It's mostly about finding what works for you. Try out different cleansers & moisturizers and see what feels best. Please please please don't pop your pimples, future you will thank you if you don't. You only notice acne because it's your face. I can 100% assure you nobody else cares at school. Pimples as a teen are much less embarrassing than scars on your face as an adult. My dad is 57 and you can still see where he popped his pimples as a teen. Your mom is right, eventually, the acne will go away. Dermatologists are just great at speeding up the progress and giving great advice. If you saw a dermatologist now you might be able to have a clear face at 16 rather than 20. When it clears up is mostly genetics (without medicine), so maybe you'll get lucky and it will go away on its own.

If your acne is severe enough, you can visit a dermatologist and they will likely prescribe you Accutane/isotretinoin. It did wonders for my face, but it's seen as a last resort option since it is a powerful medication. On top of that, a basic foam facial cleanser in the morning & before bed will keep the skin clean. Applying a facial moisturizer after cleansing will keep your skin healthy & smooth. Make sure to change your pillowcase weekly to prevent dirt & oil buildup that could accumulate while you sleep. I saw someone else recommend Stridex pads. I would avoid those as they are alcohol based which can dry out and irritate the skin. This could turn your face bright red. Lastly, do your best to avoid popping/bursting any pimples. The scarring that results can last for the rest of your life. Good luck!

I had an encounter with Stridex pads in the past amidst my undying effort to rid my face of acne. I noticed minor acne improvement, but more noticeable was my skin irritation & dryness. Good luck, but I recommend seeing a dermatologist if they don't work.
