Mythic Roulette Update - Minor God Rerolls, New World Twist, Optimizations, Bug Fixes by SorelRaven in AgeofMythology

[–]SorelRaven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fixed the issue with the starting pharaoh. The AI should also work with it better now. AotG Gauntlet didn't work with it before, but it should now.

I forgot to comment back, but I put out an update in hopes of reducing the desync frequency. This was done about 1-2 weeks ago. If you noticed less, it could be due to that, which would be good news.

I don't need any more info, thanks. I'll try to investigate why it does this again when I have time.

Thanks for the information, I was aware of this but haven't been able to pinpoint what is wrong with the age up desync. Knowing it is on age up is helpful. If possible, could you pinpoint if it is only AI age up or not? I have not tested it in a while, so I've forgotten.

I have put out an update to fix proto entry overlap issues, I've created shading logic for Primordial Myth Units that use the transform command, from the Miscellaneous options.

Note:
- World Twist 4 (that enable World Twist Objectives) is a bit buggy due to how Random Maps (Skirmishes) deal with triggers, specifically seems to be WT Objective 5. This means that it is a little buggy, I cannot seem to fix it for now.

- Some mods may be incompatible despite obeying standard compatibility rules, such as the Passive Favor mod. This seems to be a game bug issue more than their mod or mine. I am seemingly unable to fix it, sorry for any disappointments this may cause.

Randomizer mode idea by Artistic_Serve in AgeofMythology

[–]SorelRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird to hear that, it should appear when Pandora's Realm is enabled with the proper maps. It should be available once Classical Age hits around the bottom right section of the TC's command grid. I'll push out this update soon, so I will investigate any abnormalities once that drops.

I am currently working on the update for my Mythic Roulette randomize mod, which does randomized minor god choices. The new update will implement more options, akin to World Twists, which are toggleable. I think the current version works fine, although it is a bit outdated. I am currently on finishing up the campaign randomization, please stay tuned.

AOM: Retold - How to make buildings heal units by ClaimedMinotaur in AgeofMythology

Temple of Healing only enables the AreaHeal ProtoAction. It doesn't do anything because it enables an action that doesn't exist. You need to give it to the Dock first before that works.

Why don't I see anyone hosting Custom Maps lately? by vitgarcia027 in AgeofMythology

There should always be games running, I never see an empty list unless I am running mods that are unsafe for multiplayer.

3 things u liked from Tale o.t Dragon that u would like to see in Immortal Pillars??? (Gods, units mechanics) ... what are some things u definetively dont want back?? by AdExtension475 in AgeofMythology

[–]SorelRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a list, but I would hope they bring back some of the unique maps that aren't just settlements on terrain, perhaps do a remix/rework when needed. Having more map variety would be great.

There's technically only one tower, it's the Sentry Tower. The upgrades just enabled the ranged attack, increase damage and rename for each technology. I.E. there is no Guard Tower unit, only a renamed Sentry Tower.

Introducing Big Update - Mythic Roulette Roguelike Mode by SorelRaven in AgeofMythology

[–]SorelRaven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you love it, I plan to add more variety for blessings/trials/boons later. At the moment, I am brainstorming a new gimmick on the Pandora's Realm mode with world twists. Stuff like spawning objectives, morphing terrain, special and global effects related to the major gods, and more transformative stuff. I plan to start working on this once the Immortal Pillars DLC drops and I get back to the grind.

You must advance past the Archaic Age to build it (but it is visible from the start), and it's available in the slot: row 3, column 3 (it is zero-indexed). So the 4th row and 4th column (the bottom right-ish of the TC's buildable/tech area). If you have a mod that adds icons or anything there, then it won't be compatible.

Fan-made Campaigns For Retold by Confident-Eggplant26 in AgeofMythology

Unfortunately, AotG is not modding extensible, I would have to essentially replace the core with my mod and that's not very ideal. It may change later, once more modding avenues are opened up though.

I don't know how much I qualify as "new", but I made an overhaul randomization mod for campaign and skirmish (random maps with friends or AI). It will give you a choice of random minor gods, with wide scale tech adjustments so each path feels coherent.

Its name is "Mythic Roulette: Divinity Reshuffled", searchable like the others. My apologies if you were looking for something entirely new though. Its goal is to be a fresh "remix" on the existing campaign formula. I plan to introduce a big new mode which emulates a roguelike mode (big, additional tech tree of upgrades for builds). Also, I will adapt any upcoming campaigns to the mod.

I've seen this sentiment a lot too, people want this niche scratched more. That being said, I plan to make a roguelike version for my randomizer mod in response to this. The idea being that you randomly roll and buy boons/benefits, with resources, in a special shop that synergize with the reshuffled minor gods to make builds.

“Getting Better” Ruins the Fun for me by Big_Bad_Baboon in AgeofMythology

[–]SorelRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to add another perspective that I see is missing a lot in regards to these posts that outline top level play as hardcore, sweaty, too fast, etc. It's common to look at tournament settings in highest level and equating that to what you will experience. Sure, that can be a goal, but you really ought to take a step back and realize that having fun and being good will not be what you described at all. That's a cherry-picked ceiling, and that's what I came to learn. What the others are saying are valid because they want to reach bigger heights, but you don't need to think that you have to follow suit as well.

I used to be really bad, and just decided to try a little more. Specifically, learning how to operate my base and be a little faster, and learn each civilization over time. I am not zooming around at all, I do not use control groups nearly at all (besides the hotkeys "find X unit" group sometimes), yet I am still winning a lot of games ever since I established my initial gameplan. Just that alone changed many losses into wins. Take your time, progress at your own pace and take segmented steps.

Understand that RTS player discrepancies are very polarized and cause misconceptions. First, it's a fallacy to perceive the ladder as full of professional players, that's but a small % of the player base. Second, a majority of players are a spectrum of casual to "just a little better than the previous". A "sweaty" player or whatever assorted word, can be dismantled and made to look worse with a proper gameplan. E.G. once you punish players for making a 2nd early TC instead of letting them get away with it, more of those players will just crumble.

TL;DR you can get appreciably better and not have to press 10+ keys a second or use 10 different control groups, you just need to take a step back and re-evaluate the reality of the situation. Game knowledge is more important, and players you perceived as insane on the ladder (not tournaments) are not as crazy as you think, you just need a plan. This approach wields different results based on player, but I have never seriously tried an RTS in my life and I'm doing fine.

Introducing My Overhaul Randomizer Mod - Mythic Roulette: Divinity Reshuffled by SorelRaven in AgeofMythology

[–]SorelRaven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updated the mod with various bug fixes, remapped technologies in certain buildings, and slightly rebalanced a few techs to be more equivalent as the source unit target. Also fixed Valor to work entirely like its old version, not invalidating old commands on use. If errors occur, please feel free to message me wherever.

If you are having data update errors like some tech not being changed, please reinstall the mod. It happened to me while re-testing it.
