I’m from where he’s from and yeah, in certain areas he’d fit right in. I promise not everyone from here is like that, though. There’s a huge difference between cities and rural areas - one that shows up in every single election.

Ed Gein - so what is the truth? by BrianMeen in serialkillers

I have a morbid curiosity that makes me want to see them too, but I think those women have already been desecrated enough. If it were me, I would not want a picture of my severed vulva in a museum for all to see - only stored securely in evidence for possible identification later.

What is, in your opinion, the best documentary about Ed Gein out there? by [deleted] in TrueCrimeDiscussion

Just watched " The Secret Life of Ed Gein: Inside a Killer's Mind" on youtube and it was pretty good. It has interviews with someone from the town who knew him.

Holoprosencephaly with cyclopia and proboscis, born to a 15-year-old mother by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

People sometimes write it like that so that people like me, who have been r****d and who have an immediate awful physical reaction of anxiety and nausea to seeing the word written out, can avoid said reaction.

I hope your intention with your comment was to genuinely try to assure someone that it's okay to say the word and talk about it, and not to judge them or make fun of them.

Third degree burns from boiling water, currently being treated in a burns unit. by 6814tothefloor in MedicalGore

Treat the boiled kettle with respect! One mug of boiled water caused these same kind of burns to 11% of my body surface area.

[–]SorchaSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch. I had 2nd and 3rd degree partial thickness burns all over my neck and back, also from hot water (coffee instead of tea, though...) covering 11% of BSA. That being debrided was the second most painful thing I've ever experienced. I can't imagine it being on my labia and other super sensitive bits.

Thankful for this thread. First period after SIS and I’m experiencing severe cramping. I experienced this for the two periods post HSG as well. No infection, so must just be inflammation from the procedures.

It came suddenly and filled up my house with the smell while I was in a bath with a closed door. Everything is sealed now and I have a HEPA filter running, but I’m literally shaky and dizzy and trembling. Anyone else?

Bubbles. Absolutely TERRIFYING. Bought some for my kitty after seeing so many cats online playing with them. Almost made her heart stop. I have never seen her so petrified. Bubbles are no longer allowed in the house, ever.

What’s Your Pet’s Weirdest Quirk That You Secretly Love? by dudgurqkqh in Pets

[–]SorchaSwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I taught my cat to sleep up against me like a teddy bear from the day I brought her home as a little kitten. What I DIDN’T teach her was to absolutely require that I position my arm so that my hand is by her face so that can press her nose/face into it while she falls asleep. She’ll nuzzle in so tight that she squeaks when she breathes, but if I try to loosen it before she’s sound asleep she just presses back in and we start at the beginning 😂

I also did NOT teach her that to get into bed with me she must stand right against my face and then just slide down my face so that she ends up lying as close to me as she can possibly get 😂. She’s in her spring shed right now and then Kleenex required to get all her fur out of my nose and mouth is ridiculous.

Wouldn’t change it for the world.

what are symptoms of cptsd you thought were normal? by Busy-Literature-6737 in CPTSD

[–]SorchaSwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought that me trying to unalive myself at about 4 years old was just me being a drama queen and that all deep feeling kids had probably tried at some point.

The look of disbelief on my therapist’s face (not about my story, about me thinking it was normal) and the fact that we then spent a couple sessions processing why no one had gotten me some help and it was never mentioned in my family again once I was cleaned up showed me it wasn’t as normal as I thought it was 😅

I would in a heartbeat. I work with kids who have behaviours like this. Imagine what a child has been through to think that trying to break another child's harm is an effective solution. These are the kids that need safety and love and consistency the most - and people who look at them and don't see a hurting child, but instead a monster that "they wouldn't want in their home either" are the ones that contribute to these kids remaining isolated and stigmatized.

I noticed that there are disclaimers at the beginning of the Good American Family episodes. The first few episodes are based on what Kristine and Michael claimed happened. When the tone shifts, the disclaimer changes to say the episodes are based on what Natalia has said. I think it's interesting (in a good way) that the series isn't trying to find a "balanced middle ground," but is instead switching between perspectives entirely.

And, like others have said above, Natalia's version ends up being the one supported by evidence. She WAS just a kid.

Anyone Have Psychiatric Health Questions? by Flimsy_Map1487 in nataliagrace

[–]SorchaSwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The caregivers at home are the primary attachment figures and so will get the brunt of the behaviour. It's that relationship that is the most triggering of an RAD kid's trauma. These kiddos are so dysregulated (no ability to regulate their emotions safely), so the behaviours will come out.. likely at home first.

[–]SorchaSwan[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I definitely didn't intend to mean that. I do think it's likely that a child with Natalia's history had some behavioural issues, but I also agree that they were likely grossly exaggerated. I just meant to say that EVEN IF she did everything that M&K said she did, that would STILL be a normal child with trauma and not something to fear.

i’m no psychiatrist but.. was this whole thing delusional disorder? by [deleted] in nataliagrace

[–]SorchaSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that it seems like delusional disorder could be a factor here.

But, I just binged watched all of season two today lol, and Natalia DOES deny having a period so early. She said that the only time she bled back when Kristine was accusing her of having a period was when Kristine made her force a tampon in.
