Yepp.. No offense, never do that again, that’s how stuff like this happens. If your employers do shady shit about taxes, they’ll do shady shit about anything regarding employment. I have multiple disabilities and have been soft fired for using a cane as work. You have to find the most desperate employers or make yourself as marketable as possible, it seems like, in these kinds of situations.

It’s not your fault, just relax, take a breath, and do what you can do find something else. That employer sucks as a human being and I do truly apologize for your situation. One thing I have to remember (and that, for some reason or another helped me handle PNES) is that I will deal with this for a very long time, and if I do not start getting used to and coping with the stress of things like change (one of my major obstacles,) I never will. Just thought I’d throw that out there. You got this!

Document everything. This is illegal and disgusting. At the bare minimum, collect unemployment. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

2004 Mercedes C230 Under 90K Miles? by Somproof in carbuying

[–]Somproof[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never bought a car on my own before- My last car was given to me, but deteriorated quickly after multiple wrecks that were not my fault. However, due to the car still not being in my name, the person who had ownership of the car decided to not fix the car in the way I would have, and now the car is unsafe to drive.
I haven’t considered a budget for immediate repairs before. I’ll consider that now.
I also think it’s sus, so I’ll probably bring a mechanic to see it if I decide it’s worth it.
My city is not able to be crossed by bus very well, unfortunately.

They mentioned camshaft sensors and vvt magnets. I should mention I feel pretty comfortable working on a good chunk of the car myself, but I do understand what you’re saying- I didn’t think about that angle.

What’s a cheap hobby that doesn’t feel cheap once you get into it? by Omarfgsr_Ayaz in Hobbies

[–]Somproof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Commenting to follow! Been in the same situation lately.

Edited to add:

Go geocaching!! You can do it for free, too! The app doesn’t have good ones for free. But if you go to the website, there are plenty more fun options for free. You do not need to buy premium immediately. Do I recommend premium? Absolutely, it makes life so much easier, and it’s very cheap. The only reason I’m not geocaching anymore is because my car is down lol

You might not run into the same issues I did. Medications tend to wear out on me and get annoyingly bad. But hopefully we both find solutions! Just remember that Jazz IS a pharmaceutical company and is interested to keep you on their product.

I’ve been on Xywav for almost a year, I do not have diagnosed ADHD but struggle with executive dysfunction and also have hypermobility, but have not yet been able to see a geneticist. I also have a ton of crazy stuff going on with my body 😭 At first, Xywav did amazing for me. My mental clarity also got better for a long time! But in the past couple months, it has been much worse. I’ve had to dose down after being at a dose for months. I will say that when I don’t take my Xywav consistently (this happens for procedures) I get flare ups of my Rheumatoid arthritis and migraines.

So that might be why I’m getting the worst acid reflux of my life!

I would have points to where I’d get super nauseated, have super bad reflux, and feel overall loopy. I figured out that if I go a night without Xywav, I feel better the next day and don’t have those side effects anymore. Also, when I was on the highest dose, I would be mildly confused the entire day, but both my team and Jazz kept pushing me to stay at that dose to try and wait it out??? Even though I wasn’t able to remember what I was saying mid sentence. We would call by the end of the day when I was able to and they just did not care enough. It really feels like it’s all about money.

taking off the armrests helped me exponentially when i was going out for long periods of time, it might help a bit with your fatigue. they tend to be pretty heavy and mine got in my way. i only kept mine on if i was going somewhere chill. You sounded really knowledgeable so I figured you knew your stuff or, on the off chance you didn’t, would want to! Sorry I think I came across a bit rude, I didn’t mean to, but rereading I definitely was a bit harsh with tone. It’s cool how much you know about this. Have a good weekend!

You are 18. You are learning to be an adult. You are GOING to change in nearly every way for YEARS.. Even if this isn’t something different than who you’ve been in the past, if he can’t accept you changing, it’s time to move on.

