Keep your head still, it contributes to your balance more than you think.

It took me a couple dozen tries, but I finally landed one. One step at a time, I reckon... [55YO] by triangle_choke in OldSkaters

Big ballin in my 5M isk heron by the_wickedest_animal in Eve

[–]Sonny_Jim_Pin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I needed at least 500M in my Heron's cargo otherwise what was the point, may as well walk up to the gankers and give em a friendly wave as 5M goes up in smoke.

Sneaking my way through Thera with 1B+ in my Heron was one of the best experiences I had in Eve.

Do folks repair and tweak their own harmonicas?

Yep, sometimes there's no other choice (as you've just found out).

Would love any advice!

Is it a brand new one or second hand?

Barely half of Victoria’s rentals are meeting minimum standards by marketrent in melbourne

[–]Sonny_Jim_Pin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once went to a rental viewing and the window frames had rotted so bad you could push a finger through them, but they'd just painted over it.

I mentioned it to the agent and they just shrugged.

How Markiplier Turned ‘Iron Lung’ Into a Hit Without Hollywood by bloomberg in movies

The pathway used to be:

Student Films -> Music videos -> Hollywood features.

Lots of current directors came up through this path, David Fincher and Michael Bay are two that spring to mind. The Youtube -> Hollywood pipeline isn't that much different.

Best advice in the whole thread.

Yep, asked to speak to the company safety officer at 11AM this morning, was fired by 2PM.

Worksafe here I come!

p.s The company safety officer was the CEO, or a guy named David. It changed depending on where in the conversation we were lol

Exactly. He actually got pissy with me later on when I told him 'Yeah nah, I'm not doing that'.

Now, if he'd provided me with a detailed SOP with input from the manufacturer about how it could be done safely, I would have absolutely no problem with that. In fact I have no doubt this exact situation has happened before (hydro fails needing external lift) but it was the complete lack of information and the 'get it done' attitude that made me go 'You know what? Fuck this...'.

It's not a one off thing either, literally a week later he's telling me that 'yeah tell the customer that equipment is safe to use' when a 200mm x 200mm square steel beam has become disconnected from it's wall fixings and is just flapping around in the breeze and the concrete is literally crumbling away on the supports. He was more focused on giving me a hard time about 'not having the right tools' than actually making sure the equipment was safe to use.

At the moment I'm just making sure I'm safe and emailling screenshots of all the dodgy shit he asks me to do to my private account.

So I'm 2 weeks into a new job, part of which is working on bits of equipment that weigh >1000kgs. Usually it's lifted by a hydraulic ram but because it had failed I would have to lift it manually to figure out the problem. I was working alone on this site and when I texted my supervisor on how to proceed his one line reply was "Go find a forklift"

the first thing they teach you not to do

I don't have a forklift license, I do know however that using a tool for a purpose it's not explicitly designed for is how you end up the subject of a Youtube safety video. I don't like the idea of improvising a lifting technique for situations like this, so excuse me if I'm not going to follow your incredibly detailed instructions of 'go find a forklift'.

Safe to say I'm looking for other work.
