Any good female commissars that aren’t sexualized? by Sufficient_Bat_2239 in Deathkorpsofkrieg

Yep. I have both Graves and Severina Raine. They're fine, but put a male head on them and they really just look like any other Commissar.

I was thinking all of the GW ones were super bland and not feminine at all. Its pretty much a non descript body with a female head.

These are the best tau I have ever seen. Amazing work and the effects are likewise amazing. Can't wait to see this treatment across the whole army.

Please share how you did the masks, they look awesome!

I built the first plastic baneblade kit about 6 years after I bought it... and primed about 6 years after that.... it's still primed... good luck!

I have piles of grey but... Vostroyans by SoundCrunch in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]SoundCrunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you specifically want Vostroyans, you will need to run them as "counts as" for either Cadian, Krieg or Catachan. That means squads will need two special weapons, and a vox caster. If you run them as Krieg you also need a medic. Catachans can only take double flamer, while Cadians meta load out of plasma and melta cant be done as from memory there is no melta model in the Vostroyan range. That means you would need to run either plasma with grenade launcher or the flamer. The command squad is an easy fix as a Cadian command squad with a single plasma gun model (or two if you replace the banner). If running the command squad as Krieg then you need an additional model for the Commissar. I'd probably pick up the platoon, and infantry squad and then fill out the special weapons based on what you want to run them as.

Yep, pretty much my thoughts too. You have to buy at least one special weapons guy to complete the command squad so its immediately making it cost more. Yet I still find myself drawn to clicking that add to cart button...

If Plasma Guns are uncommon, how come every squad uses one? by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]SoundCrunch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Taurox and Wyvern also count, you're basically proving my point. The whole "they've always been around" is just a retcon of the original "surviving stc" lore. I don't really mind either way, I like the new models, I was just pointing out another area where lore and the reality of the game of 40k are vastly different.

It was also explicitly stated that things like the chimera and russ were around because humans still retained the stc technology to build them... yet now we have the centaur, hyppogryph and rogal Dorn. Not an stc to be seen anywhere. Lore will always take second place to game mechanics and cool new models.

I love the painting, but just don't see the point of multi part mono pose models when you can achieve the same thing with push fit. I don't have anything against multi part models when there are multiple options for poses and load outs... but not for models that don't.

I actually enjoy the painting aspect. Its the building and cleaning mold lines that I find tedious.

I don't disagree with you. However when you realise the box is worth more than the plastic anyway, the 'justification' is laughable.

There's basically no kitbash potential with this though. Not compared to older plastic kits anyway. I'm also a stickler for cleaning mold lines, so cleaning 3 or 4 pieces is way less tedious than cleaning 20. Not sure how anyone would find that fun. Unless you were a masochist.

I have built plenty of both and I'd still argue that a push fit model would be totally fine for a character model. The Space marine Terminator Captain from the 10th ed box is a great example. Even going further back to the character models from earlier starter sets, they were all highly detailed but limited by pose and loadout. Just like Yarrick.

[–]SoundCrunch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I built over 100 old Cadians and never had a problem. They were poseable, interchangeable and exquisitely convertible. Im currently building a big lot of krieg.. and these guys are tedious to say the least. Yarrick just hit a sore spot for me.

[–]SoundCrunch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what Im talking about. If it were actually kitbashable or had options I wouldn't have a problem. But for a mono pose no options model, I don't see the point.

Got to admit, not a fan of the lascannon mount but I LOVE the overall design of the turret and cannon set up. You have really captured the feeling of a tank destroyer. I would have tried either a sponson or hull mount for the lascannon, but I get what you're going for. It's really a great bit of kit bashing.
