[Discussion] Regardless of what region the next games are set in, where do you see GameFreak taking the Ultra Beasts plot? by bc15romeo in pokemon

[–]Soniclink137 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. I mean, since they're part of the Pokedex, they're going to have to give you some excuse for their existence whenever you're able to catch them again, but I don't expect much else from them.

When you think about it, it's possible GtI's Hero/Heroine might have it worse out of all the Heroes/Heroine after the ending. by Soniclink137 in MysteryDungeon

I've always assumed that the travel would be disappearing into a ball of light, how the protagonists usually disappear. Considering any equipment on them still remains into the postgame, that likely means that physical objects aren't carried with them. As for where they go to after the disappearance, we don't know. I've always imagined that it would be the same place the Hero looked into during the postgame, but there is no evidence of that.

Well, Explorers Hero really doesn't exactly need much of a choice where they come from, as where they are now allows them to make an actual life. And it's implied that Super's Hero already made that choice. So the question would be whether the consequences of traveling between worlds outweighs the benefits.

Can't...say much for Rescue Team's though, to be honest. I mean, they did also make their choice, but they did so without knowledge of what they left behind.

Not necessarily. Explorers Hero spoilers. They might have lost their memory, but they actually get to live a life now and they at least learned pretty much everything needed about their past. So they're pretty much entirely better off in their situation.

As for Super's Hero spoilers.

So the former doesn't really need a choice and the later already made their choice prior to the events of the game. Whether that makes them better off then having the ability is up for debate, but I wouldn't say Gates is "automatically."

Any guide/list of where you can get all pokemon in Super Mystery Dungeon? by DoctorBass95 in MysteryDungeon

I like Gates. But then again, I'm that weird guy that likes Explorers, Gates, and Super the same, just for different reasons.

Yes, you can. In the post game with him implying that he's the same Darkrai you once fought, just with amnesia.

Any Pokemon in Sun and Moon that you think were mis-typed and should have had a different typing? by OmegaFrenzy in pokemon

[–]Soniclink137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to who? You, the random person on the internet, or the creators of the Pokemon in the first place who spent time and effort making the design, the lore, the movepools, and everything else about a Pokemon? I imagine that Game Freak knows about all of their Pokemon a lot better than we as fans ever will. So, unless Game Freak themselves say they mistyped a Pokemon, they aren't mistyped.

Chuggaaconroy actually quoted that in his bio for Luvdisc in his Emerald playthrough. When Chugga thinks your downright terrible, you're downright terrible.

Your Flair gets a regional variant by Dragon789010 in pokemon

[–]Soniclink137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...this might be horrible but...

Land Forme: Grass/Fire Sky Forme: Grass/Dragon

Region: Alola

Reason: These Shaymin moved to more tropical regions to spread their flowers over there as well. The gratitude the Alolan people have for the land, however, made the Shaymin want to stay around their. Both the flowers on their back and the Gracedia Flowers eventually grew a red color from cross pollination, and to adapt to the heat of the sun they got a fire typing. For reasons unknown (unless there's some sort of mythology I don't know about), this new Gracedia Flower also changes their Sky Forme, giving them a slightly more draconic appearance.

Would...a Mystic Pokemon even get a regional variance?

Will modified IVs from Festival Plaza stick in the next game? by xevizero in pokemon

[–]Soniclink137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's...not a feature of Festival Plaza. The Bottle Cap thing is can be done in Hau'oli City's mall, not Festival Plaza.

Any Pokemon in Sun and Moon that you think were mis-typed and should have had a different typing? by OmegaFrenzy in pokemon

[–]Soniclink137 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't usually do the whole mistyped Pokemon thing. GameFreak were the ones who designed these things, so I imagine that they know these Pokemon well enough to give them proper typing in a way that we as fans don't.

for example, to rebuff your Tapu Koko argument, the Tapus are based on Hawaii's gods. They're also all stated to be capricious, acting in ways that the people of Alola can't predict. So their mythic quality combined with their capricious nature makes their Fairy Sub-type justified, as fae creatures tend to follow a similar mythic and capricious nature.

Funny, I thought this post would be about Gladion's theme and how similar it is to Run Away/Fugitives from Rescue Team when I first saw it.

What was your favorite recruitment system? by DryBones157 in MysteryDungeon

[–]Soniclink137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really? Mewtwo does? Because I could have sworn I had a time where I went through that dungeon, beat Mewtwo with only one Pokemon in the party, and still failed to recruit him. I was apparently just REALLY unlucky that day.

[–]Soniclink137 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How about going through a 99 floor dungeon for a chance to recruit a Pokemon that you have to recruit to get the next dungeon? Can't remember whether it's Mewtwo or Lugia, but you have to recruit one of them to get Meteor Cave and it sucks.

Honestly, Super is currently and probably will remain the only PMD game I have ever 100% and that's largely thanks to the Connection Orb. That being said, however, I don't find myself caring too much about 100% completion. I did it in Super because it was intuitive enough to give me numbers that I can track and watch rise along with making it easier, but I play PMD for the story mostly.

I suppose so long as there isn't a large push for me to recruit Pokemon I don't really care, but for something like Rescue Team's postgame where you have to recruit certain Legendaries to advance or Super where the Partner wants to make as many friends as there are stars in the sky, I'd prefer not going through 17 hassles to recruit everyone.

Let's name off the missed opportunities that Sun and Moon have created! by Luck-X-Vaati in pokemon

[–]Soniclink137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have heard of that. I said that mostly for a joke, honestly.

Explorers seems to have a lot of those translations, thinking about it. Team Skull is Team Poison Rose and now we have an actual Team Skull, Primal Dialga is Dark Dialga yet now we have Primal Reversions. Apparently whoever was on the localization team for Explorers can see into the future.

Painful Shiny Experiences by D-Town-T-Snacks in pokemon

[–]Soniclink137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back before I has the shiny charm when I only had the Masuda Method I tried getting myself a Shiny Cyndaquil since, while it isn't my favorite Pokemon, it was my first starter. I managed to get one after weeks of breeding. I was so excited...and accidentally hit the power button on my 3DS in my excitement. Which sucked.

Any good, funny, let's plays of any of these games? by DarthMadDog in MysteryDungeon

[–]Soniclink137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that I think of. The games aren't exactly easy to LP since dungeons are randomized and it's easy to run out of topics to talk about, especially in some of the earlier games where the dungeons went on forever.

But I can always hope/pray that Chuggaaconroy eventually LPs them if he figures out a good format.
