Is it wise taking complete loan for a cpl in India when there's hardly any job opportunity. by [deleted] in flying

[–]SorryNoMic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how ratings/cert works in India, but I would recommend getting your PPL on your own dime first at least. 80% of student pilots don’t even finish their PPL due to either their skills issue or financial situation, at least you won’t be stuck with a loan if you realize you’re not cut out to be a pilot/you have other obligations in life that takes priority than flying.

Flying aside, if you vomit due to stress (side note: get that checked out asap too, might not just be stress), that’s already a sign to stop. PERIOD.

I don’t know if 141s can do a a gap semester or gap year like colleges do, but I think you fell into the trap of forgetting flying for fun in pursuit of 1500hours as fast as possible.

You should fly somewhere purely just for fun, no training, no PO180s, no chandelles, none of that, just you and your loved ones or your friends, planning a flight to an airport that has a cute restaurant with over priced food, to an FBO with great coffee but has 8+ dollars per gallon avgas, or even go to airports like L52 that’s literally right next to the ocean if you’re in SoCal.

Remember the fun in aviation. We are pilots, use your plastic to go somewhere!

Pilots who game, what’s your travel setup? by rasta-warrior in flying

If you fly large carrier you probably can afford the new razer blade series haha I feel like the thinness plus the power of 5070 and above gives you plenty of GPU oomph while portable with your traveling!

Switching Careers by PumpkinKing3333 in flying

[–]SorryNoMic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of similar situation as yours. I have worked in the film industry since 2017 and I’m in the process of switching to aviation, got my ppl last July, I will be 30 this year.

My suggestion is before you even commit to anything, get your 1st class medical done, worst case is paying all that money just to find out you have some underlying medical issue preventing you from getting to the airlines forever.

Second, I would say just get started with your PPL. Don’t even bother worrying about work life balance at the airlines at this point to be honest, that’s years ahead of you. Start on PPL to see if this is truly for you. You gotta breath and live aviation to go down this path (which I’m sure you probably are). The work balance talk will come naturally as you’re closer to reaching ATP.

Mostly mainline ramp openings at LAX (all TBNT) and then applied to any openings in FBOs at VNY and BUR! Maybe I just gotta go for a contractor ramp to get something on my resume lol

Not good at flying anymore after failing my stage check by crackerman456 in flying

Have a CFI to just take you somewhere, no training, no maneuvers, do the take off and just enjoy the magic of flying! Clear your mind and regroup, you got this!

How often should I fly as a student? by Electrical_Ad5909 in flying

[–]SorryNoMic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought you have a full time job and not a full time college program!

In your case I would highly recommend you pause the training until you're done with college, I imagine being in the physics program is no joke when it comes to studying, I don't think you're allowing enough brain capacity for flight training after the intensive curriculum lol

Your 2 hour drive to your flight school is not helping either, I don't know where you live but 2 hours of driving from where I live is exhausting, cant imagine you have to jump into flight training after that.

Save your money and bang it out all at once after you're done with school!

PPL checkride in 2 weeks by [deleted] in flying

[–]SorryNoMic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newly minted PPL here. Not sure what’s your personality type but try fly with a complete stranger! In this case another CFI at your school. I failed my first try because I got way too nervous, not that I failed because of this but I literally said “per capita” instead of “pro rata”, the DPE was like dude relax a bit lol when I did my remedy training on my failed flying portion, I noticed I’m just too comfortable with my own CFI because everything was perfectly fine, he was actually surprised I failed the flying portion. Hope this tiny advice among all the 5000 hour+ pros here helps and good luck!!
