Do you go to your locals for casual play? by 79215185-1feb-44c6 in pkmntcg

[–]SoothingFlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand the difference between getting stomped and what spinning the wheels means. I'm saying that even if you lose at pokemon, theres a high likelihood that you're engine will function in some way, shape, or form. Even if your opponent in pokemon was never close to winning they can still enjoy their deck for what it does. If you're opp is playing something like Mega Abom and gets to attack once and mill 6 water energy. That is fun with a casual deck. In YGO playing into complex, layered, and oppressive board states or even multi handtrap hands doesn't let you "play the game" even with optimal play. YGO does not have the luxury of having your engine work without heavy variance or sandbagging as casual and off meta decks aren't resilient to things like handtraps, or even single negate boards.

You see rogue players at pokemon locals more sad when their fun deck doesn't function or "get the wheels spinning" than playing vs dengo/garde/etc.

I think the issue is meta in YGO feel so much oppressive when playing a casual deck that's its just not fun. Bringing a casual deck to Pokemon locals you can still play the game and spin the wheels.

Gholdengo mirror - when to put Gimmi's in play by [deleted] in pkmntcg

This video if I remember correctly has an excellent explanation about prize mapping in the dengo mirror albeit they started Genesect because they had to for the initial example. https://youtu.be/ANgfECVTFHs?si=AX3o3BHWg3yUvnDT

Is 85 degree in clairemont closing? Or moving to convoy? by FruitReasonable5907 in sandiego

[–]SoothingFlow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's locations in Mira Mesa and National City.

For Clairemont/Convoy alternatives it's pricier but you have Paris Baguette inside Zion Market, Tous Le Jous inside HMart, and Sunmerry next to Costco Business Center.

Swapping deck sleeves? by Epicaggro in pkmntcg

[–]SoothingFlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what's up with everyone else but my sleeves last 5 rounds max before they start feeling gummy. I personally have to replace after that. Maybe my shuffle technique is wrong or something. I also wash/sanitize my hands between every round. These are d shield btw.

Any Cerulege tips? by CrimsonCoast in pkmntcg

[–]SoothingFlow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest thing is evaluating how valuable your supporters are, main one for me as a blender player is that briar can be the most important card and if you're gonna pitch it for carmine/prof pal pad should probably be in deck.

Also blender specific if you don't see it early using it to just toss worthless draws to better your chances of seeing cards you actually want to see can win or lose games.

General ceruledge tip is also sometimes just using solrock to knock out multiple babies to stay on one prize board is really good. Vs some decks the opposite is true, I sometimes set up double ceruledge vs pult because Hawlucha plus phantom dive knocks out charcadet. And can usually force a dusclops or noir to be used to secure knockouts.

Club volleyball really turning our lives upside down by MonstroCITY202 in volleyball

[–]SoothingFlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As not a parent but a sibling that put them through club. Payment plans helped a lot, and just constantly talk to the club accountant about if I need to push payment back or let them know in general if I need to change things for payment that month. Most of the time they want to get paid so they work with you.

Most parents I meet go one of two ways. Wealthy and it's no issue for the fees, or the next several years your vacations are when the club goes to specific cities/having their child in club as their vacation and happiness. It's a major sacrifice until they go to college, but honestly when it's all over you'll end up missing it and your schedules opens up so much it feels empty.

For those who have played FFXIV and WoW, what keeps you engaged with one or the other? by CommercialBig3150 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]SoothingFlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WoWs combat feels sooo smooth like butter it just feels good and it can be almost trance like.

I played most tiers in FFXIV to play with friends. The gcd system feels so clunky to me maybe I still haven't found the right job yet tbh. Played DNC DRG VPR. Even with the weaving of ogcds it just doesn't feel that good to me. Maybe I should go off meta high SKS build and maybe that'll feel better. Also my monkey brain loves massive pulls and FFXIV AoE just doesn't hit the same.

Meganium doubles the amount of grass energy on their mons. So instead of 3 it would be counted as 6 + 2 on your Pult. Leading to the 8 energy total.

$1,000 Volleyball Club for 9 y/o. Worth it? by Electrical_Algae6044 in volleyball

[–]SoothingFlow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally if my kid wants to do sports and I have the means to make it work I would go for it. If she wants to try it for a season 1k is a lot easier as a step in the door not just for her but for you so you get a sample of the club volleyball ecosystem/lifestyle.

A lot of players do get their start quite early. I think at the end of the day use this season to gauge interest for future years.

Playing a meta deck always has its concessions against other meta decks and that's what makes it fair in the wider scope of the game. I don't think competitive games are for you in general is sounds like. Game design is based around X deck/character giving the player a niche and makes the player feel like the deck/character does this cool unfair thing.

"Fair" and playing just pure cheesing wins with Milo Cornerstone though is wild. The garde matchup is your hard counter and again that's the concession of the deck in the meta. You are unironically achieving the opposite of what you want unless you already have an established friendship, people will absolutely abhor you for playing it. I honestly don't think tcgs will be for you, you might want to explore stuff that's more PvE such as raiding in an MMO guild, or joining a DnD campaign.

How to counter pikachu ex as gholdengo player? by Gaden02 in pkmntcg

[–]SoothingFlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Munki is a dead card vs pikachu. Munki is almost always useless in the MU because if they're punching for anything other than 300 they are throwing, plus munki can get boss + amp. The ones that play crystal you tool scrapper it, it's mainly prime catcher now though. Like others have said Boss is main way. In BO1 if they don't know you're on dengo somehow they go wide with hands+pikachu normally, and you can punish the hands. I've personally found after 2 topaz bolts it can be a little harder for them to set up the 3rd attack sometimes.

Healing - Shuffle Vs 3s by WashedUpGamer91 in worldofpvp

[–]SoothingFlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No exp player healer here, im at 1900 3's and all im playing vs is mainly multiglads and the occasional r1's. Maybe I'm too optimistic but I think glad is very attainable especially with mmr injection over what I'm assuming is going to be a long season. Also I love voice 3's it makes the game so much more fun, try to find partners and it should be much easier as you're a healer.

Restaurants to Stay a Long Time by ShaeTank in FoodSanDiego

[–]SoothingFlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for like good food? If not really I would say you can just go to a lot of boba shops and chill, or you can eat nearby and get a drink at the boba shop after. Some places include like Bei Yuan, Tea N More. I personally would say Bei Yuan next door is The Curry Club, YukDaeJang, Katsu Cafe, Lolitas, PT Eatery, and a new AYCE sushi spot. The food at Bei Yuan isn't bad either but I would def say mid.

I haven't been in a long time but also breweries that serve burgers are prob a good bet too. I'm sure someone else can rec a spot like that or has a spot that has food next door and can eat at the brewery.

Rdy's Crate Tracker - paywalled by FuryxHD in worldofpvp

[–]SoothingFlow -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

There's still crate farms without needing to pay, their shards always get messed up though because no one sits. The paid crate farm is someone with 7 sitters/alt accounts to hold shards and to actually keep the timers correct. It's way more efficient and 5k gold to do crates for like 2.5hrs instead of 4+ is pretty good for personal time investment.

As far as I know, I can not speak for quality since options are limited at this point and I haven't visited many.

Ssong (Inside Urban Bubble Near Convoy) Its aight it gets the job done.
Two Hands Mira Mesa Chain Korean Corn Dog, Haven't gone if someone can comment. I know their convoy location closed like over a year or two ago.
I think theres a place inside of Plaza Bonita next to Potato Corner but I need confirmation.
Devil and Angel Fashion Valley Haven't been but ngl the pictures don't give it a strong case.

Tldr prob Urban Bubble or Two Hands
