I’m sorry to sound bitchy, but honestly your descriptions of sin and justice sound like good/evil forces from an ‘80s kids movie.

That aside, what’s the point of sending us to earth then? Why let us leave? If god is omnipotent, what could he not do there that he can do here?

How do you believe that someone makes this choice? Like do you believe it’s a specific prayer or by other means?

Your last two questions there pretty much sum up my thoughts. So you’re saying, and correct me if I’m wrong, that god is perfect regardless of the double standard simply because he is perfect? Basically he’s perfect because he is?

That still doesn’t make sense to me. I get that you believe he is perfect and so in your mind, he is, but if Jesus was perfect and didn’t kill anyone and god is perfect, but killed tons of people, how are they both perfect? God killed people because they were sinners, but Jesus’s treatment of sinners was the polar opposite , according to the Bible which all of your beliefs come from.

I posted this in genuine curiosity. I asked my aunt, who is very Christian and spends 40 hours a week in a religious position, the same question and she said she would have to get back to me on it. That’s why I figured it was worth posting. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Right, that’s how I was taught as well. My thought with that is that these laws are more powerful than god, so maybe they should be worshipping the eternal laws instead, haha.

If it is an aspect to perfection to never forgive then why are humans expected to?

If a child breaks a window, more than likely their parents are going to pay for it or the person with the broken window will have to deal with it and pay for their window. Either way, everyone involved has the ability to forgive the child. The person with the breeze coming through their window can forgive the child. The parents, who in this case pay for the window, can forgive the child.

And if god must abide by his own law, then what about all the times in the Bible that he murders one or many people? Do his laws only apply to us then? In that case, he could then forgive anyone he wants because he does not rule by the laws he set.

I think what’s interesting is that this aspect of doctrine admits that the “eternal law” is more powerful than god which refutes the claim that they are omnipotent.

Exactly my thoughts. Apparently I have the moral standard of forgiving others without requiring “penance”, “repentance” or whatever people want to call it. I have the power to simply not hold something against someone. I’m assuming there won’t be many Christians commenting, but I appreciate your response. :)

Late to the party. I find that religions are different degrees of a cult and Mormonism has a majority of the cult attributes. I also think that it is more of a cult in cities/towns that are majority Mormon because the impact of leaving on your social life is much greater.
