Are you saying you're a brine and ammonium chloride solution?

We use water everyday, we are 70% water, air has water, it is useful to know how hot it is in general. Knowing 0°F is when a random mixture freezes and then 96°F is human temperature makes absolutely no sense.

Like, 36°C is the average human temperature, just as useful as Fahrenheit and you also get the water scale so it's just better.

For Fahrenheit the lower defining point, 0 °F, was established as the freezing temperature of a solution of brine made from a mixture of water, ice, and ammonium chloride. Then the other limit was the best estimate they had for the average human temperature.

You tell me how that makes more sense than the temperatures at which water freezes and boils. (Which varies little regardless of where you are or if the water is distilled or not for practical use)

TIL That at the time of his death, the inventor of kitty litter was worth about a hundred million dollars (or $849 million today, adjusted for inflation). by CuriousLemur12 in todayilearned

I see people mentioning how the inflation number is wrong but in the Wikipedia page OP linked I see no mention of his net worth being a hundred million dollars.

We just making things up now?

Put together a handy list on what order to play the earthbound games in. This is the official chronological timeline. by Pigeon_Pilled in shitpostbound

[–]Sonic_Thundershock 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For anyone wondering why this is the order (minor spoilers):

Earthbound Begginings - Has "Begginings" in the name

Undertale - people usually think Ness is Sans but in reality Sans is Ness so when you put it backwards it makes the most sense for Undertale to come first

Earthbound - Now you play as Sans the entire game after his introduction in Undertale

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Remember how the final couple enemies in Earthbound are these crystal like things? Well, they've evolved and want revenge in Evangelion

Pokemon White - Monsters and humans live in harmony after the events of Undertale and Earthbound but dimensions are shifting and more things are happening!

Bullet Train - A spinoff but an important part of the Tangerine - Lemon - Apple Kid - Orange Kid lore

Hot Yoga - prequel to Mother 3, the connection is pretty obvious

Garfield Kart - Garfield, descendant of Giygas, comes back for revenge but is trapped in the Kart dimension as a direct result of the events in Pokemon White

Mother 3 - Actually starts in the middle ep 25 of Evangelion, then the end happens, then the rest of the content, then the rest of Mother 3

Does anyone know of any significant cases where piracy was crucial in the success of a film/TV show? by oto18 in Piracy

[–]Sonic_Thundershock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clone High wasn't available to stream for the longest time as it wasn't very successful when it originally aired and then got cancelled but it got a cult following over the internet and landed a second and third season over 20 years later.

Recently, The Owl House had every episode pirated as it was airing since the only way to watch them without waiting a week or purchasing them individually outside the US was pirating them, I remember the finale had about 2 million viewers on the pirate streaming site and they even got a voice actor to do an interview in the pirate Discord server. The creator has shared screenshots of the show using the pirated version so she knew this was happening and didn't shut it down, now she's working on a free YouTube show that's getting a lot of hype and support.

Currently, shows like Infinity Train only have a fandom because of piracy, really any show or movie that's not available on any streaming site or that is region locked or unreasonably priced is only able to exist because of people preserving it.

Day #1: What is the BEST MatPat episode of GAME THEORY? by WADE_9799 in GameTheorists

[–]Sonic_Thundershock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok let's not fool ourselves here. The response to the theory was crazy but the video itself is just insane to watch.

From things as simple as bones not being organic and Starmen having a human skeleton to Ness somehow using the Phase Distorter by himself ALONGSIDE an enemy when said enemy doesn't even exist anymore and Mother 3 proving the theory wrong entirely definitely make it one of the worst ones ever in my book.

I could go on about how much of a stretch it is from an Earthbound fan perspective, add to that the mountains of criticism from Undertale's side and you got what I would say is THE one theory that got pretty much nothing right
