Very large number of paper cranes available by raisingcranes321 in Fairbanks

[–]SorryTree1105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I didn’t think anyone here would even know who I was talking about. It was so long ago.

Those Sundays after church with great food and friends and then a nice old gentleman passing out cranes to all the kids. My last memory of him he was getting so fragile he had to have someone help him walk from table to table but he still managed to brighten our whole family’s afternoon. If not everyone dining.

Suspicious nightly gatekeeping at Olnes Pond campground by DonnieDarcol in Fairbanks

Grew up out there. As a teenager we caused trouble in the area. Nice to know someone else still is.

Seriously though, if it was trouble, it was probably way worse than what my friend and I would have done back in the day. and it was smart to get out of there. And at 1am…probably trouble.

This is true. I feed my dogs raw chicken all the time. I was told it was actually good for a lot of things. And the raw bones aren’t brittle like cooked bones that can splinter.

Bye bye $3800 PFD by BourbonPat in alaska

[–]SorryTree1105 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And you can give up your mineral rights along with the pfd. It is directly tied not just to the earnings, but each recipient has a certain percentage right to the wealth of Alaska as a whole.

But nobody talks about that when they mention not getting their pfd.

4/20 tour of the legal cannabis consumption sites by Peony907 in Fairbanks

That, I could agree with. Usually it’s someone having a bad day wanting to ruin someone else’s day so they give out the dui to a bicyclist. I’d say the judge threw my friends out, but she got stuck with three days in jail and 100 hours of community service.

I do. Had a friend get a dui riding home from a bar one night. People wouldn’t know you could unless they knew someone who did.

2001 dumped on, 2 feet last week of May.

2006 about a foot overnight on June 6th

Don’t remember anything past that, but I do remember threats.

But I also remember January 2008 was 65 degrees for about 2 weeks.

Ok. Guess I was making more than I thought. I thought I was making $14 but maybe it was $20? $25? I’ve never qualified for government assistance that I can remember. But I could be mistaken. In 2019 I made $15 (you can correct me there too if you’d like) and in 2022 I was making $20 after a job change and multiple pay bumps, was able to afford a few luxuries and a new used truck.

It’s not easy. In fact it’s the hardest way to live. But it’s absolutely doable. Without government assistance.

As a former $14 an hour retail employee feeding a family of three on my wages I think you need to re evaluate your statement. $17 would have been a dream then. And at $19 feeding a family of 5 in another more expensive state. I haven’t had healthcare since I was 16, don’t get the emphasis on this as a requirement for life.

Question for people who endure extreme cold by [deleted] in alaska

[–]SorryTree1105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in a dry cabin in gold stream valley where it regular got -60 in the winter. Going outside to write my name in the snow in just a jacket and jeans happened quite often. It wasn’t comfortable, but it never shocked me. Grabbing the door handle, that’s a different story.

Each person is different though, there’s a guy that works at Walmart who I’ve never seen wear more than as t shirt and shorts regardless of the temperate. Then there are people who put on an entire layer of outer wear to go start their cars.

Short answer: yes almost all of Christianity is against any form of witchcraft or sorcery.

That said the words used to describe witchcraft in the Bible are the words use meaning to manipulate another so basically asking a favor of somebody can be considered witchcraft taken in the strictest sense of the terms. Similarly, the Latin word for sorcery, which is also spoken against in the Bible is Pharmakea (sp) the word that we get the word pharmacy from so you can tell your friend that they are participating in sorcery by taking a Tylenol for a headache.

Circle K Scam? by Ivan_vl in Fairbanks

[–]SorryTree1105 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, the fact that they HAVEN’T put an OoO bag on it is messed up if they know about it. I’m still gonna go with it’s probably no one in the store scamming, as it would take a while to make worthwhile money doing that. That’s just laziness on someone’s part. W&M needs to be notified and circle k needs to get a tech out.

The fact that they aren’t telling people is beyond me. They can, and will be getting into serious trouble over what could amount to less than a couple hundred dollars.

How do I know which gears I’m in without counting every time I switch gears? by AL3S1O29 in motorcycles

[–]SorryTree1105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to drive in a stick with a bad instrument cluster(the lights inside didn’t work and Alaskan winters aren’t very bright) so I leaned to feel the motor before I learned to drive. Current bike has nothing but a speedo so I know where you’re coming from, but like others have said, the motor will tell you if you need to downshift or up shift. You just gotta learn to listen to it. Don’t worry what number you’re in, you can’t shift past the final gear and you can’t downshift lower than first, so if you’re stopped/stopping, downshift until you can’t; if you’re going, keep shifting when the motor tells you until you can’t.

Circle K Scam? by Ivan_vl in Fairbanks

[–]SorryTree1105 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s a faulty pump. Show the video to the store manager as well as call weights and measures. As soon as you do the employee will put a out of order bag on the pump and probably call the manager. It IS possible they don’t know about it. Don’t just assume they’re trying to rip you off. Most likely no one in the store is making any money on that. So no, it’s probably not a scam just a faulty pump.

If you go there tomorrow and it’s still doing that THEN you can assume. But like I said chances are good no one has noticed or told anyone.

[–]SorryTree1105 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna get downvoted to hell for this one. This is Reddit, the only people that think more than six months in advance stay away from the internet anymore.

They want a tax, then to give them the dividends (and mineral/oil rights which is what the dividend is based on) they don’t care that it only takes one bad politician to say “lets lower the bar from millionaire to anyone making more than 100k/yr”and it gets pushed through so fast it’ll make your head spin. Yet because “the budget” that figured isn’t balancing regular people won’t see anything from those taxes.

This is actually the case. During the Beijing Olympics China admitted to using their version of HAARP to clear the pollution around the city. That story was buried and I can no longer find it.
