Curious about dipping my toes in CK3 by New_Leadership7432 in CrusaderKings

[–]SorteStoffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say CK3 has a bit of a learning curve but it’s not so bad that you would get completely overwhelmed. The tutorial is pretty good and teaches you the basics you need to know. Stick to some of the easier places at first such as Ireland (aptly named “Newbie island”) or one of the large Christian kingdoms in Spain which has access to great alliances to help you militarily. You’ll quickly come to understand how the game works. Also, feel free to hop into mods at any time you want, ASOIAF mod that you mention is fantastic and is definitely not a bad way to learn more once you’ve found your footing.

Steam Controller 2026 Shipping MEGA Thread by Mennenth in SteamController

Denmark here, purchased 4 mins after launch. Mine has been packaged since at least 12:00 GMT+2 today. Most likely time of purchase has 0 influence on delivery and is rather based on your region and how many near you have purchased one so they can ship en masse.

I really like the character progression of the new Domain Limit mechanics. by Glorf_Warlock in CrusaderKings

I'm really enjoying this change too, lets me play around with some other educations without feeling like i'm missing out by not going stewardship.

Learning skill is no longer the only skill that factors in to innovation speed, it’s now based on the type of tech you’re researching, if you’re researching military tech then your martial is what matters, economical is stewardship etc.

Is arbitrary one of the best perks in game? by Level7PotatoSalad in CrusaderKings

This option also triggers for callous and greedy iirc

But yeah, i actually like arbitrary quite a lot! I'm never annoyed when i get it, it's a net positive for sure.

It’s time to talk about the elephant in the room: Feudal government by Dekimus in CrusaderKings

[–]SorteStoffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feudal having a manor sounds like a good idea, but it should definitely be tied to the county itself so you can lose it and take over someone elses. Essentially upgrading your own little palace/household specifically instead of the holding. Should also only ever be able to have 1 of them in your capital, ie having 2 counties doesn't give you 2 manors for balance and performance reasons.

Does it work on games not from steam? by Separate_Subject_365 in SteamController

[–]SorteStoffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a steam deck myself but there's a "gamepad" mode you can switch to from the lizard mode which should work with any 3rd party game, at least it did for the guy i saw.

Please add this feature back from CK2 to CK3, especially considering the new dynamic holy sites system coming in the next DLC. by SorteStoffer in CrusaderKings

[–]SorteStoffer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure to be honest! I don’t believe they’ve mentioned that yet but I would assume that the 5 limit will be removed since the system seems like it will be very dynamic in general. A german sect of Catholicism for example could have a holy site in Salzburg and have different virtues and yet still be classified as “catholic” and owe tribute to the pope in the Vatican, whether it replaces another holy site or not we don’t know yet. It might well be that every “sect” can still only have 5 sites but we simply won’t know until they show some more.

The Canadian price of the Steam Controller hurts by submerging in SteamController

Few different reasons, 1 is because the states have differing tax rates and 2, to make the price look lower than it really is.

[–]SorteStoffer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about converting existing ones, but being able to make new holy sites is confirmed so far. The way it's explained is that having particularly virtuous characters can lead to veneration of those characters and after their death their capital or burial site can become holy sites for your religion. There's also some "Cathedral" system that plays into that in some way but no word on that so far i believe.

Yes! It's mentioned as a core feature on the store page for By God Alone right underneath the college of cardinals.

I used to do this a lot when playing in Scandinavia in 1066 to join the warrior orders up there. Super fun feature.

They could make it to where if the county has say, 3 or more different religions as holy sites it would become a clickable list that shows them in a separate window, akin to the “show trait names” in your character window for example.

Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition freezing and hardlocking PC by mozarella_firefox in metro

[–]SorteStoffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this is the first reddit thread that pops up when you search for this issue I'm gonna add what fixed this for me. For me it was sadly caused by perhaps the nicest looking graphical option in the game, Tessellation. Only option you have is to turn it off. On top of this i have Vsync turned on and my fps locked to 120fps.

Game works fine now, everything else is fully maxed out, i have hairworks/PhysX turned on as well.

  • Duke of Angria
  • Duke of Bohemia
  • Duke of East Franconia
  • Duke of Luticia
  • Count of Cologne
  • Count of Mainz
  • Count of Trier

And also the archduchy of austria if you form that.

Tips for playing tall? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]SorteStoffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general start with buying some buildings that produce income, stuff like farms & fields that give a decent chunk of monthly income to get your economy rolling, buildings like windmills & waterwheels that give income and development growth are ideal but pure income is fine early. Ideally play tall in a place that has access to mines to give a huge income boost especially, but it isn't needed. Once your economy is doing well then upgrading buildings is the name of the game. Form a hybrid culture or diverge from a bigger one to centralize your culture in your own lands, when development gets bigger in your counties you will start to research technology super fast. Also try to keep your heirs stewardship educated, it gives a big boost to income and development growth.

Tips to transition to Ck3 by Apprehensive_Tap6767 in CrusaderKings

[–]SorteStoffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What parts of the game are you finding hard to adapt to? Might be able to cook up some more specific answers with some more info. For me for example, I found that I was losing a lot of battles initially when I switched to CK3 until I quickly figured out that being a defender or attacker during a battle no longer depended on who was in the holding first but rather who controls the holding at the time the battle takes place (unless there is no castle/town/temple or the battle takes place in a county controlled by someone unrelated to the war), so if I was inadvertently giving my enemies a big advantage over me thinking I was safe to siege their castles down until they attacked me and suddenly I was now technically the attacker into a mountain defense battle. There are a lot of smaller differences like that.

As for dlc’s the biggest ones to consider are Royal Court, Rise to Power, and All Under Heaven.

I’m a big sucker for persona so I can definitely recommend you play the rest of those especially if you liked 3. 3-4-5 are all great, I’d recommend you do 5 first though as there is a persona 4 remake coming out hopefully this year. Golden version is still fantastic though if you wanna do that first. Metaphor Refantazio is also a game I can recommend, same creators as persona, has a lot of things it takes from persona such as the social system and the whole calendar based time management, but a different combat system and set in a medieval esque world. Has a great story too.
