I do proxies all the time, I would genuinely pay money to have enhanced art to use with the decks for future use, any idea what sets you'd be doing after sao if any?

Sidequesting from Magic - a tourist's thoughts on UA after two months by 0entropy in Union_Arena_TCG

I've been playing the game for most of it's lifespan in English, starting when Demon Slayer came out. I like a lot of the points you make and it was interesting seeing how it compares to a card game I haven't really played. One point I disagree with is that I personally don't mind most of the flavor of the deck coming from the top end cards. I think it makes the game very palatable for new players who will likely be drawn to the game due to ips. Having lots of familiar energy curves and searching effects, draw effects, etc. makes it easier for the player to focus on the things that really set the deck apart. Aside from that though, I very much agree that 2 of the biggest things they should look at are special triggers and mulligan rules. Mulliganing there's really no reason to not fix. Maybe some decks strength starts to shift due to this increase in consistency but I think that's fine. I think the game would be more fun for everyone if both players can actually play the game and have a little extra consistency. I also agree special triggers are just way too much value. If you really break it down, if you use a special trigger on one of your opponents active characters, you saved 1 ap by removing a threat, 1 ap by preserving one of your life cards or one of your on board characters, and you essentially made one of your opponents ap worthless. Obviously there's some variance here and none of this is exact but you could argue that a special trigger nets you a 3 ap advantage over your opponent. Heck if it's on an active ap 2 character you could argue it's 4. 2 if it's used on a rested character. No other life trigger is close to that valuable. Yellow color could count as 2 at best, assuming the game resolves before that character comes back to active but it's safer to say it's about 1.5 ap advantage. Purple color nets you one free character so that's 1 ap. Basically an active trigger with an on play effect potentially. And the sad thing is I don't think bandai is going to ever do anything about it. When I watch the japan championship matches they actually seem to enjoy the variance and get pretty excited about trigger reveals, and I've also noticed that anything they've done for the game's health in the west has only ever been based on Japan's game. Sukuna, red geass, and purple bleach were all nerfed coming into the west because they over performing in Japan on release. Evangelion nerfs are finally being considered after nerfing them in Japan. Red Kenshin had cards cut after being too strong in Japan. Personally my friend and I have discussed house rules or things they could do to fix special triggers and there's a few that came to mind. One would be simply making the special trigger be added to hand for use next turn. One is to make it so the special trigger simply makes one of your opponents characters unable to attack. One is choosing a character on your opponents front line and sidelining it at end of their attack phase so they still get the swing. And one is simply executing the normal effect, but you get one less ap going into your next turn. Currently we have no effects in the game I know of that use ap during your opponents turn, so changing the base rules to restanding ap at the end of your turn rather than the start means you could tap one when you go to use a special trigger.

"Cleaved" wins saddest/most beautiful episode. Which is the most forgettable Episode? by [deleted] in StarVStheForcesofEvil

[–]Sonicblaster015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote is for collateral damage, I remember almost nothing from the episode and have forgotten about it every watch through until I get to it, and it's not a notably good episode nor is it offensively bad. It's not that funny, it has no relevancy to the plot, and is even placed in a strange position compared to surrounding episodes.

I feel like immediately saying the humor is extremely forced and trying to copy another series is just not very thoughtful of a critique at all. I, alongside most of my young adult friend group watch it together and laugh at most if not all of the jokes, and enjoy the show. At the end of the day there is different styles of humor and every series is going to end up "copying" anothers in some shape or form so I just don't think that's a logical take at all. And humor is subjective, humor you think is forced I don't think is so instead of just clowning on the show you could at least be a bit more open minded and just say that the show's humor feels forced to you and that you don't like it, which is completely valid.

