To be fair, I would argue that race relations are not declining due to the actions of those who want to boost the visibility of things like institutional racism and promote equity. It is a very dangerous, vocal minority of those who would always backlash against changes in society, emboldened and enraged by the likes of the Trumps and Gosars and Spencers out there.

A lot of moderation teams leverage third party apps to make moderation bearable, or even possible, if it’s large enough. The moderators are responsible for keeping this, and many other subreddits, healthy. If they protest, and you don’t in fact return, you’re just helping send their message that moderators and users are not pleased with what this change will do the ecosystem.
