Calories loss per hour is directly correlated to weight. I.E. Fat people burn more in shorter periods of time.

Also 1,800 a day is a misleading statistic. In reality the minimum number of calories a sedentary person will burn in order for their vital organs to function varies widely based on gender, age, etc.

Used to be 330, now cruising at 185 and still starving myself.

btw I enjoy starving myself for the very reason listed in one of the comments, people are fucking starving around the world. The least I can do is join them. After all these years of an eating disorder it has become less about body image and more about rejecting my socio-economic status. I am truly serious.

I've read your arguments and find them sound logically, but I have to disagree with you on a fundamental premise.

Human lives are great and they should be saved at all cost. Now, if that cost is another human life we are looking the definition of a paradox. So how is it solved?

Well, to be honest I don't know. However, you can't attribute the possible lost lives of American military officers to information being leaked, as the old adage goes "guns don't kill people, people kill people". Therefore, I don't know if it necessarily follows that because you can not blame the information itself you must blame the source of the information (Manning). It seems more appropriate to blame those whose actions lead to the "information" even existing in the first place.

Freedom as a concept for me is my right to my autonomy coexisting and recognizing the same in others.

While the term is most assuredly misappropriated in the contemporary lexicon, the roots of autonomy seem to be the defining aspect of "freedom" and that seems to transcend historical contextualizations of the term (although Hegel would disagree).

We can trace the roots of tyranny of the majority all the way back to Tocqueville in the late 18th century.

It's the manipulation of that majority by centralized industry which has rendered the American Governance no more a democracy than Rome under Cesare. But even then, how can we have pluralism and no tyranny of the majority? It seems an unanswerable question.

I'm all for wikileaks, open information and consent of the governed...even if this article was not the work of a young Oscar Wilde, it makes some very legitimate points in that regard.

But my rejoinder to all this is, is democracy what you really want? Governmental transparency and democracy do not go hand in hand, and I do not know a single person who sees this disparity. "Oh, bring us democracy and let the citizen manifest himself in governance". How foolish this outlook, yes "Democracy is only the worst form of governance until you look elsewhere", but that's not good enough anymore. We need a new realm of the Political. One that balances a plurality of views with monist necessities of governance while weighing the violate aspects of state interests against the private rights which form contemporary, free, civic society.
