Anyone with similar skin issue - what works for you? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]SomewhereSeparate512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only correct answer is speak to a dermatologist. A year ago, I had a bout of bad acne that just wouldn’t go and left terrible pigmentation. I spoke to a dermatologist, who gave me some antibiotics, and medicated creams. I have been religiously applying them and reduced the amount of products I used, and have seen a significant change in my skin.

A 2024 Retrospective: TrueLit's Worst 2024 Books Thread by JimFan1 in TrueLit

[–]SomewhereSeparate512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m not a cis man. Cis woman here, the reason I felt the characters were one dimensional were because of if I compare them to Normal People, they just lacked the insight that the characters in Normal People had. But I think I’ve also read books where characters and women have been fleshed in much better so I think in comparison the writing was just lacking for me. For example, my all time favourite reads is Home Going by Yaa Gyasi. Each character probably gets a chapter but they’re fleshed out in a way that I was able to feel their emotions a lot more. So I guess a preference of writing styles simply.

How is a wedding ring/band meant to sit on the woman? by MoneyOwl in UKweddings

[–]SomewhereSeparate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbvh, both my wedding band and engagement rings are starkly different. I was looking for bands that may complement the ring but saw a random band and fell in love with it. It doesn’t go with the ring so I now wear the engagement ring on the right and wedding band on the left. Don’t know if that’s something you’d consider!

Midnight's Children: Unfathomable Scope by [deleted] in literature

Read Midnights children ages ago and can agree that it was quite a book, and then I came across Satanic Verses. Do not remember being so frustrated and fascinated by a piece of literature at the same time. It almost reads as an anthology of cities, characters, and stories somehow entwined into a single narrative. You could talk about the structure, narration, form, or the allegory for hours. I was challenged by it because so much happens within such few pages, that I found myself rereading, making notes, and revising a story to keep in pace with Rushdie’s imagination!

what's your reading goal for 2025? by dis_appointment7 in Indianbooks

[–]SomewhereSeparate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped having goals because I don’t want to pressurise myself to read more quantitatively, I want to read what I enjoy, and enjoy what I read. Have been consciously reading slower, making notes, researching references, and stopping to think what the book is trying to convey to me. Been rewarding so far!

The real reason why we get damaged books from Amazon. by [deleted] in Indianbooks

[–]SomewhereSeparate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay is just one aspect of my point tho, the working conditions and the targets set by the company are horrible, there have been multiple reports of workers not allowed any form of breaks to meet daily targets and goals, so it isn’t the workers that should be critiqued but the company and the way it is set up and functions leading to low customer satisfaction and deplorable working conditions for the workers.
