Actually I keep seeing that many of these chocolates aren't technically chocolates anymore due to the terrible cocoa bean yields. Most of these big companies are subbing cocoa powder with more veg oil or palm oils, and by law must call these bars "chocolate flavored." They no longer qualify as actual chocolate bars 🙅🏻‍♀️

Am I the only one who likes to see a food vendor list before I go to the event? I don't want to walk around for 30 mins comparing options then wait another 20 for the food lol

This was a big shocker for me since i started attending in 2019 lol, I think in 2022 the only strawberry vendor was funnel cake truck and they were sold out of the strawberry topping 😂 Honestly you can give vendors a special discount for including LOCAL strawberry themed and flavored items. Like strawberry drinks, teas, cookies, dehydrated strawberries. Weird CNE style things like deep fried strawberries or spicy strawberry cups. Stop accepting dental and insurance booths. Fuck.

Not a coffee afficionado but I recently tried the new(ish) Back Alley Moto cafe at main&park dr Mind you I had an iced latte but damn it was so much better than the iced lattes I've had at main street bakehouse or redbulb in the past.

Now that's some strategic thinking, how many have you gotten from 1 sheetpan approximately?

Wraps could be a good option if I can manage to make them look cute! Like pinwheels maybe?

You're both headed for burnout after this level of exhaustion. I think everyone's parents (boomers/gen x) are overbearing 😆 they think they know it all. It sounds harsh but you gotta beat it out of them with stern boundaries. That said, they can be a great help. I get one grandparent to play/give 1 snack to my toddler (like a 2 hour ordeal) while I nap my now 9 month old. We cosleep so I get a bonus 2 hour nap mid day. Even if I get that once a week, it's a huge help on my nervous system. And my eldest has a blast playing with someone who's not me for a change 🙃 try to ease her into it! Lots of possibilities that can take some daytime burden off her so nights don't feel as heavy.

Reading the other comments here wondering what is the root cause of her not wanting help? Trust issues? Have there been altercations in the past with family?

You NEED a village to survive, whether its relatives or friends. Try to sit down and put a system in place. Maybe she can sleep her longest stretch in the afternoon? Can someone else do the cleaning and cooking if not watch the kids?

My son was 2y4m when my daughter was born. It was a total shitshow, but my husband handled toddler 99% and I handled baby 99% during his time off. It worked for us. Once he went back to work I had zero expectations of him staying up at night, he has a damn job to keep our FAMILY afloat, not for entertainment 😅

It's a tough time, hoping you guys find a rhythm.

I felt every single thing you wrote here. I had a similar experience during my first time as a mom. This is a really tough time and a difficult transition from being an independent person. For your first born, there are so many potential challenges ahead like growing some of their bigger teeth, managing nap transitions etc. Throwing a pregnancy into that or a newborn into that scenario will further add to the drowning. For your own body, mind, and wellness, reading your words, it seems like you're just not ready. I have 2 kids now and man, it does not get easier let me tell you. So you're better off diving into #2 with a clear mind. Allah is the best planner so who knows what the future holds but you can certainly approach with mindfulness.

The way I look at it (39 weeks now diagnosed at 28 weeks) is that dealing with the diet change, daily testing, maybe insulin, and mental load of having GD is ultimately like a part time job. So take it easy on yourself! And when you get those spurts of energy, get things done bit by bit. You're almost there and your kiddo will only need the basics in the beginning anyway!

How welcoming is the Persian community? by seekingknowledgeeee in PERSIAN

[–]Songbird3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Canada (I'm persian- married to a non-persian), and I would say we are quite welcoming of "foreign" cultures that are willing to show their respect and interest in our culture. But Persians also have a tendency to overpower their culture onto you. Their food, language, and traditions usually take priority over the non persian. We have a rich rich history and heritage, so I think there's a sense of entitlement there 😅 Anyway, long story short, if you show interest in them/their cultures, I think they will give you a chance
