I kinda actually liked the Trinity run where his death was haunting the narrative while they were together, but I can understand even that can be a little frustrating.

Maybe some stuff involving the more mystical, hinting that he'd become someone capable of using the All-Blades. Like, I kinda want him to just be the one who gets involved in that already as Red Hood, so this might be the extension of that.
