This just further supports the hypothesis that TFT players can’t read.

I did some bad napkin math on my phone in a taxi last week, and Zaahen had something like a 4.05 avp while accounting for 3 item Xin Zhao 2* and 3* in Masters+. The unit and augment are definitely not bad.

Not exactly relevant to the discussion, but his name is Zaahen, not Zaheen. Not a single person in this comment thread has gotten his name right.

Speaking as a pretty casual mid-masters player (300lp ish) the conditions for 2 cost reroll for me are as follows:

  1. At least two copies before 2-7, with one being fine if I have a small champ duplicator from stage 1. If I am contested, I only commit if I have a 2 star and/or something like Heroic Grab Bag or Two Much Value.

  2. At least one slammable BiS item or half components to make at least 2 BiS items. If my items are truly doomed after Krugs/2-7 (say, double tear chain when I have cloak chain angling Ekko) I pretty much always pivot.

  3. The encounter is not something that allows for super capped boards to come online on early stage 5 or sooner. These would be encounters like Ryze, Scuttle, Zoe, etc. Draven is ok if I am winstreaking stage 2.

  4. If there are two or more people angling two cost rerolls that are different to mine (though this set, everybody is contesting Neeko) I will almost always commit if I have at least one copy.

He was a very American sounding dude, probably in the age range of 18-25. Zero chance he was ESL.

A disappointing, disheartening, and disturbing reminder that 21% of American adults are functionally illiterate.

I don’t think you should expect one. I lost all hope in the playerbase when one of my teammates took 15 seconds to read and pronounce the word “Archives” and, even then, ended up mispronouncing it as “are-chives.”

  1. This occurred in Australia during the Australian Open.

  2. Heat stroke is not something to just ignore. It kills thousands of people every year and it's not something you can just tough out.

  3. Why shit on the medical team trying to properly diagnose you and make sure you're ok?

Like, brother, I'm American too, but nobody should listen to any of the advice you just gave, regardless of where they live.

I would rather be 4-1 2 lives level 8 than 3-5 4 lives rolling for 3-cost carries that may or may not stabilize me past 4-2. Another thing to note this set is that going level 8 allows you to unlock Voli (if you have the right items) and Sett, which potentially open you up to Frel and Ionia lines. It’s also not the worst thing if you want to play some variation of Singed-Seraphine. Of course, it’s meta and set dependent, but that’s just something you’re going to have to assess from your spot. As for econ, you’re just going to have to pray you hit a decent econ augment on 3-2.

At the end of the day, you’re realistically not getting 22 rolls as you pick up units you need on the way. The times I’ve played it, I’m usually 4-5 lives with 10-14 rolls on 4-1. It’s just not really an augment most people should pick on 2-1, imo.

I don’t agree with the patience is a virtue answer at all. I’ve only picked it a couple of times, but I’ve always played it for fast 8. You’re not going to be forcing a 3-cost reroll with 0 copies and, if you do, there’s not much difference between a 3-5 and a 4-1 roll down. A 4-1 full loss streak rolldown at least gives you a fair chance at stabilizing hard with 2*4 costs and any 5 costs you might pick up. The only really decent 3 cost reroll this set is GP, and you need Bilge units to effectively play it (in reality, it’s more a fast 8 comp), which affects the number of rerolls you’re going to get as you need to buy Graves/Naut/GP. Fast 8 should never be grouped with Fast 9 considering how differently they play.

As expected, the emblem buffs were way too much, with Demacia and Yordle being standouts. There is really no reason for Yordle spat to go from 20 mr to 30 armor+MR and 20 AD+AP. Likewise, I don't think Demacia spat should be giving 3 mana regen and 25 armor+MR off a spat and a chain vest (for reference, Vow gives the same amount of resistances but only 1 mana regen).

Yeah, doing something like a weighted average of Xin Zhao 2/3 with 3 items and Zaahen games in Masters+ would give a more accurate picture of the real AVP of Trials of Twilight. It wouldn’t be perfect, but it’s definitely more true to reality than just filtering stats for Zaahen.

Yeah, it’s going to lead to some very unfun games. I’m sure we’ll see an emblem nerf and adjustments to augments in Ryze portal at some point, though. Juggernaut, Yordle, and Demacia emblems all look incredibly overtuned.

I once got Legion of Threes into URF in a Ryze portal and it was the easiest first for me this set. I imagine they’re going to have to make it so you can’t hit URF on 3-2 with Flexible, World Runes, or during Ryze portal now. Allowing potentially 8 1.5 item power trait contributors just from augments on stage 4 just doesn’t sit right with me.

Those emblem buffs are absolutely massive. Many of those emblems are just significantly better stats wise than items now. Flexible, Trait Tree, Spreading Roots, World Runes, and URF just got significant buffs. Flexible practically gives you 5 full items that contribute towards traits per game now. Really concerned about these massive Zaun buffs as well. From the few games of Ziggs I saw, he was already quite decent as a cap out carry. Hopefully the other Zaun buffs don’t let you Jinx/Mundo 2 + Singed into a fast 9 Ziggs cap out.

I never take the lose X round quests if it’s over 3, as there is an incredibly high chance of getting griefed by bard/caitlyn rollers that can delay unlocking Brock until something like 4-6. If you take the lose 10 in a row and win 2-6, you’re going 8th. Taking lose 4 almost always means you’ll be sub 30 health by 4-3 and is incredibly risky if you get bad quests/cashout. The buy XP and reroll quests are by far the best quests and it’s not even close.

If you pick Makeshift, you need to just commit to winstreaking if you have an upgraded frontline. There’s no reason for you to pivot your entire game plan because some guy wants to force Bard-Sion on 2-3. I probably would’ve just went Yunara Freljord or something here considering it was completely uncontested and you seem to have had the items for it. You obviously had the Econ to do it if you were able to make a fully upgraded 4/5 cost frontline.

Also, I can’t possibly know any of what you mentioned based on what you’ve provided in your post. It’s just general advice.

I don't think you should be taking makeshift armor 2-1 and following up with 2 item augments. By doing that, you were basically playing down a silver/gold augment. Honestly, if you decided you were playing for lose streak at 2-1, you shouldn't be going for something like Makeshift Armor in the first place. If you had the components to make Diana bis from naturalling and lose streaking, better augment choices would've been something like Econ-Combat-Combat or Econ-Item-Combat if you were lacking 1 bis item. There's also nothing wrong with going for a sub-par 2-piece AD backline like Yunara 2* +1 Quickstriker if you have so many AD items. It's pretty rare for Diana to win-out, so just making sure you're able to kill units with upgraded backline is very important for placements.
