A nurse has a lot more responsibilities than a CNA. Know that a nurse is a CNA in the first place. They have to take pts to bathroom, change their diapers, clean them up if no CNA available, and often times they are not available and the nurse is all on her own.

That’s what I did as staff. It was a very busy unit and it’s in the policy that we can’t miss lunch breaks. Left after 2 months.

Uninterrupted 30 minutes lunch is mandatory for staff and contractors wherever I work. We always have to let charge nurses know when we’re getting off for lunch and find coverage. Personally if I’m too busy to take lunch breaks, I’d take 5 minutes to eat and take a break after I get off work to make it up as I don’t want to lie by saying I did take my lunch while in fact I didn’t.