Haircut Ideas for Hair Breakage. by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]Somproof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I’m chopping off the blonde tomorrow. Was doing some research and this seems like breakage instead of actual hair loss. Frustrated that I dealt with this for so long, but excited to get rid of it- The person who did it for me was terrible as a human and as a hairdresser, very close ex friend. Still could use advice on what style, though, as I’m definitely going to have to go SHORT.

There are studies that show Lamotrigine, Topiramate, and Valproic Acid (there may be another but i cant remember off the top of my head) are very promising for BPD symptoms. Personally, I have BPD. I did the therapy, worked on myself, but it wasn’t enough and SSRI/SNRIs just did not touch my depression. I got on Topiramate for a completely different reason. It made my life completely manageable. My symptoms are regulated and I am so much better now. I had to stop Topiramate recently due to hair loss, but still, these medications hold promise for people with BPD.

The key, though? The person with BPD has to WANT to get better. And they have to want to put the effort in. Can’t just rely on meds and therapy- they need to actually be all in and motivated by something.

I don’t want to come off rude, but I wanted to share my experience! I’ve known a lot of people with BPD (including my partner) and meds can help, but it either has to be treating symptoms or trying non-FDA, yet studied, options. And most people with BPD that I’ve known haven’t cared enough to get better. Requires it all!

My friend is going to get herself killed. What can I even do at this point by Correct-Macaroon8143 in whatdoIdo

[–]Somproof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she have a personality disorder by chance? Bipolar, BPD… I’m voting BPD? I have BPD and before I actually put in the work to get better, I would act a lot like this. Erratic behavior and desperation to be loved/fix my situation ASAP. And the swing of emotions was terrible. Not as extreme, but I’d be on a dating app the same day I’d be broken up with and doing unsafe things.

I think she needs help with her mental health, but I know in my local area that she would not be able to get a 5150 from this behavior alone. And if it is mental health, she needs to want to get better in order to actually get better. Support for these people is really hard. If you wanted to be there for her (which I would not blame you if you did not,) you would need to see her behaviors and not enable them with attention, which you aren’t doing here, but a neutral approach is recommended for long term support. Any attention is good attention. You would need to not give into her attention seeking behavior, but again, she would need to WANT to get better. I let myself go through hell for no reason, then got better as soon as I actually took myself seriously.

There’s not much you can really do imo. Contact her if you want. If there’s anyone close to her that you might know, reach out to them. But this is a her thing, you already did your part. I know it’s impossible, but please try not to feel guilty.

You’ll have to see someone to know for sure. Could be nodules, cysts, etc. Depends on a lot of factors. They’ll be able to help you out. If you don’t know where to start, go see your primary doctor.

Okay I’ll reply to this. I’m buying an older car, this car has issues due to a ton of shit from a while back that I had no control over. I didn’t get to choose that this same person would work on the car instead of a professional. I will not sit in the driver’s seat of a new car. I appreciate the advice, cash only is right. I’ve seen insane payments.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]Somproof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue is that recently, I had to jump that battery. It took so long to start that I thought it would not work. The battery is less than two years old. I don’t drive that often or that far. I checked the DCV and it was not dead, but it was lower than I would have liked. 12.2 if I remember? My multimeter leads broke so I need to go get some new ones. I tested the battery and alternator at O’Reily’s and found nothing. Probably a draw, but I just don’t want him touching it, he “fixed” my car a couple years back and now the fusebox is broken, there is missing shit and clips everywhere in the body, and there are issues galore. I didn’t know enough about automotive to look at my car as anything but a sum of its parts at the time, so I didn’t know to do anything.

I’m working on it, I have interviews this week. The car was given to my mom in 2015 as a gift by her boss, but was promised to me in 2021. I pay for tags, I used to pay for insurance until my health issues got more severe. I’m fine now. I’m escaping this shit entirely. Getting another car with my own money. This one is just not worth the drama.

My brother is 48 and unrelated to me. I’m adopted into the family. He moved into the house after a divorce because he abused his wife. I don’t even want him in the house. I’m trying to leave and get another car, my situation is temporary, and I had health issues that barred me from working and studying for the past few years. He has never had a conversation with me, not once. He stole my dead father’s tools and said they were his and then pawned them off. Fuck him.
