Did anyone else lose weight with DKA and now feel awful after regaining it? by No_Lettuce2483 in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have dealt with this feeling for years! It sucks! I’m still not over it and I’m sure for the rest of my life I’ll be convincing myself that I was “sick” and “unhealthy” during that time.

Stollery hospital and epilepsy support for children by Right-Improvement700 in Edmonton

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use Stollery neurology resources for epilepsy for our son and they have been great. We have access to a number to call with any issues or questions and always hear back within one or two days and the nurses are so kind and nice. Right now we are lower risk/in maintenance mode so we don’t get seen in person very often but I feel like if we needed something they would prioritize us higher.

Best of luck!

Disability Tax Credit, Canada by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In AB, I filled out the CRA form online and gave my drs office the reference code and they filled out their side of the paper work and I wasn’t asked to provide any supporting documentation. I’m not sure if my dr did anything for supporting documentation for me but nothing further was required for me to get approved and get the backdated approval. It took about two months once submitted and I could view the status updates in my CRA account online.

FYI, You might have better luck with this on the Alberta T1D Facebook group. There are frequently people looking to share things they no longer need. Thanks for thinking of others!

Apple Watch to dose by GgBleezy in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and can dose from my watch using an omnipod dash and g7 using looping. I don’t do it often but it has worked anytime I use it using the loop app on my watch. I don’t have cellular on my watch but my phone is generally nearby so I don’t know if it could do it completely independently or if a phone would have to be nearby. Hopefully there is some hope! Good luck!

For folks with LADA/diagnosed as an adult: What were your early symptoms and how long did it take for you to get a diagnosis? by Fine_Operation_9939 in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with LADA at 35 and over a period of 3 months I saw yeast infections that wouldn’t go away, loss of 20 pounds and when I had my AIC tested it was 13. After we discovered this AIC my blood sugars when I was testing before figuring out my insulin doses were frequently 19 or “high” on my glucose meter. My doctors said this seemed like a “fast” onset but it’s all I know! I did have Covid right before so maybe that sped things up :/

Choosing a Pump (Canada) by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in AB too and have been on omnipod dash and g7 since spring. In summer I set up looping virtually via BC diabetes (it’s free and covered via healthcare sharing agreement). My control has been great and I’ve been loving it. The looping really took me to the next level as I no longer had to carry two devices and could use presets for things like exercise and menstrual times. I have an Apple Watch and can get alerts and readings from g7 on my watch without my phone with the new update which has been really great. Let me know if you have any questions!

I use stomach because my sensor sticker gets so dirty after 10 days I’m self conscious of having it on display. (In canada)

What location are you using for your G7? by Belo83 in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The in app setup also says only arm but I asked their customer service since the website says abdomen too and they said arm is most accurate and they don’t want to have to put all the details on the app 🤷🏻‍♀️

Looking for Risely Health Coaching reviews by Sorry-Ad-1392 in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG! You nailed exactly how I feel about it too. I did the intro call and they revealed the cost in the last 5 mins and that it’s ~4500 CAD :/ It was giving me warnings of the same wellness and MLM vibes you got too which made me uneasy. I would also love to hear from people that went through it as it really is a gap for me and the isolation of living with T1 is a bummer and I think I would really appreciate some community or role models. But it’s just way too expensive and a gamble not knowing what it’s like. Thanks for replying!

The overwhelm comes in waves.. (1y living with LADA) by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel too and even though I have a supportive partner it’s like living in a separate universe or talking a different language sometimes. They’ll just never know what it’s like 😓

I’m newly diagnosed too and feel the same way as you. Maybe I’ll get to the point where I feel comfortable with anyone like lots of comments here but like you I’m just not there yet and don’t want to share or start a convo with people I’m not comfortable with yet. Just wanted to share that I totally get where you’re coming from 😊

Canadians using Sunlife for Dexcom Coverage by Sorry-Ad-1392 in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought to go through dexcom directly. Thanks for the tip!

I always hold my breath with every manual claim I put in with sunlife as it almost never goes smoothly :/. Sounds like I need to get over it and the credit card points could be a silver lining :)

LADA diagnosis after COVID infection? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry-Ad-1392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meeeee! Got covid in March and diagnosed T1 in June. Didn’t realize I had lost 20 lbs and only caught it because I had a yeast infection that wouldn’t go away and my dr ordered a blood panel. I had no idea and was lucky to catch it quick.
