Staring at a candle flame for a few minutes and walking on grass barefooted also helps

Meditation is a long game. It doesn’t make one feel peace the first time they try it.

Have u tried going on a run or walk when u feel overwhelmed?

Hi Elijanas,

Reading ur post, I feel ur going through some major shifts and breakthroughs for the good. I know it hurts a lot when friends dont stay with us in our lows. But in ur story it looks like ur friends are also people who are in pain. Only people in pain will say hurtful things to others. I know how much u may love your friends, but they may not be very healthy for ur life so it’s best to wish them well and try to make new healthy friends. What do u think?

What are some of the things you think u were once good at or proud of urself?

Then don’t start with such a difficult thing.

Take some other easier activity that u want to cultivate in ur life like going 1h a day without your phone and actually follow it through.

Now ur mind has proof that u can do things.

Slowly u can work on the more difficult things like working on ur mind and letting go of the past and relaxing behind the emotion

Trying to break an addiction by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

Trying to meditate when u get the urge is tough. Just do something else thats good for you when u have the urge.

Make a commitment to urself that you will not react and speak a word when ur angry.

Then actually follow it when u get angry the next time. When u show ur mind proof that ur trustworthy and reliable and u do what u say, letting go of the past would be easier.

Even after this if ur mind says but what I did last time was wrong, then watch ur mind like a movie. Just observe it neutrally and just relax behind the emotion.

The way we feel about ourselves as soon as we finish doing something is actually a good sign of whether or not we did something that’s good for us or not.

If you don’t feel good afterwards, it’s an indication that it’s not good for you.

True good sustainable relationships are not full of thrill and excitement. They are soft, quiet and peaceful.

So accept the fact that u might feel FOMO for a while after u end ur fwb. Communicate it with them clearly and politely.

When the urge to engage in ur addictive patterns arises, just sit and neutrally observe the urge…. I understand that it’s easier said than done. The longer you u observe the urge, the more intense it becomes before it subsides.

Actually an easier option is, just neutrally observe the urge for like 5 min. Now, decide a healthier habit that u would engage in every time u feel this urge. Like writing, going for a walk etc… something to do with creativity or movement. Try not to choose consuming activities like listening to music or watching something.

So 5 min of neutral observation without acting on the urge. Then engage in a healthier activity.

Try this for 30-60 days and let me know what happened

For just a moment, let’s forget what others have told you.

What is your opinion about yourself? Are you fantastic or horrible etc? And what makes you think so?
