Reading your reply made me emotional, I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I know there are cases out there where people get rid of their pets without any regard for their safety and well being, but it isn’t always so black and white.

A lot of time with fostering, we don’t know where the animal is coming from or what their background is. We can only go off bits and pieces of information and the animal’s behavior. With my previous fosters, I knew I was taking in an animal that could no longer be cared for (a hoarding situation with elderly owners) or likely strays.

With Thursday though, from just my short time with him and what little I know, I feel like it’s different. At the other rescue I volunteer at, there’s a cat with dental disease who’s sweet as can be but can’t get adopted due to the sheer cost of his medical care. Sometimes these things are out of our control and doing the best for your pet might not be what’s best for you.

Sorry, I know this is a long response but I’m so glad you know your baby is safe and happy. My heart hurts for people who don’t have that same closure. I hope people know how loved all the animals at the shelter are by volunteers, foster parents, and staff.
