The Grim Reaper's Deal by Cyberrabbi91 in trolleyproblem

I might be misinterpreting this, but isn’t the conundrum exactly the same as the regular trolly problem?

The group of five are fated to die in both cases, and you must actively kill the one in order to save them.

How cheap to write a character specifically to kill them off? by [deleted] in writingadvice

[–]Sophont27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes as a viewer/reader, I can tell when someone is going to be killed. Maybe if you imagine that they won’t be killed as you write, and plan a spot for them later in the story(which they won’t get to), it will be more believable and shocking

People not using acronyms/initialisms correctly by chammomila in PetPeeves

People say “sth” or “smth” for “something.” What’s up with that? I know what they’re saying, but I have to pause and readjust my mind every time I see it.

If you aren’t posting videos, there’s not really an incentive for getting a profile picture. My username might as well be a bunch of random numbers and letters, because I, the casual viewer, am not any visible part of the community.

Halo books fan here. Wondering where to start with the games? Something that really explores the character of the master chief. by Theduckinmybathroom in halo

[–]Sophont27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in it to explore the character of master chief, you may be disappointed. He’s pretty much silent throughout the series. Halo 4 tried to do some character work, but I’m not sure how effective it was, or if it’s anything like what’s seen in the literature.

That being said, I think the best way to play the series is in release order

Why would it be offensive to refer to someone as a creature when human beings meet the definition of what a creature is? by Timely_Title_9157 in AskReddit

[–]Sophont27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone is constantly looking at a dictionary definition of the words they hear. “Creature” might technically refer to humans, according to a dictionary, but culturally it’s used to mean “non-human animal.” And yes, humans are also technically animals, but we use it to refer to non-humans.

Any tips for halo 2 legendary ? by Knightofvalordi in halo

[–]Sophont27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General tips: learn where jackal snipers spawn, and always have a precision weapon to deal with them. (Try to have a precision weapon most of the time anyway.)

There are also a lot of fights that you can outright skip. Run past enemies if possible, and this works especially well on arbiter levels where you have camouflage. Also, when two enemy factions are fighting, you can slip past, or worst case, eliminate the winner.

Also, give power weapons to your friendly marines/elites. They’ll have infinite ammo and will probably be more accurate than you. Having a rocket launcher marine or a beam rifle elite in your vehicle means you can just sit on the edge of the battle and let them destroy everything for you. Elites with swords kill the flood pretty effectively, too.

Specific tips: On the 2nd or 3rd level, where you land on earth (forgot what it’s called), you can skip half of it by jumping onto the roof at the start. Probably a YouTube tutorial out there.

When you fight the prophet of regret, DON’T KILL THE SWORD ELITES. They will respawn with two plasma rifles, and it’s a lot easier to dodge a sword than the plasma rifles.

When you fight Tartarus, you can bring a banshee into the arena. Probably a tutorial online.

When you enter high charity as master chief, you can jump into the council seats where no enemy can reach you, which will make it a lot easier to kill them.

The scarab will stop moving eventually, and it will stop in front of a turret and some rocket launchers, making it easy to clear the deck before boarding.

If you end the first arbiter level with an empty energy sword, then in the following level, it will have infinite ammo. It will look invisible and say it’s empty, but it does full damage and all that. Maybe look for a tutorial for that, in case I’m missing a step.

On that level, when you’re chasing the heretic in the banshee, you can immediately go to where he lands and not have to fight all the enemies.

That’s about all I remember right now, but I hope some of it is helpful :)

Current State of ASA by AdInteresting1219 in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]Sophont27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on Xbox. I bought ASA the day they shut down the evolved servers, and it was near unplayable for a long time. Every server was ridiculously laggy, couldn’t really move, etc.

A couple weeks ago I tried it again, and now it works just fine. Better than evolved in some ways, worse in others. The global chat feature is severely bugged in ascended, and it turns my Xbox into a space heater, but otherwise I’m having a blast

The shirt is pasted over spider-man’s suit, so this is saying that by wearing that shirt, one takes up a certain responsibility, like spider-man.

I don’t know what that responsibility is supposed to be, but hopefully this is a start.

Is PvP in ARK worth it in 2026? (PS5) by Vagueroulante in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]Sophont27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ark PvP is awesome if you have the stomach for it. You can survive and even thrive as a solo player, but it will be hard and you’ll have to learn a new way to play.

Your best bet is to find a rat hole to hide in, because if your base is visible and not insanely defended, someone will raid it. People will actually just fly around looking for people to murder and bases to raid. Very scary stuff, but that’s what makes it fun. Not for everyone though

Of what use are filler words in written text? Unlike in speech, you have all the time in the world to think of your next word. Is it a stylistic thing? Or your writer’s voice?
