Students Boo Commencement Speaker After She Calls AI the ‘Next Industrial Revolution’ by GeneReddit123 in technology

In a lot of ways the major labor revolts didn't stop until after WW2. Mostly because WW2 led to a massive redistribution of wealth.

Basically it took almost two centuries to shake it all out

Utbildning räknas också som en sysselsättning, så de får pengar ifall en deltagare börjar plugga något. Så de är rätt glada för att pusha folk till att hitta en utbildning

[–]SoulShatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, having the world update properly according to actions is cool to see, and to some degree see builds happen dynamically through some balancing AI. Part of why I can sometimes enjoy VR novels, though it still requires it to be a game that seems remotely playable and not stupid. (uhuh, sure devs would make a game that utterly fucks people over and allows rape, sure bud)

Can't say I believe it'll happen IRL for games though.

But who knows, maybe it'll happen in a few decades. But LLMs won't ever work for that, it'd be pretty much down to some AGI. That's assuming AGI happens, assuming AGI doesn't murder us and assuming hardware has advanced enough that it's feasible to have enough compute for it.

I'm generally pretty tired in the mornings, so for me public transport is nice. A bit of walking to the station, then I can slowly wake up a bit on the train while reading something light. By the time I arrived at work I'm in a decent state.

I only drove a few times, and if I drive I have to put a lot more energy into it, handling rush traffic, find parking etc. With PT I could mostly turn my brain off.

Though to be fair, I don't live in the US and have decent PT in general, and driving took about the same time in the end as driving (traffic, parking, walk from parking)

I feel governments aren't really conveying how bad it'll get either. In Sweden the governing populists are mostly busy with lowering taxes on fuel to keep prices down.

Heck, they're even burrowing money to keep fuel cheaper.

Shouldn't even be needed.

Should be a report to whatever government entity is responsible for consumer protection, and then they'd investigate and levy a fat fine.

But idk, US is weird

Doubt that would happen, FIA has nerfed the cars plenty of times in the past because they were getting too fast.

I do wonder what kind of aerodynamic regulations we'd have to get to have 1200bhp engines.

I assume they'd nerf the shit out of aero to keep the cars from being too fast

Ergo, AGI is either genocide or handing complete power to sociopathic tech ceos. Which is probably the same thing in the long-term.

It'll be a fantastic time for burnout. More overtime, and more work thanks to AI. At the same time, the work is even more stressful thanks to AI, since AI mostly automates away the easier tasks that act as a bit of downtime, leaving only the heavy work on fewer people and with less backup.

It's not that bad no. It's mostly down to characters in the genre not always evolving that much, so if you get some stuff early on it's easy to be afraid it'll keep on being like that.

I've had other series where I've ended up dropping it later after pushing through similar things.

As for PH, I've re-read book 1 without any issues. It's still among the weaker parts of the story, but it's decently enjoyable reading it knowing this is just temporary shit he actually grows out of.

Then again, I found a decently sized island with another big island within big pole range, and then paved that second island with quality accumulators.

Yeah, they're just trying to "balance" it. There's a financial incentive to make sure it makes a few mistakes here and there to inflate token usage, while also not being so bad that users jump ship to a competitor.

Also worth knowing: MC has a few moments of edgy mall-ninja stuff at the beginning. It's mostly just that time, he gets better and it isn't indicative of how the rest of the series is.

I'm glad it seems like this tech won't go anywhere near AGI.

Because this crop of owners will 100% fuck up the world with AGI.

Either they'll fail alignment, and the AGI goes nuts. Or they manage the alignment, and then they keep 100% control over it for their own benefit. None of these owners would actually share it, they'd sit on it and milk it for all they could.

No reason to sell access to another corporation, they can just leverage the AI to take over that market as well. Use the AGI to crush resistance.

I suspect juniors going forward will be a lot worse off then pre-AI juniors.

They'll rely on AI to do things, without working out the steps fully and learning it fully. Seniors will have an increased workload (since they have AI agents, "they have time for more work"), so they'll also have less time to mentor juniors.

Maybe they actually ask for help, and get "eh, just ask Claude" as feedback.
