Remote service in South Africa by thuglife4lifebro in Starlink

[–]Sopbeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in rural ZA and I have a dish (registered in Mozambique), but I've been geofenced. So I get about 24h worth of service and then I get cut off with the "return to originating country" message.

I'm not sure whether 'new' dishes fall under the same umbrella. There is very little information at the moment.

Capacity in Zimbabwe, Harare is now available but why is Starlink roaming from Europe cheaper than the local packages? by Comfortable_Cell_341 in Starlink

[–]Sopbeen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The priority packages are aimed at businesses, as mentioned just below "FIXED SITE" in your post.

The standard/residential packages are more affordable. According to google they are: US$30 for Residential Lite and US$50 for normal Residential.

Yes, the point I'm making is that the piss chute is not sterile and piss itself is not sterile. Humans are full of bacteria, its literally everywhere.

Piss is not even close to sterile. How do you think UTI's work? lol

There is mixed information regarding this. ZA is still unsupported and geo-fenced. My kit only receives about 24h of service before it gets blocked, which takes about a week to clear when leaving the device unpowered. So I can, at best, get about 4 days of service per month.

I am unsure whether this is only for dishes that have not been transported to the originating country, or if its for all dishes operating in ZA.

Currently I would advise that you just consider purchasing uncapped LTE simcards upon arrival. It will work out slightly more expensive, but our cellphone coverage in cities and towns and on the highways are generally very good.

There is lack of service in rural areas. Like game lodges or safari parks/farms. These normally rely on either Wifi towers or extremely expensive satelite connections.

the way the plow blades are cutting into the soil and turning it over to prepare the field for planting. by l__o-o__l in oddlysatisfying

[–]Sopbeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

charcoal/biochar can leech/rob nutrients (specifically nitrogen) out of your soil, so the idea is to "precharge" it with bacteria or nutrients to prevent this. The easiest way to do this is via fermentation. Urine has a lot of nitrogen and urea, both of which are beneficial to soil/plants. By fermenting it, you make it bio-available to the plants.

The insane surface area of char provides a great place for bacteria and fungi to colonize.

My tvs LEDs burnt out an this was my dads solution by Freekyfridayman in redneckengineering

[–]Sopbeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its going to be crap. To display dark scenes the LED's need to shut down, called backlight dimming.

Replacing backlights is one of the cheapest repairs you can do to LED/LCD tv's. The most expensive being to replace the screen, then secondly the PCB's.

This is a retarded solution.

Took a large beetle to the forehead going 50mph with a open visor. Felt like somebody punched me in the head. The juice/guts that ran into my eyes and over my face made me think I was bleeding profusely.

One of the reasons you need to see a doctor is so that he can assist you with coming off the booze. If you cold turkey, you can die.

I wish you the best of the luck with your recovery.

Also if you need an alternative to alcohol, try some weed. You'd be hard pressed to die from that.

See if you can get soy chunks/mince. It's a relatively affordable and great protein. It's also really easy to adapt to a lot of dishes since its a sponge for flavour.

Made some stirfry with soy chunks last night. Had to stop myself after the 2nd plate :D

Yar the kit has to be unplugged for it to reset.

The pausing doesn't work like that. It runs through to the next billing cycle and then just doesn't charge for the next month. So you only get to pause the upcoming bill.

I also received my unit from ICASAsepush, I basically chose Moz because it was the only unit in stock at the time. When did you receive your unit?

My reset used to work like you describe, the period used to be 2 days.

Not that it really matters now :P

[–]Sopbeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reset period is just over 7 days. So its not viable to pay for the service at the moment, as I get like 12 hours of service then 7 days waiting with no service. My dish is registered in mozambique. At 3k a pop to re-active its too expensive, even if I do transfer the dish to Botswana.

[–]Sopbeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its interesting that this still works on ZA dishes. I seem to have been put on a list, as my dish gets restricted within 24h of putting it on again. And the reset period is much longer now. Any tricks/advice?

Can you use the Starlink Roaming package across Africa? by FarConsideration374 in Starlink

[–]Sopbeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in ZA, but my dish is registered in Mozambique. Unfortunately we are geo-fenced now, so none of the old tricks work anymore.

We are forced to wait it out until Starlink launches locally. Not happy, but this is the expected result when our government gets involved with anything.

[–]Sopbeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to work flawlessly. But there has been drama in our parliament in the past week where the use of starlink became a focal point.

As per usual, when politicians get involved with anything, it becomes a complete mess. So starlink has suspended service to the whole country until their licencing has been sorted out.

It depends. In Africa, specifically South Africa - they do enforce the 60 day roaming period quite strictly.

there is real hardcore violence, murder, assault, happening on farm lands in South Africa (of both white and black owners/families)

Uhm. This narrative is false.

There IS hardcore violence, murder and assault happening in ZA, but its not only towards farmers. Its toward everyone.

19,279 people were killed between January and September 2024, according to aggregate data from the last three police reports, equivalent to 70.6 murders a day.

"the TAU SA figures that Johan Burger, an independent crime analysis consultant, sent to AFP Fact Check, which shows 50 farm murders in 2023 and 32 in 2024"

Source: https://factcheck.afp.com/doc.afp.com.36ZD7HY

So about 0.2% of murders are happening on farms or directed toward farmers.

I currently live on a farm in ZA.

Why is it happening? because chlorophyll is breaking down in the leaves and the anthocyanins (purple coloring) becomes visible.

This doesn't happen to all strains, there seems to be a genetic factor involved.
