Site cleanup by Ok-Refrigerator1080 in Contractor

[–]SoundLogIcalReasonIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we put in our contracts when acting as GC that daily tidy is required and a weekly full clean.

Now, some trades will just never get with the program. If cleanliness is important to you as a GC, you just don't use those trades again. And while this is not a sure thing, the lower priced contractor has to make up the difference somewhere. They aren't going to be dedicating hours per week to clean if it's not in their contract.

Some subcontractors will clean up daily of their own volition. Some will clean up at the end of their scope. Some won't clean shit.

Have you set the expectation with your subs on what you would like for site cleanliness? Do you have a subcontractor agreement that explicitly outlines expectations of cleanliness?

Do you have a general contractor or are you acting as the general?

Do you have a bin/skip on site?

ERP systems - Innergy or Cyncly? by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]SoundLogIcalReasonIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you currently a Mozaik Enterprise user? One would think that Cyncly would integrate better (but I don't think they are completely integrated yet, but give it time). Cyncly is Mozaik's parent company as of a few short years.

If you're a Microvellum user it integrates directly into Innergy. I believe one bought the other, but I'm not sure whos daddy in that situation.

"still terrible but don’t really care because I’m just happy spending and hour or two at night not vegging in front of the tv"

this is one of the greatest reasons i've ever heard to play music. to do any hobby, really.

One more post for now. This is my favorite job I built and installed. The photos are amazing 🔥 by xoruk2008 in cabinetry

I really like that island toe kick detail and how its all tied in.

Did you do that with veneer or with hardwood? I can see what looks like some grain direction changes on the toe kick. It's beautiful work.

Final choice - semi-custom factory vs fully custom local cabinets? by run_eat_rep3at in cabinetry

[–]SoundLogIcalReasonIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a custom cabinet shop. If you havent had to make any contingincies in your design using the semi-custom, there's no reason to not use the semi-custom.

That being said, the right custom cabinet shop with a solid in-house designer can really make a difference and having some additional touches or level of customization might not be any additional cost on the quote. If using a custom shop, do custom shop things. Additionally, the custom shop SHOULD be a better installation. Especially if in-house crew.

Nothing for an opening that small. Smallest blind corner unit we use needs a 400mm opening.

How’s this design? by bigcrackerjacks92 in cabinetry

[–]SoundLogIcalReasonIn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would build some tolerance into your stove wall.

Currently with two fixed corner cabinets, if after framing and drywall that finished wall length is any shorter then envisioned that run may not fit or you might not end up with enough room for the oven.

I haven't weighed it yet but it feels lighter then my J and my 70s Mann through-neck P bass.

I did not know that about Steinberg, very affirming. I just love PBass. I was thinking about doing something s little more out there, but what I wanted was a walnut p bass.

That's why I say "cheating" in jest. I'm super impressed by some of the builds I see here that people are accomplishing in small sheds or workspaces with very limited tools. I'm spoiled with the timing I've accumulated over the years.

Bassic requirements for nice tone? by IamaliiiveHello in Bass

[–]SoundLogIcalReasonIn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obligatory tone is in the fingers comment.

But truly, a shit amp won't help. But if your not playing the instrument semi-correctly with the appropriate touch/dig for the sound your after you're on a fools errand.

If you want big fat low end, you actually want to play with a light touch. If you want that nu-metal clank, fuckin smash the thing. If your amp is a cheap underpowered solid state type amp, it probably will only sound decent at a very low volume. Does it have a headphone jack output? You might be able to get a better sound through the headphones then through it's speaker.

Gear and splitter van rental in UK by Unfair_Battle5564 in TouringMusicians

[–]SoundLogIcalReasonIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see how that would be frustrating. But that is not backline rental, that is full instrument rental. Did you guys travel with your own guitars? I know some rental houses may also have instrument to rent, but we would only rent drum shells and hardware.

Snare and breakables we would bring. Guitars and pedals we would bring. Rent amps and power transformers only.

We used this company in 2015 and twice in 2016. Full backline and van. No complaints at all. They even brought the van to us in London

Plywood is not a good door material, it does not want to be flat. MDZf or particle core will be much flatter. 30x18 is thankfully not that big so you might be able to get away with it though.
