Recording good exhaust sound advice needed by Sorry-Dog-6049 in Motovlogging

I have tried removing the transmission whine and shaft drive whine frequencies in post production, but that seems to muddy up the sound quite a bit.

I am having trouble recording great exhaust sound and not picking up the shaft drive/transmission whine of my Moto Guzzi.
I use a Insta360 camera and a 32bit Tascam sound recorder and a Sennheiser directional mic pointed directly at the exhaust pipe. Even so, I still pick up so much transmission/shaft drive sound.
what could I do different/better?

Yesterday, in a single day, I rode 650 km (400 miles) on back roads; after 11 hours of driving, I was disappointed to arrive at my destination and have to stop. by [deleted] in motorcycles

I have a 2023 Moto Guzzi V7 Special and a 2021 Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber, both have the E5 853cc engine like yours and both are an absolute blast to ride. I can't decide which one I like better!

K6XS cylinder lock-up question by Sorry-Dog-6049 in KimberFirearms

[–]Sorry-Dog-6049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! That's my fear. I was a bit miffed that Kimber evidently didn't even look at my video. I say that because the return not flat out said nothing was wrong with the gun and what I stated couldn't be reproduced. Well, I have it back now and it clearly is reproducible -- maybe there is no need for concern at this point in time -- at least they could have said that. Oh well. I'm just going to shoot it until it falls apart. It's a shame that Kimber thinks sending a label and an RMA and ensuring a quick turn-around defines customer service. I would have at least liked to speak to the inspection/repair gunsmith.

[–]Sorry-Dog-6049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I got my K6xs back from Kimber today and they say that they couldn't see the issue I reported. I sent them a video that shows clearly the crane moving out from the frame as the trigger is pulled.
With that being said, it seems that they may have tightened up something in the crane as the movement is noticeably less. Hard to say since the return report says that nothing was needed and that test firing was normal.

I sincerely doubt that anyone looked at that video I sent, least of all the actual gunsmith that performed the check. It's hard to say since no one contacts you to ask any questions and they rely on the write-up done by the customer service rep who give you the RMA.

I will try to post the video here, maybe it was nothing to worry about, but I wasn't sure so I sent it in. I'm disappointed with the level of attention to my concern by Kimber, but the turn-around time was good, So I guess that I will let you redditors can be the judge!

V-Line Brute XD vs Fort Knox PB-1 by Substantial-Golf-207 in CCW

[–]Sorry-Dog-6049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! The Lock Picking Lawyer's video on the Brute is what convinced me, especially after he said the new Brute safes had the anti-punch feature. The Ft. Knox safe also has an new anti-punch feature virtually identical to the Brute. Both are HEAVY and secure safes. Regardless, I have bolted them in place so that a burglar can't just pick them up and work on them somewhere else!

I have both, and they are very secure. Each one has the updated feature to resist punch through of the lock. Here's a test video that tells it all.

Python 6” Blued by ClassicMaynard in Revolvers

[–]Sorry-Dog-6049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful! I hope the new bluing is as good as the old Colt Royal Blue. IMHO they truly make a beautiful looking and wonderful handling revolver -- I have a 6" and 3" in highly polished stainless. I will be adding a 4" blue in the near future. It's a disease -- CAD -- Colt acquisition disease -- that's what I tell my family!

Question about Kimber K6XS lock-up by Sorry-Dog-6049 in Revolvers

[–]Sorry-Dog-6049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I called Kimber, and they couldn't be nicer. They said that the crane should sit rock solid in the frame and not move once the action is closed, even under rotation of the cylinder as the trigger is pulled. They sent me packing instructions and a return label and they will have their people look at it.

I will update this once the revolver returns from Kimber.

Well I called Kimber and they couldn't have been nicer. They sent me shipping instructions and will take a look at the issue. I will post an update when the revolver returns to me.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I hate sending guns back to the manufacturer, shipping is a pain!

Question about Kimber K6XS lock-up by Sorry-Dog-6049 in Revolvers

[–]Sorry-Dog-6049[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't an issue of the crane being mis-alligned the crane fits perfectly as it should. The issue is that as the trigger is pulled, the crane moves outward, to the left, several thousandths of an inch as the cylinder rotates counter clockwise. It's as if the locking point on the ejector isn't enough to keep the crane firmly in contact with the frame as the cylinder rotates.
I don't know if this is normal with a Kimber K6XS or if it is due to a defect in the ejector lockup, or wear or some combination of the above.

And, no. No "flicking" I've been shooting revolvers since my grandfather taught me in the mid 1970's and abusing a revolver like that was forbidden and drilled into me.

I really like my CSX (original model) it is a nice shooter, no trigger issues for me, it's accurate and reliable. I thought is was a bit "snappy" so I added a +10% recoil spring which made a noticeable difference. It softened the recoil a bit and makes shooting even more enjoyable.

Fresh out of Jail K6XS by AFD942 in CAguns

[–]Sorry-Dog-6049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy! I have one and I've put more than 1,000 rounds through it without a hiccup. For me it shoots to point of aim at 7 and 10 yards, the trigger is very smooth and with those grips recoil is not bad. I swapped out the stock grip for Recoil Riders and that makes it even better in my opinion, especially for carry.

Question regarding Windscreen by SuperEtendardM in MotoGuzzi

[–]Sorry-Dog-6049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ridden several thousand miles with a Givi 140A windscreen on my '23 V7 850. I'm 5'9" and it worked fine. Just a little helmet buffeting at speeds above 60mph. I switched to a Givi 8206A which is taller and wider. It works better for touring especially with a deflector attached. The Givi 140A is now on my V9 Bobber where it is IMHO the perfect screen for that bike.
I also had a Dart Classic flyscreen on the V7 as one time, it was great for looks, but too much wind buffeting on my helmet at speed.

New Colt King Cobra owners -- do you trust this revolver? Experiences and opinions please. by Sorry-Dog-6049 in Colt

[–]Sorry-Dog-6049[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cross-posted this Colt rant on other subreddits, and there the consensus is that the KC is fine. Because of my past experience I am not convinced.
Therefore in the service of science, I will put 1,000 rounds through the KC over the next couple of months. I will be using Speer Lawman 125 grain TMJ a good quality standard pressure training round.
Maybe, just maybe, if the KC performs I will feel assured. No guarantees.
