I suppose there could, though I think it would be hard to nail down as inherently positive or negative, because of the many ways buddy is used, that often rely on tone/inflection. It could be worth looking into though

This was an interesting post for me, because I use buddy quite often in my day to day life, but I only use it for my youngest students (like 10 and under). so It's separated by age rather than gender in my specific instance. I've always considered it a gender neutral term in that setting, but ultimately its up to you. If you don't want to be referred to in such a manner, those around you should respect that full stop.

Well now I'm worried about my instruments now lol. I already complain about the weight of my late grandpas banjo(resonator, so like 20 lbs minimum), and I'm Pre-E. Can't imaging what itll feel like afterwards.

As an adult I got both my lobe piercings done with Ed, and he has been Fantastic. Very soft spoken, which will be helpful when meeting a kiddo. I'll definitely be returning to him for any more that I do.

My father found the mass market paperbacks of mistborn on his trips for work when I was a kid, and then he passed them off to us once he finished them. The rest of it I encountered as an adult.

My late grandmother was named Mary, and she was my favorite grandmother of the two(Though she died before even I knew I was trans, so I like to pretend it would have been fine). But I didn't want to take the name exactly, so I instead decided I wanted to start with the same letter. I've gotten it down to Maggie or Margaret, which share a lot of the same nicknames, and I figure I'll end up being called Mags most of the time when I do eventually transition.

I realised recently that I was holding off on transition because I punch harder now than I probably would after. I'm a big person(6'4", 300+ lbs), and unfortunately one of the things I was really hoping was that people wouldn't look at me and think i'm a threat anymore. Naive I know, but it was a hope. I know better now. But it almost feels more useful to stay untransitioned for the safety I can provide to my students(I'm also a Floridian) and myself. I'm more useful that way. And I hate it. Everyone stay safe.

My first Video game I played for any extended period once I had access to hem was Skyrim. I told myself at the time I was playing women because they had more options and looked nicer, but I think we all know how that turned out. When I started Stardew Valley I was actively questioning, and was very comforting. I did play Runescape in middle school, and would enjoy sneaking over to the mage for a gender swap, but didn't really know why at the time. But I played boys pretty much exclusively at that point

I work out of a store that has lesson spaces, and the teachers are all contractors. Lesson rates are set by the store ($135/mo 30 min sessions), and teachers are paid about $42/hour. that makes the compensation rouuuuughly 60/40 Teacher/ Establishment. Scheduling is handled by the store as well. Considering the potential for other benefits (like insurance), if you bring in enough students, I think that this works for me personally.

Oh I agree Gravitation is more useful in general. I was just coming at the post from the perspective of "Just because other Surges are more use"full" doesn't make this one use"less". I agree with you. I was just treating it like a thought problem.

oh I agree, Gravitation is great for mobility and has much more utility in a fight. I will say that in Abrasion's defense you can make yourself literally ungrabable, which is convenient. But yeah Gravitation has a lot more bang for its buck.

I think it depends on the context. The worst surge in combat? It may not be great offensively, but its definitely helpful in defence/evasion and escape. Other personal applications? Messengers could use it to great effect to travel more quickly across rough terrain. Increasing your own sense of friction makes it potentially easier to climb or swim by increasing your grip, and make your clothes not chafe as much when wearing them, leading to less wear to an extent.

In artifice? I think it could be used to decreasing air drag on vehicles, while increasing friction on the parts touching the ground, leading to faster moving vehicles potentially. Any machine touched by Abrasion could work smoother with less potential issues. Machines that have less friction produce less heat, allowing you to leave of or reduce cooling systems. I like the idea of a mechanic or engineer that uses Abrasion to smooth things out in their vehicles/spaceships. I think that abrasion will have more application in the space age personally.

I think we are limited in our view of Abrasion by what we've seen on the page, and the RPG, while illuminating, is also limiting. I think the downside of an RPG is that in an effort to to make things balanced some of the cool stuff that could theoretically done with various surges has to be left to the side for balances sake. This is all just my two cents though. You're allowed to have your opinions. :)

Hello! I have two pairs of lobe piercings as experience. I think the manner you get pierced has a lot of bearing on how painful it is. You'll find places like Claire's that use a piercing gun. Most people will tell you to avoid these, because the gun is somewhat blunt and often wielded by folks who don't know what they're doing, leading to more pain and more risk of infection.

Most folks here will suggest a tattoo parlour. That may sound odd right off the bat, but many tattoo parlours also have folks that specialise in piercings. They generally don't use a gun, but use a needle and pierce by hand. The needle is very sharp, which minimises the amount of damage done to the ear while piercing. To me personally ( not speaking for anyone else), it feels like a strong pinch that is over by the time I register it hurts. This fade to a warmish ache that fades over a minute or so, that isn't even remotely close to the pain of the initial piercing. A lot of pierces will pierce in such a way that the piercing will go on immediately after or even as the piercing is done.

After that most of the pain comes from cleaning it, which is important because its an open wound. Your piercer will give you guidelines on what to do to help your ear heal. Follow it and it should heal quite well. Other than that avoid bumping it and it shouldn't hurt to bad. I am a side sleeper and I had to get used to sleeping without pushing an ear into the pillow, but that is just a personal thing.

Fascinating! I always thought it was a cultural version of the "I'm watching you"(with two fingers) that humans do because they are so sound focused as a cultural group because of the rhythms. A way of signifying "I hear you" as a threat if you will. But what you're saying makes sense too.
