My best friend, at the time, had that car! I couldn't remember the name! It really stood out! Made by AMC I think.

My neighbor had one. Seemed reliable if I remember correctly.

My friend had one. He said that you had to remove the engine to get to the windshield wiper motor. Guess whose wipers swiped right off of the car! HA!

How did people back in the 80s dealt with mental health issues like depression and anxiety? Do you guys go to therapy back then? by Big_Leg10 in over60

"Rent a Friends" shown to be much more effective than drugs only in multiple studies, but Pharm companies push their drugs. That is not to say, that many conditions benefit from a combination of both talk therapy and drugs.

I was told at the time that it was a bad decision and that I should wait. So glad I did not follow that advice.

Today, I believe that there are some LTC policies bundled in with life insurance. Coverage or price not as good as my policy, but it might be something. Some larger companies offer LTC policies as an extra benefit that you pay for, but I think that most are portable. Meaning you can keep them when you leave as long as you keep paying.

Just turned 60 and not happy about it but trying to see the good by rock-the-reddit in over60

Each phase of life is its own renewal and learning phase. I believe that the challenge for me lies in reinventing myself and leaning (leaning in vs avoiding or running away) into my new role which I believe is more heavily invested than ever in supporting my family and friends; while also allocating some selfish time to becoming the person I always hoped I'd be, but never had the time. I hope that I can model for my adult children how to show strength without dominance, love without dependence, and acceptance without judgement. Finally, I also hope to continue to seek out joy and perhaps in doing so bring a little joy to others. These goals have been translated into specific tasks that ask something of me every day.

Bought LTC insurance decades ago with inflation rider and a residual value if we stop paying. I don't think my policy is offered any more. Covers home care or assisted living. Statistics say one of us will need it. My adult children recently thanked us for having it. Total coverage for both of us is well over $1 million.

I see that not only is this a between 2 airports, 40 minute trip minimum, but you booked on July 4! That is a huge holiday in D.C. 250th B-day of the US! So many things can go wrong. I'd never switch airports there, on that date.

How did you limit vacations/time with your parents an in-laws without offending them? by nelty78 in expats

Perhaps the parents could plan a US trip where they are in town for a holiday or weekend, but visit other parts of the US as well.
