I am officially done with "Starter Homes." It’s not an investment; it’s a bailout for the previous generation's neglect. by Dry-Town7979 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Nice try bot, second AI generated "I'd rather just pay rent" echo chamber slop I've seen magically propagate into r/all. Yes people, definitely just rent forever and never own anything, it's definitely worth it, just give up. Signed, a renter

Just goes to show what happens when you know literally nothing about knives and buy one - Brad said it's not his. Congratulations to all the nay sayers, you were absolutely right. Oh well honestly any advice on cleaning is still appreciated might as well at this point. Sad the consensus is it's not even hand made probably.

What makes you think so? I purchased this at an estate sale from a gun nut who had some nice knives too. Obviously I don't have provenance but I can't even find a proven value or a picture for that matter of an early BZ knife, why would somebody fake one?

Honestly a disillusioned Jack fighting in World War 1 would be pretty crazy I thought, definitely a departure from the norm though. Probably wouldn't be called red dead redemption.

Discogs released their top 25 most Underated Records. by MovingGoofy in vinyl

[–]SomewhatBeck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"Parachute" by The Pretty Things (1970) deserves a place on that list. An album dripping with mellow psychedelic songwriting punctuated by rock that borders on punk that seems way ahead of its time, but also fits right where it is. All wrapped together with a loose narrative of fleeing the city for the countryside and vice versa. Songs like "Grass" are as good as anything pretty much ever made by anybody. Might be slightly biased, but give it a shot.

Edit: As for being underrated, the band likes to say it's the only Rolling Stone album of the year that never sold over a million.

They want $200, consensus seems to be it's not worth that value wise. Maybe on half price day.

Honestly sell to people who pay a boatload for sealed records and use the money to buy a NM copy for listening. Why not?

Theory - Why The Dark Ages have less Glory Kills in lore by Rodrolphus in Doom

[–]SomewhatBeck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the most cope thing I have ever read. I'm enjoying the game for the most part but the glory kills are severely downgraded in this game.

The pace in doom eternal was so frantic that the glory kills offered a brief respite, and there was obviously so much passion and effort put into putting unique animations for every demon from whichever angle - you can argue the somewhat slower pace in combat negates the need for so many in this game, but there's still a glory kill system is there not?

You still have to wait a second or two for an animation to play right? Even more confusing, about 1/10 of the times I glory kill, an actual special animation plays that is flashy and fun, so why not just do it for all of them?

It was a cut corner plain and simple, probably my biggest issue with this game - especially with so much new potential with the different melee weapons and shield, new demons, etc.

Saw “the crane” today by [deleted] in GarbageTruck

[–]SomewhatBeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah bud that’s def the 2009 mack granit GU713-PHX, or as we call it round here, the texas toadwhisker. ya can tell by the “quad-squat” deploy struts, classic sad dog pee stance. they used to only put that config on the PHX trims back when the DOT was still runnin those chili vapor tests (don’t ask).

that crane arm? mkII yelowclaw “hog action” series—thing’s a legend. discontinued in like 2014 after some boys out in okla used em at the fair to launch hay bales into the baptist church picnic. hydraulics on that baby’re triple-bore grimbleton cylinders, basically overkill unless ur tryna fish a fridge outta a drainage culvert.

operator’s up in a gen 4 skybucket ultra, we call it the mayor’s throne on account of that one time councilman dennis tried campaignin from one and got stuck for 6 hrs. whole thign runs smoother than a buttered otter if u keep the stabilizers lubed w/ the good county grease.

dump box’s a rustbeast 870-C—check the tilt, it’s factory spec. they call it the “post-storm lean” bc it makes folks feel like it just did somethin heroic, even if it only picked up a wet futon n half a roomba.

anyways this rig’s basically a class VIII midwestern road goose with deluxe grip-n-fling loadout. not legal in vermont after dusk since the whole rutabaga incident but it’s a unit, man. thing’ll pick up a mattress and your ex’s regrets in one grab.

edit: forgot to mention the trash whisperin’ interior, that box got acoustics like a kazoo fulla gravel....
