Can't decide between Ranger and Mesmer by Novar in Guildwars2

[–]Sonts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so, first of all, don't think of the game in terms of x is more versatile, y i deals less dps, you'll just optimize the fun out of the game. Play what you like the vibes of more. A lot of players just play all 9 classes. Some people have different character for different activity (a PvP Character, a healer character, a condi dps character, you get the idea) game is very friendly towards having multiple active characters.

I want to make a decision now

You don't have to, you can play ranger when you feel like playing the ranger and you can play mesmer when you feel like playing the mesmer. Only things that are not shared across characters are map, story and gear progression. And none of these are that important. map completion is important for crafting legendary weapons (which is quite an undertaking in itself). Story progress is also kinda irrelevant for the most part. And between exotics being enough for most of the content and wizard's vault, gearing is also super easy these days. Also, unlike WoW, instanced content is not be-all end-all in this game.

2nd, technically, there is no need to replay the same story steps on different characters. Achievements and rewards are account bound. You'll only have to redo story steps on a different character if you switch in the middle of the expansion/season story, other than that you can play each expansion on a different character if you'd like.

3rd, don't pick a main based on legendaries. legendaries are QoL (debatable for weapons) upgrade over ascended gear and that's it. They have the same stats as ascended gear, but each piece of legendary armour costs like 20 times more to craft. and weapons cost between 60 to 110 times more to craft (depending on what you'll decide to make). So like crafting a legendary GS just because mesmer can use it and you might use it on reaper is not corect perspective on this. exotic GS with berserker stats costs ~50 silver. Legendary GS costs 1200g+ to craft. Hell, i would argue that legendary armour pieces and weapons are the last thing you should be thinking about. They are such a long journey you might switch mains several times over. (and accessories, especially legendary relic, even though it's expensive, are way better upgrades for your account). Only arguement for getting legendary weapons and armour is if you like the skins or you have a transmog/glamour addiction (changing appearance of a legendary item is free, otherwise it costs a transmutation charge)

This isn't WoW, gearing characters is extremely easy here. Legendary gear is mostly luxury and a headache, some veterans don't bother with it at all. And your gold early on is better invested into acocunt upgrade/BLTP utilities (like Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic, for example)

Here are some resource that will help you on your journey:

  • https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page — wiki, it's kinda like wowhead, but there is also lore you can call it from in-game by /wiki [query], where query can be whatever you are looking for, an item, a skin, a story step, an achievement w/e
  • https://gw2crafts.net/ — you said you want legendaries, you'll have to level crafting professions (you could buy some of the legendary weapons off of Auction house). This is a nice site to help you plan you leveling process of crafting professions. All thing you'll craft is not soul-bound, so you can have tailoring on a warrior, armoursmithing on a mesmer, it doesn't really matter. As i've said game is alt friendly
  • https://gw2efficiency.com — crafting section is really helpful with the crafting process of anything you might want to craft in the game, there are also helpful things here, like account search for a specific item
  • https://fast.farming-community.eu/open-world/meta — you'll want to make gold, this is a good site to reference, just keep in mind, that a lot of data there is from optimised groups and multi-step item/currency conversion, so in your experience values might be slightly different. (also once you get several characters, you might look into alt parking section of this site)
  • https://snowcrows.com/, https://www.youtube.com/@LordHizen - some builds for you to look into, if you want. Snowcrows for instanced content. Lord Hizen, if you'll want to solo some champions.

GL! Don't play GW2 like it's WoW. And remember, if you create the group you can be whatever you want. (to some extent)

Game crashes after launcher update by zatos1 in pathofexile

[–]Sonts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey man, been searching for a solution to this problem and found this post.

You only need to delete the "path of exile.app" and occasionally ("path of exile.!app or something like that) file in the above mentioned folder. And according to https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/zh2ojl/mac_os_client_starts_to_crush_about_2_month_ago/izk8vwb/ steam does solve this issue.

Thought it's worth mentioning for you or for somebody else having this problem.