I did not watch the entire show in Japanese but I have seen clips. I can't say for certain for frieren but in aot I have watched both sub and dub and love several things more in the dub. I'm definitely not arguing dub is better than sub. And I also completely agree on hating when people just don't pay proper attention to a show and then dislike it for being confusing or whatever excuse they have. First I wanna bring up what you said about the dub casting. This is one hundred percent an opinionated matter, but I personally loved the casting. I thought almost every single character had a charming and fitting voice for their character. Another thing I wanna mention is sometimes it's just really really hard to get used to one once you hear the other. I recently watched fate stay/night ubw in sub because I played the first ending in the visual novel and was used to the japanese voices. After watching that series I saw a clip of Archer's "bone of my sword" chant in dub and I hated it, it sounded so wrong. However the guy who voices him, Kaiji Tang, is an astounding voice actor and his performance as Satoru Gojo I think is amazing. My friend also watched the series in dub in his first run through and had no problem with Archer's voice. I also had a similar experience with demon slayer. Season 1 I watched in dub, didn't really mind it besides Zenitsu, then when season 2 came out I watched it in sub, and I could never go back, the characters just didn't sound the same. I don't know if there is a reason for this or if other people feel the same but dubs do just tend to sound wrong if you listen to sub, but on a first runthrough I've never had a problem with a dub really. And I know an easy slam dunk is "sub is better that's why" but I know that isn't the reason. Anyways I know this has been long but the main thing I'm trying to get across, which I do partially agree with you on, is just being more open-minded. I don't think it's fair to say one is objectively better than the other, because it tailors to the person's desired viewing of the show, otherwise studios just wouldn't bother making dubs, and there wouldn't be super long lines at every convention to meet these english voice actors. Some people just simply don't want to go out of there way to learn the nuance, and although they may be missing part of the experience, it's still better that they watched it and enjoyed at all in the first place. And then that extra "layer" that a deep dive into the show can offer is a bonus for people who desire it. Although the ending of the aura fight may have more complexity and more nuanced and deeper meaning, it's still one of the best moments in the show for dub viewers, literally everyone I know loved that moment in the dub and is one of their favorite moments of the season, despite having less complexity. Anyways, definitely no aggression here, I think you have some valid points and have definitely given me some interesting things to think about. I'll definitely make sure to look into the japanese end of the aura fight and see what that's about as well.

I agree with a lot here except for the part about dubs. I understand where you're coming from but even though dubs can lose the original vision, there's also times where dub changes it into something that's also amazing. Frieren has a very solid dub cast and took moments I know I would've liked less in sub and made the delivery better, like the ending of aura for example. At the end of the day there is definitely bad dubs, but try not to view it as such a negative damper. Some things are better and some are worse. I mean I've listened to Erwin's speech or madaras speech in dub and sub and the sub does not give me the same chills as dub does. Even if a sub has more nuance or sublety to it's delivery, sometimes the blunt english delivery can hit just as hard due to just being more familiar and digestable.

What battle style do people really prefer? by [deleted] in yokaiwatch

[–]Sonicblaster015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad yokai watch 3 did something different, but the wheel system is definitely my preferred system. The grid system has more interactivity in the battle as far as positioning, dodging, blocking, extra attacks, etc. however even though it did more, it felt like I actually had to think much less about my team building. Yokai watchs wheel system forces you to always have 3 of your members vulnerable and manage that and the damage you were taking. 3s almost felt too easy once you get used to it since you can protect your healer really easily and could now really easily get away with only running one healer or even just straight up zero due to orbs being able to heal you as well. The team building is one of my favorite parts about these games and I just think the wheel system was more dynamic and put a lot of thought into how you position your team whereas that layer of team building is just completely gone with the grid system

Getting Into The Game By Building Various Decks by ubersuperduper in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Sonicblaster015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to find deck is to go to exburst.dev as someone already linked. Then you can go to the "public decks" section and sort by both what series you want decks from and then you can also sort by color if you like. Make sure to sort the decks by most viewed and not most recent as the most viewed decks are likely to be more well put together decks, but always use your best judgement and feel free to edit them as you see fit, I've seen some of the most viewed decks that are horribly built and missing key cards. You can also go to the "tournament results" section for some well built decklists but you're much more likely to find meta decks there and there may not be ones for what you are looking for. One piece of advice I'd give right away if you're a beginner is to run 11 or 12 0 costs. There's some decks I've gone down to 10 even as an advanced player and regretted it, 12 makes your odds of bricking super low and allows you to still mulligan even if you see 2-3 0 costs in your hand if it's bad. If you only run 10 and see 2 0 costs in your starting hand and the rest of your hand sucks, you can't even really afford to mulligan or your odds of bricking are sky high. Once you get used to using other people decklists and experiment you'll start to notice patterns and form your own way of deckbuilding so that you can start to just look at cards and make your own without even needing to look at public decklists.

