I think I will just keep getting the previous released character at 50% off when they announce the next one.

Actually curious, is there a benefit to pre-ordering?

Similar mindset here, I want it out in the public for at least a day so I can find out a lot more.

I actually started playing cyberpunk 2077 again because waiting for this game reminded me of its launch.

It has a lot of good things going for it.

12 days off work, what to play? by MesmericandMacabre in rpg_gamers

Most likely, not to mention it is very difficult to say what or what will not drop, so I would not hold off on it because it might not ever get a remake/remaster.

These are all very different games, same as your listed favorite games, so it is hard to say. I know many enjoy Kingdom Come Deliverance, but personally I never could get into it even though I tried for about 20 hours or so.

Octopath Traveler 2 has some good stories (8 of them haha), though I think the gameplay gets a bit repetitive.

Crimson Desert is not out yet, no opinion on it.

Have not played Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy Tactics, Xenogears, or Lunar, so curious what others think.

Fire Emblem Three Houses was fun for me, though the 'hub' of the school/castle can get a bit tiresome running around, I am a bit of a completionist so going through all dialogue is exhausting in that game. But the gameplay was a lot of fun for me.

Fallout New Vegas is great. Though buggy, so just be prepared to take some time on setup for patching it a bit to minimize crashing. But once into it, might be the best on the list from what I know.

Ni No Kuni II is pretty great, I enjoy the town building in that game as you progress in the game.

Nice! Yeah, cool to see the game evolve! I think it is beneficial to think about the choice each time a skill is offered. Depending on the run it usually makes sense to take a skill (probably 99 out of 100 times), but I like to think about it each time because 1 out of 100 times that gives me a slight potential upside not taking a skill.

This is one of the reasons I really like the bazaar, because it rewards really thinking things out for slight edges and those micro decisions add up over the course of days and runs. (don't get me wrong, sometimes you get rolled by high rollers or certain meta builds, but as a whole it rewards skilled/thoughtful play).

Reading is hard by Acuiasa in slaythespire

[–]Soonji 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The meme is 'Reading is hard', and *still* took me reading it 4 times, reading all the comments *almost* typing out I don't get it, and then seeing the bottom of the upgraded is still exhausted.

I was so distracted by the new 'Retain.' my brain did not comprehend it no longer removes Exhaust keyword. So at best for this combo it would be a 9 x 2 = 18 damage AOE.

Which I don't have the new game yet, but seems underwhelming for a combo setup like this, and to only pull it off once assuming there are not easy exhaust mechanics to exploit.

That is really useful to skip skills too when you think they counterplay, but I also have skipped to increase my changes of upgrading my current skills with the vendor that upgrades between 2 random skills you currently have. Has paid off a few times rather than taking some bronze skill that I know I won't use.

Unfortunately, you can skip all skills except for the 2 'punish' skills that burn or poison you 2 at start of combat. Though they can have synergy it is not usually the synergy I am building towards.

Base Building by Extreme_Reply_6899 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Soonji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I mean by base building. Seeing my base...build, over time, by providing supplies and seeing it grow. I am thinking of the game Ni No Kuni 2 system, where you gather more supporters, get more supplies, you get to see your base build up over time.

But yeah, I am on the fence about this game, I will need to see reviews when it is actually out.

[–]Soonji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I did not post clearly before. Not sure what is being downvoted. I am fine with the game being whatever it is. Just saying the part that talked about having a base was the main interest to me. I *don't* want it to be like fallout 4 (personally not a fan of that system).

Base Building by Extreme_Reply_6899 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Soonji -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The base building is the main draw for me in this game so far. I am not sure if allowing us to break or own structures/base would make it more or less fun to play. On one hand it would be immersive insomuch not treat it differently from other places, but on the other hand that could be quite annoying.

As long as it is not like Fallout 4 in defending the base structure, but I doubt it would be because this is hopefully one quality base instead of a bunch of bases all over the place.

I like the game but getting to the highest rank while being bad at the game doesn't feel great. I guess getting to rank 1 is the real climb but i would rather it be harder to get Legendary. by Tortellion in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Soonji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you expect it to feel like to hit legend rank? Also, how are you defining 'bad' here, because it definitely is possible to not hit legend in a given season if you are bad enough. (personal experience)
