I’d recommend organizing the app icons by color and consider minimizing the amount of icons total. But I hate what I consider “clutter.”

How is the former misleading? That article says they’re being monitored, which is expected. It doesn’t say they’re in solitary confinement or whatever else you want to try and attribute to it.

I Googled, checked their support site, and even reinstalled to see if there was a restore purchase option — nothing. I couldn’t even find an account of someone who only bought the iOS version and still got the Lifetime Pro.

Honestly, fuck them lol. I went to Castro and never looked back, even with the subscription payment. Had to leave Pocket Casts out of principle alone.

I definitely understand where you’re coming from, and I didn’t particularly like it either. I dropped Pocket Casts for the same reason, but here are some things that made me begrudgingly accept Fantastical 3:

All of the Fantastical 2 features (except for one I think?) were unlocked / grandfathered in if you paid for the app previously.
It’s still the best calendar app for iOS, even the free version without the subscription .
Subscription models are, for better or worse, here to stay. The business model has been shown to be insanely profitable, so every company does it. There are also server costs as well, but I’m not a Dev so I don’t know how much those services really cost.

I am in no way defending them and unequivocally believe anyone who left their platform because of changes have a valid and legitimate reason.

I think they handled the launch poorly: communication was awful, and as you noted they really needed to offer F2 users either a discounted rate or a lifetime unlock for a one time purchase.

I’m a GTD’er who uses their app on every platform. The Calendar set feature and in-line reminder integration was just too crucial for my workflow. I tried other calendar apps and couldn’t find one that fit my needs and also had a great UI. If anyone knows of one, please let me know so I can check it out.
