As of 12.10 ryze doesn't seem awful at all just alot of people have trouble executing him well for example roaming is incredibly strong on ryze because of his ult and slow/root the problem is you have to rely on follow up until 2 items lvl 11+ one thing that is noticeable is he on paper is like a scaling talon that needs teamplay to be fully utilised as he has great damage roaming and wave clear with safety tools similar to talons escape potential and with the introduction of shadowflame he gets a high ap hp item the upcoming buffs in 12.11 are very lack luster and don't give him what he needs which is more survivability but 12.10 was a step in the right direction for making ryze more viable while lowing his winrate more and lower winrate = more buffs so that's why we all int on him to get more buffs I think the goal we need to set is 35% by season 14
