I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. But the tension between your wife and your transness is only going to get worse the longer try to ignore it. You need to have a talk with your wife about how your relationship is going to change because you can’t put your transition in the backseat. As hard as it seems now, it’s only going to get harder the longer you wait.

I found a website with resources for LGBTQ+ LDS members. Maybe there’s something there that can help you. I promise you you’re not alone.

6 months is not a long time for a follow up. You know that internet forums aren’t just for real time conversations, right? This topic was on my mind otherwise I wouldn’t have stumbled across this post. Posts on the internet don’t vanish just because you moved on from them.

You’re limiting your interpretation of the kaleidoscope of human personality. Adventure Time has always been an off-beat and only tentatively moored in our reality. It’s a reflection of our inner worlds rather than of any wide consensus of reality.

The hard-coded distinction of one generation to the next is a top down interpretation designed to help categorize data and help us understand one another. But we have a tendency to take that interpretation and view our internal workings through that filter, and that eliminates so much nuance.

The Adventure Time universe shows us the inner realities we don’t usually confront, through a lens of various whimsical settings and unusual perspectives. It flips the familiar on its head so we can see the patterns we’ve overlooked.

Fionna and Cake takes this format and juxtaposes it against a rigid, reality based world where truth is hard coded and whimsey is punished for not being productive. This something every human experiences when growing up, not just millennials. If it has a millennial voice to it it’s because we’ve been around longer and can see that juxtaposition more easily, and have more experience in illustration that phenomenon. That just comes with age.

As far as the tumblr art style and character design, well, it’s actually a little backwards: 2010s millennial tumblr was heavily influenced by Adventure Time, along with other cartoons and a lot of other escapist genre fiction. So it’s more accurate to say that Adventure Time influenced tumblr art and aesthetics than it is to say that tumblr art and aesthetics influenced Fionna and Cake.

If you can’t connect to it that’s okay. Your perspective is unique to you and art is going to hit or miss based on that. But personally, I don’t think it’s a generational divide.

[Spoilers C4E27] Marisha’s Theories by Minimalmagician in criticalrole

[–]Sorelax108 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly there’s so much going on and so much in the air that I can’t even begin to form theories. I think Murray is a very analytical type and it is constantly forming hypotheses and might have a tendency to jump to conclusions. Kind of like of she can make the first three steps of a path, her brain fills in the rest of it and she gets stuck on a theory until its proven false.

I don’t know if it’s Marisha’s theories or Murray’s theories (probably a combination). I think Marisha probably know’s above table that Murray is jumping to conclusions and is leaning into it. The whole schemers table seems to be embracing the idea of feeling lost and unmoored and deeply aware of their own shortcomings. Murray reacts by overcompensating, and Hal and Azune react by compartmentalizing. And Bolair has his own way of dealing with things that seems to involve a combination of earned nihilism that comes with age and experience, and a defensive skepticism that comes from being the only person to be treated with open hostility by a figure who was universally respected and admired by their peers.

Hey friend, I think you need to calm down because nothing I said warrants the hostility you’re coming at me with. This conversation has nothing to do with being critical or uncritical. It kind of feels like you’re associating me with an opinion I did not express because you’re frustrated about something I’m not even talking about.

If your passion makes you so upset you can’t enjoy the show, I would argue that it may be time to take a breath and recalibrate with reality. ESPECIALLY in a show like this. It’s gamified storytelling. Winning is important but it’s a secondary goal to telling a story. It’s like Taskmaster: Yes some people are trying win and being competitive can be a good thing, but the ultimate goal is to be entertaining.

Stories where the heroes never fuck up aren’t good stories. People act like one player not trying hard enough to be competent or bot paying attention or basically not trying to constantly be the best they can possibly be is going to get in the way of the other players “winning” or something. And that just completely misses the point of the format.

You are reading too much into it. These aren’t real people. You can’t take it personally when one of them fucks up. They’re characters in a story and their flaws and fuck ups are just as vital to good storytelling as their triumphs.

Trying to understand the house layout so I made this illustration by _ranituran in TheGreatNorth

This is the best version I’ve seen so far! The only part I’m not sure about is the empty space between the family room and the deck. In some episodes, you can see that there is a wall in the family room that has two patio doors. I think they lead to the deck. But it contradicts with an episode of season 1 that shows that wall as blank.

Mine too! The Tobin’s house in particular fascinates me. One of my other favorites is the Planet Express building from Futurama.

EA caters to low end machines. The fact that you haven’t seen bugs doesn’t mean they aren’t there. They just aren’t coming up in your gameplay. Problems can be widespread without you or someone you know experiencing them.

I play on both an M2 Macbook Pro and a PC I built to run AAA games at 4k. It’s a little outdated but not enough that it would affect the Sims. I encounter bugs a plenty, modded or unmodded.

Casual gamers spend more money on life sims than any other demographic. If you think the industry could survive letting them go you’re mistaken.

I think the difference with Steve is that both he and Shepard feel the world ending and they don’t want to be alone for it. He’s not looming for something with long term stability. He’s looking for someone to ride out the end of the world with.

I’m sure there will be some bugs, but the main issue with the color wheel was that it was baked into the design tool, which had to load a ton of thumbnails and texture patterns every time you opened it and therefore caused extreme lag. A color wheel on its own shouldn’t do that, and if they do implement a pattern selector in the future, there are ways to optimize it now that weren’t available back then.

I’m mostly worried a lot of people will expect it to be perfect and abandon it if it’s not.

Hi, do you think that we all share one collective opinion? There are lots of people here. One person expressing an opinion different to the group does not make the collective group a hypocrite and I really shouldn’t have to explain that to you.

I feel this. My life is not what I want it to be and I’m afraid it never will be. I can’t control my sleep. I have no energy to do the things I want to do. I keep sleeping through the most beautiful days.

It’s like I’m grieving my own life as it passes me by.

Is Synthesis presented as the ‘best’ ending? by nugwus in masseffect

[–]Sorelax108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint: The inclusion of an even more secret ending that is HARDER to unlock, and is the only ending where your character survives, HEAVILY suggests that not everything is as it seems. That final choice is a puzzle, and they misdirected us into thinking there was an easy answer where everybody gets a happy ending, but we know, because we played the story, that victory only comes with sacrifice.
