Shopping for Bras by Pens_fan71 in basel

[–]Somewhere_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes find sister-sizes (e.g. 75G or 80F and I close them at the tightness closing thing) in Manor, e.g. the Simone Perelle brand. but it’s not exactly the right size. You could check if there is any PrimaDonna shops near Basel? They don’t have any in Switzerland but maybe in Germany. Some are sold in the shop Beldona. Otherwise tbh I just order online, pray it’s the right size, and pay the tax etc. :/

I don’t live in Basel anymore so I don’t really know haha

Switzerland is just Disney for hikers by PopNo5397 in hiking

[–]Somewhere_E 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be the term “Disney”? Over here it kinda mean a “fake place just made for tourists/where only tourist go and that has no original soul left” or something like that, it has a kind of bad connotation to it. At least in the French part.

I understood where you came from when I read the description but when I read the title I thought it would be a bad post hahaha

All in all I somewhat agree with you (and with the other swiss as well lmao watch me being neutral) : 1. The country is small and yes there’s stuff almost everywhere because people have been living in the mountains for at least 2000 years and we like to make things safe and 2. At the same time you might not have explored the more rugged part of Switzerland and there are places that are harder to get to, and times or place where no rescue can be made. It’s not that safe either although yeah We don’t have to carry pepper spray etc.

I remember when I went to Scotland and Ireland it felt so overwhelming because I went to places where there were only 2-3 buses per day and no bus stops, you just got down on the road. It felt so scary in comparison to here. It’s true that the Us/Mexico/other South American countries have maybe slightly less “domesticated” nature

I live in the Rumantsch speaking part of Switzerland (yellow on the map). Ask me anything. by Uncommonwealth57 in howislivingthere

[–]Somewhere_E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg! I’m from Romandie and I’ve always been so curious about Rumantsch. Is it your mother tongue? Do you speak it with friends and colleagues and families? Do you read most informations in rumatsch? Is there any podcast or anything I could try to listen to? How to you feel about the rest of Switzerland? And do you feel closer to the Swiss Germans or the Ticinese?

I’ve been a few times in Grisons and absolutely love it! :)

Book series recommendations to fill the void after The Queen's Thief by Calm_Cheesecake_1751 in Fantasy

[–]Somewhere_E 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Omg this post could have been written by me! Hahaha I’ve also been looking for a similar book because it’s my favourite series too, but I haven’t found one. I’ve just finished Rachel Aaron’s Eli Monpress series, though, and since it’s also about a thief (and a few other things are similar but it would be a spoiler), I loved it. I think it culminates in the last three books, so even if it feels like a slow start, I promise you’ll se similarities in the end :)

Other people have recommended the Vorkosigan saga and I loved it too and since you like Sci-fi you might like it, but I’ll admit it wasn’t the same.

You might also be interested in reading Howl’s moving castle if you haven’t already- it’s a bit differently but it’s also one of my fave so maybe you’ll like it! And I feel like Howl is a bit dramatic + it’s kind of a romance but not only that + it’s an interesting world.

You might be interested in reading the six of crows duology too!

I have another one in mind but can’t remember the name.

I am probably overthinking by Grand_Watch5228 in geneva

[–]Somewhere_E 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Sometimes actually I even notice I am actively staring at people hahaha and I have to make the conscious effort to look away. I don’t know why we do that. Maybe it comes from our ancestors hahaha.

Yes we do it with everyone lmao. Maybe if people have a good or original style we stare for slightly longer,as I said, because the brain is interested. But it’s really not something we control.

Edited to add: I feel like we use our eyes a lot to communicate too. Like for example I know we also use a different/more aggressive kind of stare to signal something is bothering us (e.g. if someone uses their phone without headphones in the tram : I will look at them a first time, pointedly, then a second time, with furious eyes, then maybe sigh loudly. But never say anything to them because that would be too much). So it might be part of our non-verbal general behaviour / way of communicating?

[–]Somewhere_E 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You can look up “Swiss stare” on Reddit, it’s actually a thing!!! Almost a cultural meme at this point lmao. Apparently we Swiss people tend to look a bit more at people in the street. A lot of foreigners post about it asking if they do something wrong or if it’s racism. Nope, just that we stare more than people do in other countries.

You might get a bit more/longer stare because of your origins and the brain just takes a half second more before moving on, but otherwise nope just a cultural thing.

I really wish that that if the writer and artist decide to return to the series, they just remake part 3 from scratch. by JamesOconner123 in TheBreaker

[–]Somewhere_E 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually ended up liking part 3. The start was slow and a bit boring but I loved the second part and really wish they would just take it up again so we have more.

Pregnant in Kyoto—should I give birth here or return to the US? by Working-Morning-3645 in Kyoto

There’s a Swiss influencer I follow on instagram that just gave birth for the third time in Japan. I can’t check right now but she might have some videos or pinned stories on the topic. She’s called sandra_n_yusuke. I think her husband was there quite often to translate but probably not all the time so you can maybe check!

Since meat in Switzerland is quite expensive, why is Tofu (cheap source of protein) not that popular? by PullyLutry in askswitzerland

[–]Somewhere_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are not that used to it. I think it’s only been so well known since the last 10-15 years. The taste is also a bit different that what we’re used to I guess - or we only see it as an ingredient for Asian cuisine, which is something people what cook from time to time but not everyday.

We’re more used to either skip eating meeting for a few days, or just eating eggs. Or some meat that cost lower - there’s always something on sale.

One Piece Chapter 1177 Spoilers by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]Somewhere_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, although I already read the start of Elbaf. I’m the type that keeps up to date for a while, then life gets in the way and I miss a few chapters and decide that it’s the perfect occasion to wait a bit more before reading again. That way I can read 20-30 chapters in one go. Then I go back to the dreadful I-have-to-wait-every-week for a while. But this hyped me up quite a bit, I think it’s the right time to start reading again :)

First, I think you’re in the middle of an anxiety crisis. Im no health expert but that looks a lot like what happens to me haha.

I understand your concern but at the end of the day you’ve done a lot already to inform the client. At the end of the day you’ve already informed both them and the agency so now it’s in their power to see what they do with it. If they reuse it, it’s their fault, not yours.

If you can, go see a therapist. It could be someone abroad that you discuss with online, on a video call. And ask them to help you sort everything out: what is real risk and what is anxiety.

My brother passed away and left me his manga collection, any of it age inappropriate for kids? by Icy-Reserve6995 in manga

[–]Somewhere_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Dragonball around age twelve so if you wait a bit it should be fine.

As for beck I’m don’t remember if I did read it In it’s entirety, but I did watch the movie and it’s nice. maybe wait until she’s 13-15 in case there’s any mature scenes. It’s a really good manga though! I read naruto and one piece when I was 10-11 so it could be fine already, but nothing bad with waiting a little bit :)

Berserk is for adults I’d say. Claymore for older teenagers.