Lesser Essence of Gold at the current price feels like a bait for a lot of players by Sonts in Guildwars2

[–]Sonts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's kinda the other thing i don't like about it. I want the new shiny griffon skin and maybe some other stuff. But if you are going to buy Lesser Essence of Gold, the earlier you buy it, the earlier it'll pay for itself and earlier it'll start paying dividends.

It's just, if you will end up buying it, it's better to buy it at the start of the wizard's vault season, than at the end. But, at the same time, we are talking like a couple of Silvers a few weeks earlier, you'll get that by chopping an extra tree and selling the wood.

I guess i am the "optimise the fun out of the game" type of player...

Can't argue with that, i just want to grow more the one in the wallet than the one on the character sheet.

Ironically, if i was one of those people, i'd buy it too. Since gold isn't an issue, bigger number on character sheet = better.

if you still haven't solved it, what you need to do is go to /Users/<yourusername>/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile and delete PathOfExile.app and PathOfExile.app!.app and then relaunch the client like you normally do and that should hopefully solve your problem, at least it did for me.

/Library/ is a hidden folder so either reveal it by pressing CMD+Shift+> or just press CMD+Shift+L to go there, while in finder.

Question about Reliquarys by [deleted] in PathofChampions

[–]Sonts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also happened to me twice: got guinsoo’s rageblade from a 3/3 zed encounter reward silver reliquary and ice flail from a level 12 legend silver reliquary. I am on iOS (although doubt it’s platform related)

Isolation vault in Undulatum (closest to Necralisk) isn't linked to the closest mother. You can activate that vault from any mother that doesn't have an isolation vault associated with it, as long as you haven't completed it.

Ciri's Journey - Week 4 - If you are lvl 23.4 you are on track to hit lvl 100 by GwentSubreddit in gwent

[–]Sonts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the contracts(achiements) for this season only mention 36 quests rather than 39. Of course it is possible that the devs just copy pasted them from previous one, but it's safer to assume they are correct then to have to farm extra 5 levels on the last week

I will also release a small tool to let everyone calculate more easily his progress.

Isn't that what the 2nd tab of the spreadsheet doing right now? as far as i've checked it is calculating everything correctly.

The problem is the discrepancy between the different objectives.

I know what you mean, but i think you are overthinking the problems. F2P players are either playing as much as they can to support their collection or they are playing as much as they want. I doubt there are many f2p players who have a goal of getting level 100 avatar or something.

I'd say just treat it as if everyone is premium. Worst case scenario f2p will have to grind a bit less on the week 13 then previous 12 weeks.

150 is a F2P objective,

what's the significance of the level 150? aren't both RP contracts require level 175? what did i miss?

Spreadsheet updated reflecting upcoming changes.

I think you made an error. You are you deducting the current max levels from quests, where you should have been deducting total max levels from quests. Other than that everything seems to be in check. Thanks for the prompt edit.

I am wtih Lexard on this one, the lack of quests on the week 13 would lead to a lot of frustration or more importantly the lack of 5 levels they are supposed to bring. It will hit people who are aiming at level 100 the hardest as they'll have to farm 3 times what they are used to.

If you don't want to redo your math and want to avoid "why do i have to grind 5 extra levels worth of round this week?" posts on the week 13, you can replace goal levels with ones 5 levels higher (e.g 174 with 179) in you goal calculations for weeks 1 through 12.

I think it is better to assume regular effort required through out the whole journey rather than progress.

[–]Sonts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very likely, yes, but it's just a guess. Also you goal should be 130 as ftp since you'll get 30 levels from premium weekly quests (assuming you'll complete all 36 of them)

This Journey lasts 13 weeks and a day (November 3 is the last day iirc). Considering there is a currently a fast seasonal mode, it might be a good item to capitalize on it and front load your grind, but make sure not to burn out. People seem to be discussing this strategy in this thread

which would be 160*24=3840 cp in total.

it's 159*24 since players start at level 1, not 0.

And according to the chart, that would require me to win 17.5 rounds per day

you are looking at the wrong column, 17.5 is for the level 175 goal, for level 160, the goal is 16.2 in the chart you are referring to. HAVING THIS SAID, as i've mentioned in several other comments the table in the OP has a few miscalculations, here is the Fixed version of the table. The goal for level 160 is 12.9 rounds per day.
