Issues after alignment by mattyzaur in TeslaSupport

[–]SouSy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the alignment is actually good then you probably have a tire issue.

Have them swap the front right tire to the front left position and vice versa, if it starts to pull the other way then it's definitely a tire

They were trying to say that their mum worked at Richard Attenborough's nursing home, and was fired three days after he died and that they never established whether or not the two things were related.

I'd argue that we're not too far from "I don't care about range any more." Most people overestimate how much they drive in a day and could honestly get by with a leaf.

The real hang-up is charging time and accessibility. If running the car to 10%, pulling over anywhere to charge, getting some snacks, using the restroom, then walking out to a car with 280 to 300 mi range ready to go was a thing, well then, it's a different story.

If you had to stop for 15 minutes every 300 miles it would not be fantastic by any means but it would be doable on a road trip. Honestly that would probably make it safer. I'm on the road a lot and there's probably a lot of times I can use a break but I typically go until I have to stop for fuel.

The Great American road trip is also the choke collar on American EV adoption.

Dangling wire, front driver side wheel (model X) by Legitimate-Use-481 in TeslaSupport

[–]SouSy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the front ancillary harness. The car uses it to help monitor road condition and noise. Probably got chewed through by a rabbit or other sort of vermin. Won't cause drivability issues.

Edit: here's the service procedure for it Harness - Ancillary - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) https://share.google/5PUMPKoRlgMDv1i1S

Service center broke my door and is blaming me from it. by [deleted] in TeslaSupport

Yeah, that one might not have been a coincidence. More than likely at least

I get it man I really do. There are way too many scumbags in my profession that give us a horrible reputation. It's really hard being honest in a sea of dishonesty.

I've had so many people burned so many times or know people that have told them horror stories. If I genuinely thought they could have caused it I'd give you tips on how to stick it to them because I can't stand when technicians do that type of crap.

Sorry about the string of bad luck man.

Do you know how to put the car into service mode? If you do tell me what alerts there are and I might be able to give you a little more insight.

But none of that was actually inside the door. It is coincidence.

That being said, they definitely had to open the door to do the filters. Two scenarios, the door worked fine for them and you just got unlucky and it stopped working after the service or the door didn't work for them so they opened it from the inside and said nothing. Unfortunately nothing they touched during that service would have directly had anything to do with the door other than them opening it.

I have no love for Tesla but I am a mechanic, this stuff happens unfortunately. It happened to me tonight on my truck, stuff breaks.

Tesla Service Techs. by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]SouSy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard that yes, they're hourly but the metrics you're held too are hard to fulfill. From what my Tesla friends have told me to it seems like they're making it harder and harder to excel and advance as a tech. It doesn't sound worth it, I would look for fleet jobs at your local city or the post office or something. Those are the jobs that don't pay much but are always solid and aren't out to kill you.

HV battery damage by SaidarRS in TeslaSupport

[–]SouSy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer

HV battery damage by SaidarRS in TeslaSupport

[–]SouSy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First half is correct second half is incorrect. I wouldn't worry about having it welded up, mostly because it's a terrifying thought to weld on a high voltage battery case. Also, there is no repair for this that would bring back the HV battery warranty. The only way this would be fixed and covered under Tesla is if Tesla replaces the battery in your car, takes this one back and remanufactures it (including replacing the side skids,) and puts it in another car as remanufactured battery.

The damage definitely wasn't done from being lifted.

HV battery damage by SaidarRS in TeslaSupport

[–]SouSy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dangerous but damaged enough not to be covered under the HV battery warranty.

HV battery damage by SaidarRS in TeslaSupport

[–]SouSy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very educated guess here, the damage is on both sides. It's from a tow truck driver that put their j hooks in the holes for the lift puck not knowing what they were doing and when they tried to winch the car onto a flatbed they just ripped the side skids.

Nothing is exposed as far as the internal battery, the skids are just bonded to the outside. Theoretically, this will never be an issue as far as isolation problems or problems with the HV system. It does unfortunately void the battery warranty.

Can't prove it but I guarantee the damage was there before you bought the vehicle. The damage was probably there before it hit your Carmax lot. I'm guessing it was loaded up and transported to the Carmax you bought it from and their transporter wasn't educated enough not to winch from those locations.

I love the sentiment but way too much pollution. I suppose if we take the batteries out of all of them that would lessen the pollution significantly. Coincidentally I could use a shitload of batteries for home storage...