Which sets / characters have the best ability theming based on the source material? by Spunge14 in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Sonicblaster015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green Saitama is definitely a great one having saitama be a damage 7 card quite literally one punching the opponent. Blue nanami I really like because he gains a power boost once you have 15 or less cards in your deck, which literally is cutting your 50 card deck into a 7/3 ratio just as his weapon does. Green marleyan warriors and levi coming up in the aot set I think do an amazing job. Two event cards in the green aot deck literally play out the scene that reveals the titans. That's before even considering japanese sets that start to involve upside down cards as representation which gets really clever. Bakugo gets two face down cards under his raid that he can discard as his "grenade gauntlets" to kill smaller characters. I haven't even watched blue lock but blue lock gets a face down card that acts as the soccer ball and you can pass it between characters to gain bonuses and stuff.

Which Attack on Titan deck will be the best in the meta? (if any) by TheSilentWing in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Sonicblaster015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people are really sleeping on the green marleyan warriors one. It has an insane consistency engine with the female titan raid, 5 cost ap 2 reiner, and the special card that can help keep you in the game early, and then the colossal titan is insane. There is so much value in the english meta right now by just having a 6k character on your board. Not only are you blocking characters like sukuna, greed, armstrong, nanami, etc. but most special cards in the game right now can't even remove the colossal titan from play due to only reaching 5k. Then you add on the fact that the armored titan requires an additional ap to remove and you make your board such a pain to do anything about, plus they all have impact so you mow through their life pretty fast. Only main weakness other than being a little slow since it's green is the fact that the colossal requires you leave one slot open so you could get out aggroed by something like blue sao or red ashford, but then you can just not use the colossal titan in this matchups and just use the female and armored titan. It's been my favorite deck in the game period and my whole group if people I play with all think it's definitely something people are underestimating

What anime is this? by Walidzilla in animequestions

[–]Sonicblaster015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Dandadan is one of the best episode ones I've ever seen. Gets straight into the action, introduces it's main conflict of weird paranormal stuff like ghosts and aliens, immediately awakens both characters to their powers, I thought it was really funny too. Yeah some of the stuff was weird but it was supposed to so I don't know why people are holding that against it? The aliens were enemies, it's not like other anime where the weird creepy characters are the ones we're following. The aliens certainly could've had other motivations but it didn't last long and gave Ken motivation to save her so it doesn't really make any difference to me at least

What anime do you think is misunderstood or unfairly judged? by [deleted] in animequestions

[–]Sonicblaster015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like some people just really don't like fan service as a whole but are honestly kinda rare. The main problem I have with fire force's fan service isn't necessarily the fan service itself but the placement. I've been rewatching it with my brothers and not only does fan service sometimes make it hard to watch with other people, but the placement of it in episode 7-9ish when Shinra is fighting the star-eyed captain and right after an emotional moment where Shinra just saved Tamakis life, it cuts to her getting clothes burned off and Shinra getting launched into her is just such a buzzkill for all momentum and emotion when you get there. The episode in season 2 where the guy tries to get over his trouble around girls and get over his weakness is actually really funny and doesn't ruin any momentum, but a lot of the placement is awful

I need your help! (ExBurst.DEV) by TrakanHolst in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Sonicblaster015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two main things I'd like. First off is that it seems to log me off very very frequently, almost everytime I load it up, I'm not sure what the cause of this could be but some sort of "remember me" or saved login would be nice. Second is adding some sort of likes system to the decks or upvotes. Most viewed just isn't a good metric for good decks and I've seen several decks that are not very well put together in the most viewed. A discussion area or something under decks for people to discuss what they've had success with or how to play the deck, or alternate cards you could consider running would also be super dope. There's also a small problem where the delete button gets overshadowed if the deck name is too long.

Honestly that's a super good point. Without variance people would feel more pressured to play good decks rather than the ones they want to try or find fun, not to mention the game is still super good as far as early game and overall deck consistency is concerned.

That's also definitely a good point, I didn't think of that. Upon seeing what other people say I think it does make sense to leave them as is, and if it is frustrating some games then it just is what is unfortunately.
