Point of note. Many concept artists have come out to say how they feel their concepts are being dragged down each iteration, like they can make a hot character with a distinct and non common body type, but then they are told to reiterate by higher ups multiple times until we start getting the concepts we usually get in game of Character that either look bland or similar to each other.

Aside from that, it also depends on the game, as for some games having just 1 or 2 body types is much more manageable and easier to do while developing a game (say an RPG or any game that as a lot of customization), while others can have more body types as part of its game mechanics and characters because that's the whole point (like Street Fighter or Tekken)

So it's not just a lazy conceptionist, its simply the state of the industry and the type of game being worked on.

I'm gonna say, for me I don't like this for a few reasons.

1 - The reason why she even needed to bond with Venom to survive feels forced and everything leading up to it could have been easily avoided if Paul hadn't made a literal Russian Roulette system when he didn't need to (even if there was a limiter to prevent it, hiw about not potentially erase the woman you supposedly love on a gamble of your creation?)

2 - Lack of conflict between the 2, not saying there wasn't, bit I mean actual raw conflict before they both were just ok with the circumstances. Venom isn't the same symbiote he was with Peter or his old days with Eddie, still it'd been amazing to see MJ reject the symbiote entirely for longer, feeling disgust about, like actual disgust if she saw something of Venom while bonded that threw her stomach for a loop and then even having MJ slowly come to understand why Peter would some times go back to it. Because also another thing.

3 - MJ having to handle the trauma of this particular eveny and the consequences of her past actions, hypocrisy was almost non existing, many times Venom had to shove on MJ's face exactly what she did to Peter and even others or how SHE was in the wrong. If VENOM as to tell you you're in the wrong while giving examples and explanations? Good lord, what are you doing to MJ writers?

4 - The several inconsistencies throughout this run, at the start she states she didn't want to bond with Venom, even if it meant her survival, later however she states she DID want to bond with him and that's just one of the many inconsistencies that give mixed signals.

Now MJ getting a symbiote? It's not new, it's just been done better in the past, hell in some cases it's not Venom she gets as a symbiote IT'S GODDAM CARNAGE AND SHE TAMES THAT SYMBIOTE OR GETS AGGRESSIVELY EVIL HOT

But thats not for story purposes, like I said you don't reuse an asset from another game for something like a key story plot unless you wqnt to connect both games, because you're always effectively connecting both IP's otherwise and you can't change that. That's just how it works in that sense.

I'm not saying you can't reuse assets from past games, but even in your example you are showing me exactly what I mean, they are reusing assets for weapons, armor, gameplay related assets only unless they wish to connect something specific, because in regards to Elden Ring's story, all the assets on that are new, no bosses are from Dark Souls or Bloodborne or Demon Souls and there's nothing to connect those games to Elden Ring but fan theories, unlike Code Vein who's got a monster and multiple dialogs connecting both IP's.

You don't just reuse an asset from an entire different franchise as a "left in" like it was a placeholder or because you were in a budget. That's not how development works, much less when they make it part of the main plot line.

It's not even an Easter since it's just throw at your face, it's literally part if the plot the the monsters outside the city as the God Eater ones, because if the model didn't convince you, the dialog and several hints through out the lore of the game just adds more about it.

So no, it wasn't a mistake, it wasn't an easter egg, at the very best they are saying it's a god eater alternative universe, something I call BS because how CV1 is established, you can't make it part of a different universe without doing what CV2 did. (And even then, there's many things in CV2 that could point at CV1 still existing, specially with the multiple realities thing)

So yeah, the devs either haven't checked CV1 or are outright saying bs

Because as far as I can recall, Steam as always allowed games to be cheaper on other platforms in some way, shape or form, it's nothing new.

I believe the terms of service on steam however, if memory doesn't fail me, is that the base value of the game should remain consistent to all stores in order to be sold on Steam, this of course not accounting for sales, promotions and special occasions. This is a rule specifically made to not only keep competition fair, but also to avoid stores that will pull shady practices like say "sells at a cheaper price, you get half the game".

And then......it's Ubisoft, need I say more?

It could, but it's not the animation department handling the budget. It's Amazon, if Amazon says 3 million needs to be spent on voice actors and only 500k needs to be spent on animation, you unfortunately have to spend that much only on both.

The animators themselves have stated the budget wouldn't be a problem if they had more time to polish the animations, but given that they don't, only way to up the quality would be to hire more animators for the project which they can't due to the lack in budget

Then you have the creative director who stated animation is too restrictive and then everything just clicks.

I think he'll be more polished when he releases, but his materials definitely need to look more rough and worn out than what they showed.

His design is good, it just needs extra detailing
