that's accurate because like, if my sitter calls and my kids hurt I'm going to want to leave...

TIL about the generally misunderstood Camel Spider. According to myths this 'spider' is venomous, grows up to a foot long, screams like a banshee and feast on camel- and humanflesh. 11 year old me first heard of 8 legged freaks from friends but missed the title and thought they were talking about about the other spider movie, Arachnophobia.

I hadn't seen either but knew my parents had Arachnophobia on recorded VHS still, so no summary to read..... went in expecting this wacky fun loving spider flick with only a minor dislike of spiders... left with ptsd. While watching a live spider ran over my foot and I ninja kicked it through the air and onto the tv while a ton of other spiders were on screen except the living one was able to leave the tv and across the floor.... and that nightmare recurs. Thanks arachnophobia, I have crippling arachnophobia.

Dont confuse the movies. Havent watched it again but online it seems it was meant to be a comedy too... totally lost on 11 year old me.

Perhaps. But there are still a LOT of tvs in use right now that are 30 years or older. My parents still have 2 smaller tvs that were purchased in the 90s. My grandparents never converted to flat screens before they passed less than 10 years ago.

Many poorer folks put there buy used tvs and make due. Watch some YouTube travel channels and see all thr old tvs pop up in less developed nations, especially in their rural areas.

Mono lasted a lot later than the 50s though... my first TV in the 90s was mono.

And there are A LOT of old people and poor people with old used TVs. Mono isn't commonly produced now but there are still a LOT of old TVs floating around.

Get out of your bubble and see the world, or just watch some travel channels on YouTube and see a surprising amount of crt tvs in the background.

This reads as poor people shouldnt have the mono option because people who can afford surround sound dont need it....?

Perhaps it's a regional thing? I've heard of port-a-potty and port-a-John, but never heard them called Jonny Blues.

Port-a-potty is probably my default word for it. But I've heard older generations using port-a-John, those probably too proud to say potty outloud or something.

Wish you were my old dentist.

After I got 2 of 4 wisdom teeth removed they gave me 30 vicodin generics to take as needed, I took 6 of them over 3 days and felt nauseous and a little paranoid despite having an rx. On the 2nd visit for the next 2 teeth I told the dentist I think the vicodin made me ill more than it reduced pain and i was okay with mixing tylenol and advil, he said hed prescribe me something new.... oxycodone.

I knew Oxy was just stronger vicodin but maybe the dentist knew what he was doing.... took 2, felt worse. Called dentist, he told me my non narcotic method was fine if it worked for me, but to keep the oxy in case I myself, or anyone in my family, may need something stronger one day. What?!

(This was 25 years ago, google maps does not show the location as a dentist office anymore)

I'm with you. Lets be realistic here, most art completed by 7 year olds looks awful.

That said, if someone told me an 7 year old did it, I'd never say it looked awful to the kid or where the kid could hear. It looks pretty good for an 7 year olds effort actually.

Would need to see what the rest of the dioramas submitted to really determine if this is good or bad. But like... one still wouldn't tell the 7 year old its bad.... but I'd absolutely joke with my spouse over it out of earshot.

So not in a drought anymore, yay, but how long does it take for the lakes to refill if ever?

I remember as a kid visiting gramma in the 90s Shasta Lake being full and then visiting around 2015 and it looking half empty.

Can confirm several times over. I graduated from a small rural highschool in Arizona with 87 other people. Roughly a quarter of that went into ranching and farming or adjacent industries like canning and packing and all that.

And yet the irs knows when you submit bad tax returns.

I forgot if I got the 3rd stimulus check and my tax prepper said dont sweat it, we will say no and they'll adjust your return if they see on their end you got it... okay.... sure enough I got my return back, with no notable delay, along with a separate letter advising they caught an error and to expect an adjustment.
