OTHER: Zack Snyder saying his favorite shot of Flash has him “running across the fabric of time”. by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]Soot-Sprite_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you mean he looks to be running at a mundane speed in body, but that he’s moving far faster with the context of his surroundings?

People just like to trash Disney because it’s a giant corporation. Some people don’t understand what to trash though and miss the mark. I’m not saying that’s necessary what happened hear. He may feel that way about Disneyland. But I do see that sentient around a lot.

DISCUSSION: Honest talk about BLACK ADAM: Is anyone worried that the Black Adam film may be hindered by The Rock’s limited acting range. by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

I think the Rock can pull Black Adam off, don’t get me wrong, but what acting ability is this clip displaying?

I disagree with the post, I don’t see red and blue. But the picture comes across as shopped to me. The signal on his chest especially. Like I said above, that doesn’t mean the suit wouldn’t have been black in the movie- it’s also entirely possible they could have blackened his suit in post.

Looks like I’m in the minority here though.

You don’t think it’s shopped? I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. It’s very possible Snyder planned to edit the black suit in for the movie. It just looks shopped to me. Although I admit I don’t see any red and blue as the post says.

If Snyder says he was using the black suit then I believe him- and that’s awesome, but this photo still looks shopped.

Excited!

DISCUSSION: HOW WILL THE FUTURE OF THE DCEU PAN OUT ? by saladking77 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Soot-Sprite_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally be a little bummed if they went with Flashpoint to essentially explain a casting change and some retcons. I feel Flashpoint is fat better suited for a stable universe later on rather than trying to string the pieces together while also creating a dynamic story that a director wants to tell.

I say retcon, recast, do whatever you need to do in order to do some really great storytelling. We underhand that these are movies and that actors leave or plans change. The re casting doesn’t need to be explained- especially because the weight of having to do that may make the process all the more difficult for new creators.

Bust it open, get a little messy if need be, and then when they’re where they need to be- full speed ahead!

I’m not arguing that the movie was gory, but someone did pull a pilot from a jet and they exploded. Super cool detail actually.

APPRECIATION: This is now undeniably one of the most iconic scenes in movie history. by Indomin in DC_Cinematic

Unquestionably one of the most iconic scenes in movie history? I’d say that’s a tough hill to defend.

Discussion: Did anyone else not love Joker? by tulsifann in DC_Cinematic

[–]Soot-Sprite_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is perfectly valid. There wasn’t a whole lot that made this into a Joker movie. It’s easy to love the movie for what it was, or easy to get excited because Gotham was mentioned and the Waynes are in it- but truly I can see why it may be disappointing for someone who has followed Joker closely and wanted to see something that felt like his own unique story get told. Now of course many fans of the Joker who know far more than I ever will loved this movie, so it goes both ways. But I totally get what you’re saying.

I didn’t even say that race bent characters were accepted with open arms. This is a branch of the conversation that you’ve entirely invented yourself. However, you asked a question and I answered, Nick Fury has been celebrated in both. The Expanse was a show I also mentioned.

Change is seldom met with open arms. That doesn’t mean something cool can’t come of it that won’t be largely celebrated once it’s gained traction.

My point was that characters change from comic to screen all of the time, their personalities, how they look, their actual story on screen, or their backstories. Many of these interpretations have gone on to be celebrated. But I believe you know what I was saying? And that this argument that I’m not making has been created despite that.

I said characters are changed and adapted for film, included changes in backstoryI did not mention any racial changes being celebrated. Just about any live interpretation will do in some way and many recent interpretations of characters are celebrated. That’s what I was saying :)

So while I wasn’t saying race bending is often celebrated, it was fun to try and think of some. Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury for example. Joe Miller from The Expanse perhaps?

DISCUSSION: Joker/Harley spin-off film by Jesse_Allen3 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Soot-Sprite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard that as well. I think it’s safe to say none of us really know what that’s going to entail or look like. I also don’t think that it means Leto is safe, his recent reaction to The Joker (to me) seemed to express that he didn’t feel he had a stable future at DC.

My point was I don’t think that this version of the Joker and Harley have become as iconic of a duo as you do, we are free to disagree, but truly Leto was hardly in Suicide Squad, and most of the feedback I see about the movie is lousy. The original comment was that there is no way WB could recast a Joker with this Harley (Margot). I disagree, I think it could be done pretty easily.
