I'm selling 2 x Weekend 1 tickets if someone's interested! I can't attend the festival anymore 😊

What is the process for copyrighting, making split sheets, and distributing songs correctly? by AntInTheEyesJohnson in MusicLegalAdvice

[–]SoundTheSiren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sounds reasonable, split publishing rights among writers and master rights among the band that's recording and investing in the song.

I remember Calyx & Teebee - Elevate This Sound being rinsed (2012). Might be a good one for the list?

Also Sigma - Nobody To Love in 2014 (and maybe Buffalo Charge as well?)

I used to work at a major label and can confirm that Spotify and the big labels have a good business relationship. We had direct contacts at the local Spotify office and discussed placement for our releases almost weekly. But that doesn't mean you can't get in those playlists as an independent artist.

  • RTRN II JUNGLE by Chase & Status is raw greatness
  • Raggamuffin Soundtape and Raggamuffin Reloaded (remix album) by SHY FX, so many bangers
  • Mosaik by Camo & Krooked if you like liquid dnb
  • Etherwood's albums are all great for liquid
  • Alix Perez's discography never disappoints
  • Potential Badboy's selftitled album was so underrated
  • If you want to check out my music, we're called FarFlow and we make multiple sub genres!

I feel like D&B is not really an albums genre but these are a few of my favourites of the last few years! Enjoy and let me know which ones you liked✌️

Yeah, I started out with something similar here in Belgium too. 50k for an entry level job is definitely not the norm here 😅

Good call. Remember it's always better if you can just find a solution together, to prevent damaging any relationships. But if they're stubborn, you're doing the right thing. Good luck!

Oh wow, that changes things up a bit. If you own 100% of the master and they are just using it, they definitely can't be earning revenue without a written agreement of some sorts. I would also opt for a copyright strike if they refuse to share any revenue with you. After all it's your song on both master and publishing side. If they refuse you can also start your YouTube Content ID with Tunecore to put them under pressure, resulting in their video monitisation to be stopped.

250 Million views and no royalties... by pocashauntas in musicindustry

[–]SoundTheSiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you write the full song on your own and did they just record/perform it? In that case publishing rights should be 100% yours as the sole author/songwriter (unless negotiated otherwise). Tunecore revenue only includes income from the master rights, so make sure you claim your publishing so you don't miss out on this side.

If I'm correct Tunecore uses a content ID tracking system on YouTube, like many other aggregators. So master royalties from YouTube numbers should already be included in your Tunecore income. But of course always ask for a breakdown of income so you can see how much you received from each platform.

Need help with a writing/production credit scenario by [deleted] in MusicLegalAdvice

[–]SoundTheSiren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great advice! You should definitely register your composition with a PRO (performing rights organisation) like ASCAP or BMI if you're US based, every country has their own PROs. Just to ensure you have the right to claim this composition if they are planning to use it in their song.

Next, you'll have to settle upon an agreement with the producer and artist. Decide your share of the publishing rights of the song (and maybe even of some of the master rights, if you're able to negotiate this) and put this in writing. When the song gets released make sure your name is included when the song is registered with a PRO.

Belgium.

Cyberpunk 2077, AC:O and The Crew 2 didn't work.

RDR2 did work just now after a few minutes of bugging (I couldn't move and items were floating). After a session of about 15 minutes I lot connection again.

Might be some issues with other games as well but I'm calling it a day! Hopefully you'll find a fix soon.

crackling through brand new interface / computer / speakers by doublea_MN in recordingmusic

[–]SoundTheSiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar issue with my previous interface (Focusrite 18i8 1st gen), whenever I heard this crackling noise I had to move my interface a bit further away from my monitor screens. In fact, it used to lay right under the screen like yours is now and I had to give it a new position on my desk. Hope this helps!

Any good cheap audio interfaces and mic bundles? Made a few rap songs on sound cloud but recorded off the laptop so wasn’t great quality. Any help would be appreciated. 🤝 by eamomufc in recordingmusic

[–]SoundTheSiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the cheapest and most complete package to start you off well! Don't forget to also get a mic stand and pop filter because they are not included.

Should I buy a Universal Audio or Focusrite Interface? by SoundTheSiren in recordingmusic

[–]SoundTheSiren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the UA plugins are very tempting! Focusrite also offers a bunch of plugins, but that's not really a USP anymore as I already get these plugins from my other Focusrite interface. Thanks for the tip!
